I called for some information as we were wanting the Golden Chariot or Road Cruiser (top two vans they have) for an 8 day trip. Right when the guy picked up the phone, he seemed bothered. I asked a couple other simple questions and he seemed more irritated, Oh I'm sooo sorry for making you do your job. I then asked about a pet policy, he says "whatever, I'll tell you what, if I find any dog fur, even one piece, there's going to be a $500.00 fee." I highly recommend you go elsewhere for a rental. The smart TV is useless as no one could hear it over the road noise. The suspension in the back of the sprinter van was so bad my kids were getting sick. One of the Xbox controllers didn't work. Then, to cap it all off, I returned it with a small amount of dirt from someone's shoe near the back cargo compartment. Every representative I've spoken to at this business has been rude in every single interaction in person or on the phone. The company decided to tell us our tolls didn't go through a full MONTH after we rented the car so there was nothing we could do, and the guy was so nasty on the phone when I called to ask about it that it completely turned me off from their business. He kept talking on and on about how they have "thousands of clients" and therefore telling us about the notice when they got it (AKA basic customer service and human decency) "isn't their problem". If I could give this place a negative 1, I would happily do it. My family and I took the "LUXURY" Mercedes Benz Road Cruiser on the road last week, and it was ABSOLUTELY horrible. On the day of pick up, I arrived at this place at 7:45 (15 minutes before the opening time). I had to call the office to see if anybody was there, but there was no pick-up the first few calls. The guys didn't get there until 8:20 AM, and we weren't greeted by a Good Morning or anything! Only one of the passenger sliding doors work. You couldn't let the blinds down to cover the sunlight! Armrests were broken! The SEATBELTS were stuck and wouldn't come out, so thank God we weren't in an accident because if so would be badly injured! The coolant light stayed the whole trip. We were so lucky to find a van rental for our party of 10 through Chicago Van Rentals in mid July for a family trip coming up in late August. We were called today...four days before our trip to let us know they could not accommodate our van request, even though they took a deposit to guarantee our rental. They did offer me a much more expensive rental however to compensate for this. How thoughtful. I don't know why exactly, but i thought to myself...let me go to their website and see what they have to offer. To my utter shock and amazement, I found that they were still offering the same rental van i had a reservation for, but now for $151 MORE than the price when i reserved it. I'm so confused? I thought you didn't HAVE the van we were requesting. That they weren't available? But yet, you are advertising them on your website for rent for the same time period as my original reservation? WEIRD. Sounds to me like someone didn't want to honor their obligation and rate. I'm awaiting my refund for my deposit now and desperately searching for a replacement van now. I rented a van from this place in March to take my family of 10 to Wisconsin dells during spring break. I asked the employee helping me 3 specific and direct questions. 1. How much time will it take to complete this process? He stated 5 minutes and 30 minutes later, I'm walking out the door. 2. When will I get my deposit back? He stated within 24hrs 3. is their a grace period if I'm back within 1-2 hrs. He assured me that as long as I'm back on Sunday, and the van was cleaned with no scratches, dings and within the mileage limit I will be fine. Well everything that he told me was inaccurate and a lie. I called for three days consecutively asking for my deposit and if they found any issues that's causing the delay in processing the return and their answer consistently was, they still haven't processed the return in yet. The guy got so upset with me calling for a finalized receipt and my deposit back that he decided to send it same day within 1 hour but charged me for an extra day for returning the vehicle at 3pm. They had already processed the return, because immediately within seconds on the phone the guy told me that I returned the vehicle at 3pm instead of 12PM and that he seen me recording the vehicle as I returned it, so he knew who I was, and they had to watch the cameras to see me recording the vehicle and mileage. They were upset that I recorded the vehicle as I returned it to make sure there were no scratches/dings, the mileage was within their 500 limit and/or garbage was not left behind in the vehicle, so they couldn't charge me a cleaning fee, mileage fee etc like other's complained they have done in the past. I will never rent from this place again. It's a valuable lesson learned to make sure to rent weeks/months in advance from a reputable rental company and that larger rental companies typically have better customer service and won't charge an extra day for being late on a return a few hours. I called last minute because we needed 2 passenger vans and although they don't normally do short term they accommodated me. After talking with my team my team we only needed 1 & we picked up on Saturday vehicle was waiting for us. Staff was friendly on phone & in person. Made process very quick & efficient. My only issue happened as I was about 5 min away from returning was that the ABS light came on. I would give 5 stars if they offered 1 day minimum rentals. read more

Where's the option for less than one star? This company is horrible to do business with. We rented a 12 passenger Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van. The sliding door did not operate our entire trip, and the operators of this company knew it! On our return trip the floor of the van got so hot that it melted the sole of my daughter's shoes. During one of our rest stops we discovered that the floor was actually burning from underneath the vehicle. When we returned the van the Manager, Joji Abraham, insisted "there's nothing we can do for you". But, he knew the reason that the floor was so hot. From his own mouth he said "We'll have to take it to Mercedes for them to replace the heat shield." Like, what?! You knew the hear shield was missing and you rented this death trap, anyway? I don't recommend anyone rent from this company. Customer service comes last in their book. They don't take responsibility for their product. They only care about the money. They had the audacity to even bill us for mileage after we returned the van. I never look for shortcuts or ways out of an agreement. I wish there was an option to put no stars! The customer service was awful. The owner or whoever manages complaints is awful. Unless they are wrongfully charging a card they kept on file, they will continue to harass you to get what they believe is money owed to them. The vehicles are advertised to be "luxury," but trying to poorly rig a van with household items is not quite my idea of luxury. Maybe a friendly smile or understanding ear would have served them better. From false advertising to gas lighting, call it what you want just don't do business with them. Read all the reviews and follow up comments. Those will certainly shed some light on this business. We rented a vehicle and was told we can return it earlier than expected. Mind you we still paid for the entire time. Days later, we get inundated with phone calls and picture messages that the vehicle was "damaged." Had to cancel van rental. I was not informed of the policy of losing your deposit if you don't cancel within 24 hours. I had to deposit over $600.00. I canceled eight days before actual rental but they refused even a partial refund and are keeping the full deposit. This policy is outrageous. There are a LOT of 1-Star reviews and I am just another customer disappointed by this company's lack of professionalism and business ethic. I made a reservation for a tall sprinter van 6 days ago. The confirmation email even provided me with a reservation confirmation as PDF. I check my email the day of pick up to recheck the pick up details and I see an email from 2 days ago saying they cancelled my reservation. I call them and the 1st guy who I spoke to should never answer the phones. I told him my situation CALMLY as their was no need to become irate...I am just looking for an explanation. He, very defensively, says that they have been sending me emails and calling me to confirm my reservation. I tell him that I work full time and I have never had to confirm a reservation by phone after already receiving a copy of my reservation confirmation. Normally you just come and pick up since they already have all my information (including credit card). He says they have email tracking so he will transfer me to the guy in charge of the emails. The next guy is no good either. Says the same thing that I did not call them back after they tried reaching me multiple times and after sending me multiple emails about contacting them. I received an email confirming my reservation, 1 voicemail saying to call them back, and then the cancellation email. I proceeded to tell him that I work full time so I can't answer calls during working hours. Here's the kicker....he said they closed the pick up location and was trying to reach me to tell me to go to a different location. Why do you even have that location as an option if it is closed? My family and I recently rented a 15-passenger van from Chicago Van Rentals. I would agree with another reviewer that it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Going into this 'blind' and having never dealt with the company before, it really was a good experience & I would highly recommend the company and would use them again. We got a discounted rate through one of the travel sites, which they honored. The process to reserve the van was easy. They coordinated the drop-off at O'Hare perfectly and helped us load & understand the workings of the van before we left the airport. The drop-off process was just as simple. We were traveling with 8 adults & 4 children so it was really nice not have to have everyone get into a shuttle van to get to the rental facility and then back to the airport. This company deletes that process by deliverying & picking up the van right at the terminal. Easy and really appreciated. The staff that dropped/picked-up the van was professional and very helpful. My name is Shavon Harris and I rented a van to travel to Mall of America for my 10 year old son birthday. I booked the appointment for 8:00am online and I didn't make it till 10:00am. When I arrived the employee was already helping someone. I patiently waited and when it was my turn the employee was very nice and polite. However, the van the company tried to give me the t.v was not working. The manager was very rude and said there was nothing he can do about it. Chicago Van Rentals was great. They went out of their way to help me with a last second rental for a long distance road trip for two families. The large 12 passenger Ford Transit (lower ceiling) van was great, clean and well taken care of. The Xbox/Blu-Ray/DVD player came in very handy while traveling with the 4 kids. Rates were great and the fact that they included 3 drivers was even better, so no extra charges to worry about. Beware of the company !! Stay away. I rented the car on my vacation (august 2021) . I booked 12 passengers , but get 15 passengers. But it was not big deal (the price was the same). The car had xbox inside that dosen't work so my kids were disappointed. The problem start 5 months later when they sent me invoice for missing tolls. They try to charge for missing tolls first amount was almost 18$ but They didn't pay on time and sent me invoice 5 months later for first 42.90 with late fee (included). I said that I can pay only 18 $ what I should pay for 4 missing tolls. After couple weeks I receive e-mail That they will charge my card on file for 42.90 $ for missing tolls plus 200 $ administration fee (242.90$) . This was a joke from the company I immediately called to bank to despot the amount. Becareful and check your e-mails very often they formal comunication way is only e-mails. they even didn't call me about it just exchange e-mails. Chicago Van Rentals was the only place around where we could rent a 15 passenger van for a week long trip. They were very accommodating and offered us an upgrade the day we picked up the van. We needed to change one of our drivers spur of the moment and they allowed us to do this via email which was awesome! Besure to check out your van when renting for a trip as some models dont have USB outlets for charging phones/tablets/etc. The van was very clean and offered more room than we needed which made our trip more comfortable. This spot is a scam. They're renting vehicles that actually don't work-- the outlets don't work nor did the TV. The 15 passenger Mercedes Benz sprinter ran really rough. It was not comfortable whatsoever for my trip to Atlanta. The GM is racist. He's very condescending. I felt very uncomfortable during the entire transaction. I made a yelp account just to leave this review in hopes that someone out there will save their money and do business elsewhere. For any musicians in the Chicago, Milwaukee, or Northwest Indiana area, especially touring bands looking for a rental, do NOT book with this company! My band booked a 15-passenger Ford Transit for a short tour, and as soon as we pulled up to the place to pick the van up I knew something was wrong. We scheduled to pick the van up at 8am but the building was empty. The owner or whoever answers their phones gaslit us, saying we booked at 9am and made us wait for an hour for someone to show up and do the paperwork. Once we got the van we drove to pick up a U-Haul trailer, but no electrical signal was picked up by the trailer so we couldn't drive off with it. Calling them again they told us they didn't have any other vans with tow hitches, and that we should take it to a garage in the area to get it fixed. I took the van to every U-Haul and auto shop I could find, but nobody would touch the van because it was a rental. When telling the company this, they simply said to tell them that it WASN'T a rental! (Illegal by the way!) Eventually they did some of the work themselves and gave us a place that would take us in... Two hours away! By the time I got back I had spent a total of SEVEN HOURS driving their van to get fixed for them. We ended up leaving for tour a day late because of an issue they should have known about but didn't fix. A few days into having the rental we got a flat tire and they made zero effort to help us. We called Ford roadside assistance, only for us to find out the vehicle's policy under the rental company had expired. We had to call another roadside company out and pay for it ourselves. At this point we began to discover more problems. They advertise these vans as being premium experiences and price them accordingly. They put an XBox One that can't even play the few pre-loaded games in the van, then try to charge you extra for it. The internal electronics weren't any better. AC outlets stopped working a few days in and only half of the car jacks were capable of charging our phones. Once the tour was over we brought the van back. Take note that they close at 6pm and we brought the van back at 5pm. Just like when we first arrived, the building was empty. We called them and they told us to just leave the van there. No way for us to discuss the issues we had and to demand rightful compensation for wasting our time and money. TL;DR: I would not recommend this company to anyone and I definitely won't be doing business with them ever again. Renting with them was a huge waste of my band's time and money. Whoever answers their phones is incompetent and sketchy, claiming they don't know anything about cars just to make us fix their van for them. This is the first time I have every wrote a review, anyone that knows me will tell you that I never complain about anything but in this case I feel like I should let consumers know to stay away from this rental van company. They are the cheapest price but for the little extra money, for your protection and peace of mind rent from someone else. This is what happened; Last weekend we were going to a football game and had some friends in town and wanted to rent a van that was comfortable for 9 people. We called around and decided to rent a van from CHICAGO VAN RENTALS also known as JMS VAN RENTALS in Bensenville. We booked a Ford Van but when we got there they said the Ford vans were all rented and we had to rent the Mercedes Van, of course there is an up charge. We were in a bind at that point and had no choice since we were picking it up the morning we needed it. To make matters worse they rented us a Mercedes which was all dented, dirty, and in bad shape but we had no choice but to rent it since we had to be to pick up our friends and were already running late (That's not the bad part). When we returned the van they said everything was fine with the van but we received an e-mail later that day saying there was some damage to an outside light at the top of the back door and if we did not pay them more money that they will file an insurance claim. We have pictures from when we picked up the van from a program called Record 360 that time stamps and numbers each picture. When we returned it we walked around the van and signed out and they said everything looks good thank you. At first they tried to tell me that they took pictures of the van when we returned it in front of us but after talking with them they said "well maybe you were inside when I took them, I don't remember", inside meaning in their office retiring the van. The funny thing is the pictures that they sent us after we returned it shows the exact same damage to an outside light at the top of the back door as when we picked it up. They used the same software program to take the pictures when we returned it, even though we did not see them take the pictures but since the damage showed the same it did not matter to me. After we told them to look at what they sent us on the return of the van they sent us additional pictures that show more damage to the same light. The crazy thing is they sent us pictures from a cell phone camera not the program Record 360 that time stamps the pictures. They obviously, did the damage themselves and sent the pictures to us from their cell phone camera. To quote another review "They are crooks"! I advise anyone that rents from this company to be very careful and inspect the van thoroughly before you rent it. read more

After a fair amount of research, my family and I settled on Chicago Van Rental. I was initially drawn to this company because on their website they advertised, falsely, that until June or July something they have a promotion of free delivery of their rentals. When I called and requested this, I was told that because of covid they are no longer providing this. In my mind, I understood, but it was June and covid restrictions etc were in effect back in March. I felt like it was more than enough time to have someone update their website. With that aside, when we arrived to the rental facility my husband decided to again upgrade the vehicle to a larger (that's 2 upgrades now) Mercedes model. It seemed like they were pretty thorough and took many "before" pictures with an ipad. The amenities were either difficult to use or non functioning. One of the reasons we went with this company is that their vans come with a complimentary xbox/tv. The one in our vehicle worked oddly. You needed to hold the remote at a certain upside down angle for it to work. When it was on, it was non-functional. Our mistake for saying nothing about this, but we were excited to go on a trip after being quarantined indoors for months. We were told that we can drop off the van earlier and leave the keys in the drop off box. The paperwork did state that the vehicle is the customer's responsibility until it is checked in. This can be misleading! One would safely assume that the vehicle would be checked in immediately (the following day), but in our case it was not. We dropped off the van on a Friday evening and did not hear anything from them until Sunday afternoon (they are open Saturday and Sunday from 8 am- 6pm). On Sunday afternoon, a gentleman called and said they found damage on the windshield and that we were responsible for it. We questioned their timing given it was dropped off over 24 hours ago, almost 48 hours ago. They proceeded to send us "after" photos, which is fine. We questioned why there were numbers on the after photos and not the before. The response we got was that they are now starting to number their vehicles. There were plenty of back and forth messaging as we were concerned about the timing of their report. We understand their policy, but were far from impressed by the way this was handled. They were rude and defensive. They told us to hire an investigator to prove this was not our fault. The gentleman communicating with my husband about this was arrogant and mean. The way a business handles an upset customer is very telling of their beliefs and values. They did not treat us with any respect. We will never do business with them nor will we ever recommend their services to anyone. read more

Several weeks after rental return, hassling calls about repairs needed due to kids in van. Noting kids didn't seat in these seats. Believe this attempt to claim problem, resulting in a phone call after the rental complaining about fact that 110V plug not in van as advertised, and no windshield washer fluid in van at start of rental. The vehicle was great minus these things, but unless you want to subject yourself to fraud and hassles I would stay away. read more

They are crooks! I rented a van 2 days before I needed it. The guy who assist me said, the refund policy is that I had 24 hours to cancel from the time my card is charged with the $300 deposit. I told the guy, ok let me do the math on how many miles I would be driving and that will determine if I will keep it. The guy says ok. My family and I rented the "luxury" 10 seat sprinter van for a 2000 mile road trip. I inquired about the condition of the van on the phone and I was assured that it was a very nice, road worthy van. I asked to see the van before I rented it, however I was told it was not available before my rental date. When I arrived to pick up the van, I realized why I was not allowed to see it before. It was a smelly wreck. The side passenger door was smashed in and the interior smelled like a dirty bar that was smoked in for years. The much hyped XBOX had one controller that we were never able to get working. During our trip, the van smelled so bad, I opted to stop at a auto detail shop to have it deodorized, at my own expense. Normally JMS prefers to rent out their vans for a week or so, but I needed a 15-passenger van for only six hours on a Sunday. JMS made a good business decision, waiting until it was clear that a van was available for me (i.e. no one else was trying to rent their van when I wanted it) before confirming my rental. Almost a week before I needed the van, JMS let me know they could accommodate me. At the eleventh hour they decided to deliver the van, and then they picked it up the next day too--no extra charge. A quick orientation was all that was necessary. The van was easy to drive (for a big van), the dash controls were easily understandable, and the van was equipped with two backup cameras and excellent side mirrors. I couldn't find a button on the dash or the driver's door for unlocking all the doors, but the key FOB had an unlock button that worked. Driver's seat was comfortable. Diesel engine had plenty of pickup. read more
