Joseph and Nick came to repair my busted pipe, they then destroyed my kitchen to then advise me that there was another busted pipe. I was quoted $2200 to repair however because they were not able to save my cabinets in my kitchen. I was only told that I needed to pay $1400 with giving me a 10% discount, and still end up paying $1260. My kitchen looks terrible. There's a hole in my home. They advised me that they could come back to put the kitchen back if I would purchase my cabinets and other expenses again...marerial & everything but their labor would be $2600! I felt like I've been ripped off already, I'm a first time homebuyer. I do not recommend this company if you do not want to be screwed I will not have them to come back to my home after having two other plumbers come here to ask me did they charge me $300 or did they charge me $500? I was too embarrassed to tell them what I paid! But I knew I was screwed so please be aware Every one ladies especially!!Because this is what your property will look like in the end!!! I have to hire another company to fix this horrible hole in my home! and install a whole kitchen in my apartment and also my basement unit was damaged during this process as well. I'll upload pictures of both. I haven't been able to eat for the whole weekend. It is very expensive trying to feed me and my artistic Son! And it looks like we're gonna have to eat out for the whole week now because that's how long it'll take someone to get back in here to fix this mess for me. Just please be aware! A word of advice on contracting this company to do major plumbing work. They installed a flood control system in our home. Upon installing the system, they left our front yard & our porch, totally disassembled and insisted on me paying the second half of the deposit prior to them, completing the work. Against my better judgment & due to multiple assurances from Joe Kovalsky that they would return to put our porch and yard back together they never returned my calls and never showed up leaving my wife to have to move yards of dirt and fill the large gaping hole. ZERO STARS! TLDR: Was without hot water for an entire week! CSE took 7 days to install a tankless heater, because they didn't have any experience with tankless heaters. Then, CSE finally dispatched someone else with actual experience. Complete waste of time and mental and emotional energy! Never hiring again! (I'm not saying their real names, because my problem wasn't with the plumbers dispatched to us. My problem is with the company as a whole.) Last year, CSE fixed a leaking sink for $500. When my water heater died, I called them again. This time, however, was a disaster. Day 1 (Wednesday): Plumbers Alex and Ben said my tank heater needed replacing. My partner and I opted for a tankless unit for the Energy Star tax credit. We paid the $1,400 deposit. Day 2 (Thursday): Alex and Ben delivered the unit but did no work, claiming they needed more parts. They should have called instead of making us wait at home for nothing. My partner had to wake early and secure our pets for the second day straight, only for them to waste our time. Day 3 (Friday): After confirming they'd finish, they finally started the installation. They removed the old heater and mounted the new unit, but hit another snag with the exhaust vent needing cement to reattach properly. While understandable that it needed to dry and no extra cost was charged, they forgot to turn our gas back on, forcing us to do it ourselves to cook dinner. Day 4 (Saturday): They finally finished, but the tankless heater displayed "ERROR CODE 12," indicating a gas pressure problem. Luckily, I took a picture of the unit's box before they tossed it. I was able to find the manual on the manufacturer's site. Alex blamed Nicor Gas, which was closed for non-emergencies. My plumber friend suggested the pipes were too small, a detail I relayed to Alex. During this whole nightmare, let me remind you, we had NO HOT WATER since Tuesday. We couldn't shower, wash our hair, do laundry, wash dishes, or bathe our pets. We had to take sponge baths over the sink with hot water from our kettle. A couple times, we wanted to check into a cheap hotel. JUST so that we could shower. We made it clear to CSE that it was absolutely humiliating that we weren't able to bathe. Along with the sleep deprivation from needing to wake up early to answer the door, needing someone to be home, and locking up our pets for hours. Day 5 (Sunday): Alex finally admitted I was right about the pipes and promised to fix it Monday. Day 6 (Monday): Alex and Ben were no-shows. We called Nicor, whose tech confirmed our gas pressure was fine--the heater was the problem. Alex called in sick, which we only learned late in the day. The office refused to send another plumber, insisting Alex would finish the next day, despite our week-long lack of hot water. It was clear Alex and Ben lacked tankless heater experience. Day 7 (Tuesday): Alex and Ben finally returned, replacing the incorrect flexible gas hose they'd used with a proper metal pipe, as per their supervisor's instruction. Still, "ERROR CODE 12" persisted. Alex finally called "Patrick," another plumber who supposedly specialized in Rheem heaters. Patrick was supposed to come the same day but was a no-show. Day 8 (Next Wednesday): Alex apologized for Patrick's absence, blaming miscommunication. Thirty minutes later, "Patrick" and "Mark" arrived. They were fantastic! They quickly diagnosed and fixed the issue: poor ventilation, not gas pressure. They installed a dedicated exhaust vent, and our new water heater finally worked! We immediately took hot showers and caught up on our chores. The heater has worked perfectly since. However, the final insult: the unit CSE installed doesn't even qualify for the Energy Star tax credit, the sole reason I chose a tankless heater. It's a "mid-efficient" model, not "high-efficient." CSE failed us on every level: dispatching inexperienced plumbers, poor communication, a week without hot water, lost sleep and energy, and a unit that doesn't meet our tax credit requirement. Pretty terrible experience. I had a backup in my basement so I called Captain rooter out. After walking around they told me they recommended to hydrojet the line to clear it and then stick a camera in the pipes to see what was going on. Quoted me $1300 because there was no cleanout (WRONG). I showed them the cleanout and now the price became $900. They took a look into the cleanout and dropped their flashlight which became stuck as well. Refused to get it out and never responded again. read more

The representative arrived pretty close to time which was good. He was here to unlock frozen pipes. Arrived at 3:30 and was finished by 5:00 PO M. He gave me a bill for $950!!!!!! No repairs no busted pipes just throwing out pipes. After I complained he found some discounts that brought it down to 641. What the f!!! Not much better but don't have pipes for a little over an hour. I definitely want some money refunded. They were supposed to give me an estimate before they began to work. Captain Rooter Emergency Plumbers responded and resolved the small gas leaks in basement promptly and efficiently. Very pleased w the attitude and professionalism of Gabe, the service tech, who drove all the way from Chicago. Nicor confirmed that the gas leaks were resolved & turned gas back on. While the total cost was expensive, at least i have peace of mind that I know there are no small gas leaks which probably existed for who knows how long? Hopefully this equates into savings on my gas bill! read more

Brandon communicated everything clearly and professionally throughout the service. This was an emergency call, and he was able to get to it the same night. The sewage backup issue was resolved. It was expensive IMO, but to be fair I don't have much to compare to as I haven't had to hire for this service before (hydro jet) and this was an emergency so I did not have the luxury of time and multiple estimates before getting it fixed. I am likely to reach out to Captain Rooter again in the future for any emergency work. Noticed before 7 am that I had some standing water in my basement after a rain and knew I had a problem. Called them up real quick and on the second ring someone picked up. Honestly, couldn't believe how fast someone was out here(20-30 mins) after made the call. Pat K was my tech for the day and he was awesome. He was honest, friendly and didn't mind my 1 year old needing to watch his every move. Great customer service and when this happens again, I know who to call. This week, my basement flooded. I called 3 plumbing companies: Captain Rooter, Trojan Plumbing, and Able Sewer & Plumbing. In spite of 4 calls, Trojan did not return my calls until 18 hours had passed, and I never heard from Able. Only Captain Rooter responded promptly and sent a plumber, Big Bob. Bob came in, assessed the situation and recommended a new sump pump. He installed the new pump, and completed the job within 30 minutes. He also suggested that l contact their sister company to assess the water damage and test for mold. I am very pleased with the company's quick response and Bob's professional work/demeanor.
