Service was ok. The place wasn't as clean as I would have liked, but the food was generally good. A few things stood out. The lumpiang Shanghai were quite good. One of the best i have had locally, with a crunch on the outside and very moist on the inside. The sinigang was very tasty. The lechon kawali was good. The skin was crispy and the meat was moist. The only real let down was the sisig. Sisig should be the whole pig's head chopped up fine and fried crispy, served with a squeeze of lemon and an egg cracked right on the whole with a sizzling plate. In this case I could only see what looked like the lechon kawali just chopped up finely, which isn't the sisig that i understand is the original and typical. This place is always filled with people no matter what time of day I go. Most recently, I ordered to-go on a Sunday evening. After 40 minutes, I was able to pick up in my order in the packed restaurant with seating for around 30. The setting of the restaurant allows for the focus to be on family and friends; there are no major decorations or fancy seating. I ordered the Fried Lumpia and Pork BBQ Silog this time. Trying the Fried Lumpia for the first time, I enjoyed the crispiness and texture of the lumpia. The silogs are always so flavorful, and I am unable to finish one in one sitting (possibly due to its grease, but delicious nonetheless). It's hard to find good Filipino food in San Francisco. These dishes had decent portion sizes, good for 2-3 meals. Lots of flavor too, the bistek a tad salty and could have used a little more onions, but it was still quite tasty, and the pork bbq somewhat sweet and smoky, with tender meat, which I enjoyed. The portions are pretty big here which reflects the higher pricing for similar Filipino food so it's recommended that you come with a larger party or with family. I got the beef sinigang as takeout and it came in two tall soup takeout containers. It was just OK to me. It definitely was very sour but I wished there was more meat compared to the stewed vegetable ratio. Also the beef was not as tender as we would like and it was quite chewy. If you have a stomach that gets unsettled easily, I would not recommend sinigang. We also got vegetable lumpia and it came with only four for about $11.25 so a little more expensive per lumpia than I am used to seeing. It was quite oily. My MIL placed a takeout order yesterday from here we got kare kare pinakbet and sinigang and a bowl of rice for under $100!! The food portions were enough for 4 people we had leftovers. Everything was hot and fresh when we picked it up 20 min later after calling. The kare kare is legit with oxtail and the pinakbet was sooooo good. Perfect amount of sour and salt for the sinigang and you can't go wrong with hot fresh white rice. Hidden gem in Daly City for some authentic Filipino food It is tucked away behind the Benz dealership, so keep an eye out on the turn into the plaza! We ordered the following to share family style: -combo (pork and chicken) sizzling sisig - got a whole mound of meat and it sure came out sizzling -kare kare with extra veggies and bagoong on the side - note the bagoong is an extra charge, along with extra veggies. The oxtail was very tender and the peanut sauce wasn't overly peanut-y -bam-I- combination of vermicelli and canton noodles -garlic rice bowl - the garlic was very subtle, so it's good if you don't like strong garlic flavors -Laing - taro leaves cooked in coconut milk; I was told this was on of the few restaurants that served this so I had to try it. The taste wasn't what I was expecting, and it had a very earthy taste. I'm glad I tried it, but it wasn't my cup of tea. It is a small restaurant with plenty of seating. The sizzling sisig needs to have a piece of foil underneath it so this doesn't happen to someone else. Came here on Sunday at 12:30pm and there was a 20- ish mins wait for my party of 4. Parking was pretty full but people came and go so it wasn't bad. Chibog is a small family run cafe and it's not the place if you're looking for nice ambiance.. ventilation was lacking but food was wonderful ! We Love the pork sizzling sisig-- it's a MUST if you dine here. We ordered both garlic rice and white rice to eat with it. It's super flavorful, savory and tangy. I could eat so much of it with rice BBQ chicken a la Carte: just like what it is-- bbq chicken! It's not a healthy option per se as the chicken breast was pretty charred. It's little too sweet to my liking. Pinakbet--- another dish I highly recommend. It's a dish made with shrimp paste and veggies like bitter melon, squash and beans. Oh man, I was craving Filipino food and was meeting a friend over the bridge so decided to check out Chibog located in Daly City. I am Filipino so every time I go to a restaurant like this, I'm going to be critical. Upon walking in, you are hit with the aroma of Filipino food and there were so many people in the restaurant. This is always a good sign but wow it was so hot. So this is a rare occurrence in Daly City as it is mostly foggy and cool weather. Well, we happened to go during a heatwave so that's on us. Granted, the restaurant did have a huge fan going and left the doors open so that made it a bit tolerable. I was mostly craving silog which is a dish of meat, rice and egg. We ended up ordering Bangsilog (fried fish), Tosilog (sweet grilled pork) and Lechon. It did not disappoint. I definitely got my fix and I would give everything a 4/5. The Lechon was good but the skin wasn't that crispy which I was a bit disappointed in. Service was excellent as Tito (uncle in Tagalog) kept coming around with a big smile asking if we needed anything else or would fill up our waters. I am kicking myself for not ordering halo halo when he recommended it. It would have been a nice cool treat but we were so full after our yummy meal! I don't usually crave Filipino food, but most of us decided to come here after filming. We were greeted pretty quick and were given waters right away. It's unfortunate that I live all the way in the North Bay because if this place was closer I'd eat here all the time. The first time we visited it was just me and my husband and we enjoyed everything we ordered and the portions were huge so we had lots of leftover to enjoy eating at home. Then last month we came here with our daughter and we all loved our dishes. The portions and taste are always consistent. And our dishes came out quick. The place is fairly small and it's always so busy which is a great sign and a good thing. But, both times we didn't have to wait to be seated. I'm Filipino and have never tried the food here in Daly City yet so I couldn't wait to come and dine. Now, I know cooks are different and some cook different than others, etc etc, I get it. BUT, my first time dining here was just an ok experience. I will say, there were lots of people dining in and during my research, Chibog was one of the main staples and popular spots in the Daly City area. I finally came with my wife last weekend and we ordered a variety of things: Fried rice, Pork sinigang, and pork sisig. Their sinigang and sisig were both super salty. The sisig was basically shredded pork like carnitas and not like the original diced cubed pork. The sinigang had a balance of soup, veggies and pork which was great. The sisig had lots of pork but I wish there was mayo and that nice sizzling crispy pork instead of the shredded type. The food was tasty and did have lots of flavor but it was just over bearing with the salt. Honestly, I would definitely come back again because yes, the food was actually good. The prices were good and the portions were perfect. I just hope they monitor the sodium levels. read more

Alright alright... Chibog has been named my favorite Filipino restaurant. Today I waited about 15 minutes around 1:15pm, but might be worth mentioning that it's the Veterans Day observance holiday. The staff is friendly like your typical titas and titos. There's a lot of natural light that comes through the windows and the space is pretty open. I like (a lot) that they don't over crowd the place with tables. They're a small operation and it's part of their charm. After having the pancit (and loving it) during my first visit, I ordered a tray for my daughter's graduation party. It was a hit. So many people said they liked it and was asking where I got it from. I came with my brother to celebrate his favorite veteran (me lol), and we ordered a damn feast. Yes we over ordered, but I know the leftovers will be good and I'm looking forward to eating them! There was no room to complain about ANYTHING. Everything was so delicious!!!!! Kare kare- lots of meat and veggies. The sauce was thick and saucy. Sinigang (beef ribs)- the meat was so tender, again lots of meat and vegetables, sour and good tamarind flavor, the broth was piping hot. Sisig- the best. My favorite dish...and it was hella hard to choose a favorite. Tocino and lechon kawali were good as well. The portions are hefty and worth every penny. It comes out on a hot sizzling plate with a beautiful fried egg on top. The pork had the perfectly balanced savory and tart oomph in flavor, so delicious! Chicken adobo had amazing sauce and the pancit bihon had great savory flavors too. The pork tocino plate might have been slightly too fatty, but perhaps it was just the one cut of meat that I got that day, flavors were still good though! Service was relatively quick; the restaurant was busy preparing takeout orders as well as it seems to be a popular takeout spot. I wish this place stayed open longer instead of closing at 6/7pm! Note: When we got here before 1p on a tuesday it was 'busy' so we waited like 25 min for a seat. (Its because when peepss come to eat out, they like to take their time to eat and chill ...and if its a big party, they got no sence of urgency at all) When we sat we were ready to order ...went with their PORK SISIG, KARE KARE and TOFU SISIG, and WHITE RICE. we wanted to put the egg on the tofu and not on the pork and guess what..we was told that they can NOT do egg on the tofu, only the pork? Ummmm.....ok *****here is the kicckurrr tho...... they brought this meal out super fast. Hooked up a big bowl of rice for us to share. That tofu sisig came out awesomely noisy in its sizzling pan. The kare kare was beautifully displayed in a pot of peanut sauce....and when the pirk sisig came out, same song and dance with that nice smell of grease and flavors lol. The food taste was impressive. Very tasty, not too rich...not salty. Just really tasty and we enjoyed all of it. And they hooked up the alamang paste, too! Chibog has pretty good Filipino food for take-out. I am not as adventurous with pork ears and livers, so I usually get lechon (fried pork rinds), chicken tocino (chicken marinated in a tart ketchup-like sauce), longanisa (pork sausage), and of course, garlic rice. The meats are flavorful and the garlic rice is comforting. The lumpias (Filipino egg rolls) are crispy, but the filling is kind of bland (1 star off). The portions are large. If you get a silog (breakfast version) rather than an a la carte entree, the meat is much less, but you get two eggs and one very large scoop of garlic rice. I have dined in, but find the ambiance not the best. The restaurant does not have good air circulation. It was a hot day, and even with the fan going, it was still stuffy and hot. This might be the best Filipino restaurant in California... maybe even the United States? NorCal Filipinos really know how to do it, lol. Firstly, Chibog--which means "food" in Tagalog--serves Pancit Palabok, which many Filipino restaurants, for whatever reason--despite it being a staple--do not have. As I'd always do since I was a kid when having Palabok, I asked for a few slices of lemon, squirted a few slices over the noodles, and wow, almost as if I made it at home, complete with the chicharron and hardboiled egg slices. I also had the Lumpia Shanghai with dipping sauce. Both the Lumpia and Palabok were excellent. Some of the best Filipino food, from a restaurant, I've ever had. Almost as good as homemade Filipino food (but without having to clean up)! I can only imagine what the other entrees taste like. (I only ordered two things, as I was dining alone, and I didn't want to have leftover.) This is a great place, for both food quality, and value, especially if you have a family, as the portion sizes could feed a family of four. Too bad we don't have a Chibog location in Southern California. It's my opinion that Filipino food is underrated. If more Filipino restaurants were like Chibog, with its obvious focus on quality and quantity (value), Filipino food would be a lot more popular in my opinion. Chibog has been a family favorite for years! For being a smaller restaurant they always do an amazing job at squeezing our group of 10 comfortably inside. We tend to order a large variety from the menu and honestly we haven't found a single dish we dislike yet. The staff is also really good about cooking quickly and getting the food out to us so everything is piping hot for the entire table! My only downside to this place is the parking situation. Definitely carpool if you're a larger group, this parking lot is shared with a few other businesses in the same plaza so it can be a struggle to find parking. read more
