    Baklava
    MY V.

Came to work with a surprise dinner from Chic-n-Gyro! Dinner plate came with yellow rice with season chicken, pita bread, and a side of Greek salad. The seasoning to the chicken was very tasty and mixed well with their white sauce. Yellow rice was a bit dry. The salad dressing to me was a bit bland, but it was still refreshing. I am not used to this kind of dressing on my salads. I've always wanted to try baklava and glad I was able to. The pastry was very good. It was a bit sweet for me, but I was able to save half for later. Nice crunch from the almonds and crisp outer lAyer. Check out their baklava! I will be ordering out from this place in the future.

    Grilled Tilapia Fish Platter

This place is absolutely DELICIOUS. Found this place because I was craving a Gyro but I ended up getting a tilapia platter too. BEST.DECISION EVER. The gyro was season to perfection. BUT. The tilapia platter won my heart! Best tilapia I have ever had. And the best seasoned rice I've had in a while. I let my roomate have some and her and her boyfriend went later the same day and loved their food too. also the cook was extremely nice and warm hearted. I will be going back on a weekly basis.

I ate at here on Saturday in Altamonte Springs, FL. It is located in a shopping plaza with Appliance Direct. We were shopping for new fridges all day. We still haven't purchased a fridge yet. I was getting hangry and it was way past my normal lunchtime. I haven't eaten inside a restaurant since March. I went all out and got the falafel pita, stuffed grape leaves, spinach pie and baklava. So delicious! It tasted homemade and authentic. I wasn't able to finish all the food I ordered but I ate it later that day. There was a kids menu and lots of vegetarian/vegan options here.

It's a different approach to the normal palate. The appearance of the establishment should not deprive one from trying good Greek food. I am glad I did, I had the lamb gyro and it was juicy and delicious. My wife had the chicken gyro and too it was juicy and flavorful. This is a family oriented establishment that takes pride in cooking. So folks don't go to a chain restaurant, stop by here and enjoy family Greek food.

I love, love, love this place! Not only because the food is great but because the owners are humble and caring people that offer great service. I love the veggie feast meal..so filling and lots to try on it. The spinach pie is delicious. The chicken shawarma. The kabobs! Chic-n-gyro has my favorite falafel, hands down! And the homemade hot sauce Ash makes is bomb-diggy. Support this amazing BIPOC-owner business!

This was a pretty good place for a quick bite. Everything seemed fresh and it was very clean inside. The prices were very reasonable. I ordered a falafel sandwich and french fries as my side. The falafel sandwich was huge. I also liked that the falafels seemed freshly made. What I didn't like was the tahini sauce they put in the Sandwich. It had a weird aftertaste, like it might have gone rancid but not sure. Beside that everything was great and the fries were really good.

Chicken and gyro mix over rice

Came across this place on yelp while looking for chicken places. But I didn't want a traditional fried chicken. The place is located in The plaza across from Congo River golf. We went in a Monday night so it wasn't busy at all and our food was cooked fresh to order. The place has been here 7 years. Since it was our first time he gave us a complimentary piece of baklava- a pastry with nuts and honey. It was yummy. I ordered the Chicken & Gyro over rice. It has chicken, lamb, yellow rice, tomato, lettuce, pita bread and it's topped with tzatziki sauce. It was super yummy. The portion is big and I couldn't eat the whole thing. My husband ordered theChicken shawarma sandwich with chicken, tomato, parsley, onion, and tzatziki sauce. The pita was freshly made and portion was big. But it was a bit messy to eat. The platter comes with fries and a soda. Fries were greasy and overly cooked everything else was great. Would recommend.

    Is there a souvlaki dinner?

There is no souvlaki dinner on the menu but they do have both chicken and beef shawarma dinners which are close to souvlaki.

Service is quick and friendly. It's a storefront restaurant, in a very old building. Decor is eclectic, sort of a mashup of different genres. Tried banderillas, which are artfully crafted skewers with chicken, cheese, zucchini , and roasted peppers, with some mango vinaigrette to dress. These are as nice to look at as they are to eat. Great starter, perfect for sharing. Also tried the Jack Fruit Quesadilla. An unusual combo - quesadilla stuffed with cheese and jack fruit marinated with guajillo sauce and then topped with pineapple, almonds, apples, and cilantro. Very unique taste, and delicious! Many other things to try on the menu. Definitely will stop in again whenever in Deland.

The outside seats were full and the sidewalk packed with spectators. The dining was empty so we had our pick of seats. We were greeted promptly and our server gave us plenty of time to review the menu while catching up. Our drinks were served quickly-I got a glass of sangria which was crisp and light, not overly sweet. The food was freshly prepared and served hot. Everyone raved about their choices. I got the vegan enchiladas and my husband got the nachos. Both were delicious. The enchiladas were topped with fresh shredded cabbage and tomatoes which gave enchiladas a nice crunch in each bite. The nachos were light-not overly drenched in cheese or cheese sauce like you find in most pubs nowadays. You could taste the vegetables. The dining room is cozy with a good view of the street. Everyone we spoke with was friendly and welcoming. If our vacation plans bring us to Deland again, I know they will include a visit to De laVega.

We always order the meat and veggie combo (which is the perfect portion for two) and occasionally add an order of beef tibs. I highly recommend doing that if you're extra hungry. Everything is always incredibly flavorful, well-seasoned, and comforting in the best way. I genuinely have never had a bad experience here. The food is consistently delicious, the portions are generous, and it always hits the spot. If you've been on the fence about trying Ethiopian food, this is absolutely your sign to go for it. The combo platter is a great way to sample a little bit of everything, and it does not disappoint. The only thing to note is that the restaurant tends to have a strong incense smell inside. It personally doesn't bother me at all, but if you're sensitive to that kind of thing, they do offer a few outdoor seating options.

Honestly all the drinks I've had here have been great, that's just my go to at the moment. They were playing the game so we ordered a couple more drinks and sat at the bar for a bit. There were several places to choose from, but this one seemed like a good fit because it wasn't overly loud, and we wanted to be able to hear each other. We initially sat outside, but we were told they had stopped serving the outdoor seating area, so we moved inside. Rather than wait for a server, we decided to order directly from the bar since it seemed like the faster option. There weren't enough seats at the bar for our group of five, so we grabbed a nearby booth. The bartender was friendly, and our drinks were excellent. Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. Although people were not coming in, but some people were eating, and enjoying drinks throughout the restaurant, it seemed like the staff had started cleaning up for the night. A server came over, and we explained that we were only there for drinks. After we received our drinks from the bar, he returned and told us that we would soon have to get up so he could clean the table. Seriously? I looked around and saw several other tables where some guests were simply sitting, talking, and enjoying their drinks. They weren't eating either. It made us feel as though, because we had only ordered beverages, we weren't as welcome as everyone else. I chose not to let one person's behavior ruin our evening because I'd rather believe that one employee doesn't represent the entire establishment. In fact, the bartender was great, and the drinks were very well made. What disappointed me was the server's attitude. I wasn't aware that ordering drinks at a restaurant with a full bar wasn't enough to be considered a paying customer, especially when there weren't enough bar stools to accommodate our group. His approach came across as rude, unprofessional, and completely unnecessary. Needless to say, we were not going to get up until we had finished out drinks, and we did not. I may return to try the food because the drinks were impressive, but if I ever encounter that same server again, I definitely won't be sitting in his section.
