Proceed with caution. I ordered a hair topper from Ersolene. Her business is not run professionally and she does not write anything down or give you a receipt. She said she wrote my phone number down wrong so she couldn't contact me to tell me the topper was in - but we had been texting, so I am not sure why she didn't look there for my number. I finally contacted her to find out what was going on and that's when she said she lost my number. She told me she's an expert, but unfortunately she sold me a product completely unsuitable for me - even though her website claims she will find the "perfect" hairpiece for her clients. She also told me she guarantees her work and I found out that was a lie. Once the topper came in, I went to the stylist that Ersolene personally recommended and the stylist said it was far too dense for me. I also noticed it was very wavy (not what we agreed upon) and completely the wrong texture for me. I asked Ersolene for a refund and she refused. She offered to thin it out, but I paid $650 for a custom topper designed for me, not an after-market, thinned out piece. I even offered to take less than 100% refund and she could keep the topper and she wouldn't even discuss it. Her business practices are deceptive and she is not at all customer-service-oriented. Once I complained and threatened a lawsuit she took her website down - which shows you just how shady this woman is. It's ok though, I have screenshots of all her dishonest claims that I can use in small claims court. I wish we could have worked something out, but she was unreasonable. read more

I have little patience for hair salons BUT extensions done by Ersolene is the best way to go! I've been with Ersolene for literally over 25 years and I don't entrust my extensions to anyone else!! I found Ersolene through Yelp. I was very nervous as this was my first extensions install. Ersolene's work is amazing. My appt was at 10 and promptly at 10 she was ready for me. It was a disappointing experience. I didn't want to leave a review at all despite the fact that I had spent 6.5 hours at this salon to remove 4 bundles, get my hair clarified and 4 new bundles put in. I left with a pounding headache because throughout my time there, the conversation would not stop. They don't realize that people go to a salon to relax, not to listen to unnecessary on-going conversations, jokes and phone calls. All of this was always done in 2.5 hours max at the previous salons I've been to during the 4 years I've had extensions. 6.5 hours ?? Yes ersolene did take another customer in between which she wasn't supposed to do, and she needs to understand that people's time is valuable. She's also extremely slow. I put up with this given the fact that she charges less and I got tired of spending a ton of money on my hair. However when i realized I had bonds on the top of my head that were clearly showing no matter how I styled it, and that she left about 2-3 full inches in the middle of my head empty, I got really upset. That's not serious work. She was busy chit chatting over my head and later even realized she had "forgotten" to remove an old extension. What made me leave a review now is the actual extensions. She had recommended a store to me to buy my fusion extensions from (forgot its name). I asked her which brand she recommended. She said "anything sold at this store is of great quality". Okay.. so between "Divine" and "French kiss", I chose the latter which is a bit cheaper. I realize she may like to send customers to that store, but to do it at the expense of the customer is NOT ethical: French Kiss is the WORST brand of fusion extensions ever. I was horrified when after just one month they were shedding and the ends became so brittle, split and damaged, the kind of hair you get when you overprocess it and overheat it. Believe it or not, my extensions always lasted 6-7 months (depending on the salon and brand). I have dry hair and i wash it twice a month with dry shampoo in between. Despite that, the French kiss strands proved to be a terrible quality and a total waste of money. Now, 1.5 months in, I have no more fullness in my hair on the bottom and i lost more than 2.5 inches in length. And NO, I don't flat iron it all the time because I take very good care of my extensions. Finally, when i went to the next stylist to have them removed, i was told that she had not applied the bonds correctly and the hair was criss crossed. Btw she says she doesn't like to use a hair separator. Now we see the result. That's just lazy, mediocre work. I saved money but then i had to spend more after just 1.5 months. read more

I was in town for a wedding and made an appointment with Ersolene to get a custom hair topper. Due to stress, I had unconsciously pulled out 2 very large patches of hair. Ersolene was great on the phone (I live in Michigan) and very kind during my consultation at her salon. She told me that it would be 27-30 days to receive the topper, BUT it took nearly two months. After all this time, my hair has started growing back and I hardly even need a topper anymore. It was quite an expense and I am very disappointed by how long it took to receive. The color is also much darker than the swatches I chose at the salon, so I guess I'll be dying my hair to match. Sigh. read more

I have been getting my hair extensions done by Ersolene for over 5 years. Ersolene's specialty is making sure that the extensions look totally natural and are undetectable. Her prices are not cheap but they are totally reasonable, especially considering that her extensions last a very long time. I just got my hair extensions done by Ersolene and boy what a fabulous job she did! My hair is light blond with low lights and she matched my hair perfectly. When I got home I was freaking out because I couldn't tell which was my own hair and which part was the extensions. Ersolene is a consummate professional and technically gifted and perfectionist. Come here for a sew-in (weave) if you need an expert with years of experience. She specializes in hair loss coverage and is reasonably priced. She only wants the best for you and during your consult, will order HIGH QUALITY hair for you if you don't have the time or know-how to get the hair yourself. She knows the brands that are good and will last awhile, e.g. Bohyme. The last thing you want is a weave that will not last awhile, which you then have to take apart and re-do, costing you time, money, and adding you unneeded stress. Don't skimp on hair! Pay a bit more for long lasting quality! Have your hair clean and dry prior to your installation. She works with a colorist who can give you a precision cut/blow dry after installation of weave to make sure everything blends in nicely and you look polished and feeling NEW! I have only had weave twice in my life. I got my first weave done by Ersolene for my 25th birthday and it was both a blessing and a curse. I have never had hair past my shoulders, and I was excited and nervous at the same time. I wanted it to be perfect and not fake looking at all. I was doing hair research for weeks and one day I was in Walgreen's and I saw a girl with the most beautiful natural looking weave I had ever seen. I only knew it was a weave because she was African American. It was like the weave God sent her as a sign for me. When I approached her she told me about Ersolene and gave me her number. She also mentioned that her weave was already 3 months old! She warned me she is a bit pricey but that it is worth it. I called Ersolene to make the appointment and she was really nice. I asked her where to get the hair from and she referred me to Heads & Threads Boutique in Wicker Park, which has a nice selection for a good price. Fast forward to my appointment, she was a little late meeting me but she was so nice and we talked the entire time she did my hair. She even told me about a nice Mexican restaurant to have my birthday dinner at. I took her advice and my hubby and I went that night and it was also amazing. By the time she finished I could not believe how sexy my hair looked. Ersolene is THE BEST hands down! I got so many compliments, the hair lasted a long time and I did not even take very good care of it ( wrapping at night etc, I washed it a lot). The "curse" about getting your hair done by Ersolene is that you will never be able to get weave by any one else ever again. No one is on her level. My second weave was at a much cheaper price through another person and I was very unhappy after the first week. If you can afford Ersolene forever than do it, if not then stay away because once you go Ersolene you can never go anywhere else. read more

I hate to write a negative review because ersolene was a very nice person and my actual experience in the salon was fine. I'm thinking she probably is great with her custom wigs but unfortunately for me the strand by strand extensions were a disaster. I was new to extensions so when most of them fell out the first month I assumed it was my fault. I called her for help and she explained I was using the wrong shampoo (pureology that she recommended originally I thought). Ok so I had them put in again and things were better but I was losing strands pretty regularly and had shedding all over the floors of my house (literally). Then I went to my colorist who was very upset. She explained the bonds put in were so large that my own very fine hair was being pulled out at an alarming rate. I went to another salon to have them removed and got the same opinion. Price-wise ersolene is extremely reasonable - about 1/4 of what I pay now but the bonds I get now are the size of maybe a grain of rice, placed evenly and don't show, and are better for my hair. I lose maybe one strand over three months and have absolutely minimal shedding. There were other odd things that happened like she expected my hair to be clarified and straightened before the apointment but didn't tell me so she just put them in while my hair was curly without any prep. When I walked over to the other stylist to have them trimmed he complained that I had a mess of something tangled in my hair - turned out to be excess glue/bonding! The second time I had to come back twice because she left half of the hair at her home and I live over an hour away. Overall I just can't recommend this salon for strand by strand. read more

I cannot even begin to explain how amazing not only Ersolene is as a person but also how incredible her work is. I had never had extensions done and wanted to try them out. I did the fusion strand by strand extensions - it looked AMAZING! Her stylist, Lucy, did an amazing cut/blend/style after the extensions were put in. Ersolene communicated with me throughout the week and went out of her way to squeeze me in to her already busy schedule on two different occassions. She really cares about the way your hair looks and will tell you what is best for your hair. She is a very hard worker, neat with her work, and very honest. I cannot stress how great she is! If you are considering extensions of any type, I would never look anywhere else. I have heard and seen horrible extensions and cuts from other salons in the area. Ersolene's work will not dissapoint. She is on point with what she does (as well as her stylist, Lucy.) She also did a terrific job removing my extensions so that it would not pull out my natural hair.
