I typically only give reviews when it's either a really good experience or a really bad one, so in the case of Chicago Holistic Medicine, I am pleased to be able to give two big thumbs up. I've had massages in places from the Four Seasons to The Phoenician in AZ & while I will continue to get those massages as a nice component of a getaway, while in Chicago, CHM will be my go-to place. For those of you that might be uncomfortable getting a massage (ie. guys) or might feel out of place in a upitty spa, CHM is the perfect place to go. It's low-key, relaxed simple neighbohood vibe, combined with Robert's mellow, relaxing demeaner will put you at ease & the extremely fair pricing will make your wallet as happy as your back, neck, etc. as you walk out the door. For the typically spa-going folks, I would recommend CHM as your place to go when you'd like to increase your message frequency w/o it becoming a second car payment in your budget. Two other positives about Robert is his intake procedure & his accupunture skills. He always takes the time to zero in on what your most pressing issues are & recommend the best personalized treatment. I would also put his accupunture skills in line w/ the Chinese practitioner w/ 30+ yrs experience where I had been going. I was as hesitant to get accupuncture as anyone, but in the right hands you often don't even feel a pin prick. So if Robert recommends it as part of your treatment, make a leap of faith &/or man-up & you will be the better for it! read more

I was recommended to Robert by my brother, who was given an acupuncture visit as a gift from some friends of his. He talked so much about Robert's work that when I started suffering unbearable carpal tunnel symptoms and a terrible pain in my shoulder blade area, which I believe were a side effect of my current pregnancy, I contacted Robert to see if he could help me. At my first visit, he spent probably 30 to 45 minutes just asking me questions about ME - what I do, what I like, how my health has been/changed recently, and of course, about my ailments. He explained things to me about my energy and my pulse, and how certain points are connected to different organs in my body. He then combined acupuncture and massage techniques to address my issues. At subsequent visits, he would ask about my sleep, my mood, and other things that I'd never think to bring up, and he addressed those issues as well as my initial 2 ailments! Robert is an amazing and masterful acupuncturist and massage therapist. I am well versed in Holistic medicine and have had my fair share of massages and no one has come close to comparing to Robert. Robert is thorough in assessment, giving careful attention to the many causes and conditions that comprise balance in health. He has a holistic understanding of how the mind and body complement each other. He answered my questions clearly, and was excellent in communicating. I find him very easy to speak to without feeling awkward or embarrassed to explain symptoms. He is a careful and conscientious listener, remembering details after only being told once. This approach of taking the whole person, not just symptoms, into consideration gave rise to individualistic treatment, insightfully knowing what would work best in my case. About 2 years ago I was going through a very stressful time and had extreme stomach problems and was gaining weight. I was reading the Chicago Time Out magazine and read a quick review on Robert, I decided to try him out- couldn't hurt! Well after just a few weekly sessions I couldn't believe how well I was sleeping and I no longer had stomach issues. I learned to manage my stress level and Robert decided we should have monthly sessions. I was feeling great so I took the summer off. At the end of May I found out I was 3 months pregnant! Great news the ONLY issue I had was sinus pressure headaches so I called Robert for an emergency session. I have felt so good at Robert's and while I'm away. I anticipating my returns knowing he will provide the comfort I seek.. I did not go to Robert for several months even though a friend of mine recommended I do so. I fell and broke my tailbone in Feb 08 and "just hoped" it would eventually heal on its own. However, each month passed and I kept experiencing mild to moderate pain near the break and at other points in my body. Every time I leave Robert's office, I feel like I am floating. I have been seeing Robert for acupuncture and massage for almost a year now for chronic daily headaches and occasional migraines. A couple of years ago, I first started a weekly treatment with Robert due to my chronic neck and shoulder pain, which involved deep tissue massage, acupuncture, and herbs. I went to Robert to try to alleviate the pain in my shoulder and neck, which was causing terrible headaches and discomfort.
