The noodles were fine. And I was slightly disappointed to not see whole roasted black garlic in the ramen as a topping which is what I'm used to. To have the best experience I basically had to eat every bite with the meat which shouldn't be the case with ramen where the broth and noodle should be the star. If you're reading this, get the house ramen. Save the $5 because the better meat from the other options doesn't save this dish really. Service is good. Ambiance is okay. The tonkatsu broth is so hearty and not too salty either. So perfect for warming yourself up after a cold winter day, which can be particularly common in the Northern Peninsula! My boyfriend and I stopped by for happy hour and had an awesome experience! I called ahead to confirm that they do in fact do a happy hour special, which is about half off on all the appetizers. I sampled some of the broth and found it to be not too salty with good flavor. The restaurant is not the largest but we were greeted and seated immediately upon walking in. Scan the QR code at the table to view the menu and order. There is also the offer of a free Thai tea for leaving a Google or Yelp review, which I didn't accept on this visit. One calamari fell off the plate and onto the table when our server placed it down, but she was quick to pick it up with a napkin and bring us an additional two calamaris as a replacement. The Thai tea appeared light upon first impression but actually had wonderful spice flavor and balance. went on a thursday around 6pm and there were 2 open tables for my party of 2. i thought this was busy already but more people kept coming and were seated outside ws the evening went on. we were seated promptly by one of the servers going to serve another table. the seating inside is a bit cramped, especially along the window. the sushi bar keeps you from seeing the rest of the room and feels tight; the booths along the side wall looked close to each other too. no server walked us to the table or came to explain the ordering system/welcome us; this didn't bother me (at first, as i was not in a social mood) but i became more unhappy with the service as the evening went on. our server was mumbling and avoided eye contact when bringing the food out. it was dishearteneing other tables get checked in on when we didn't, and it took actively asking for the check to get it, even when we had been sitting with near empty bowls and on our phones for 5-10 minutes. the wait time for our ramens took longer than i thought (the place is small, and looked like most people had food out already) i think a whistle signifies to the staff that an order is ready, but it got annoying as the evening went on. the black garlic ramen was a 6/10. the broth has a strong garlic flavor while being somewhat smoky. the pork is thicker than most places (a plus!), and sweeter (not my favorite marinade, as i feel it overpowers the rest of the bowl). noodles have more of a chew, which i enjoy. the boiled egg also leaned on the sweeter side, but the yolk was nice and jammy. i liked that the broth isn't too salty, but overall the flavors were fine. i did like the spinach instead of seaweed, since it was easier to chew through and how they didn't skimp on the meat. however with marufuku open at serramonte, i think it would be more worth the time and money to go there for better service AND a better ramen flavor profile. read more

We ate here on a Saturday evening for dinner. It was packed, but thankfully there were still seats available near the front of the restaurant. We were immediately seated and prompted to order using their QR code. Customers may place their order using the QR code, while payments are made at the end of your meal at the cashier. Momiji's dark ambiance fits well with the warmth of the restaurant and their menu items. I ordered their vegetarian ramen with shoyu broth. The vegetables were crisp and fresh and the ramen noodles were al dente. The broth had a perfect umami that blended well with each ingredient. Next time, I would like to try their ramen with soymilk broth. The side salad had a sweet dressing while the vegetables were still fresh and crisp. The potato croquettes were a bit mushy on the inside, but still retained its crispy texture outside. The agedashi tofu was uniquely sweet and flavorful. Service wise, don't expect too much but make sure to flag any of the waiters kindly if you need anything else. It can be quite challenging if you are seated towards the front corner.
