We lost our first dog, Ruby, in early May. She was part of our family for over 10 years. I can't express enough the compassion, respect, and professionalism Joe has for his clients and their deceased pets. I first called Joe after it was apparent that our 18 year cat Vinnie was nearing the end and expected him to pass at home naturally. Joe's first words "how are you doing". I explained that the cat was on a steady decline and wanted to use his service based on other services that we have used in the past via the veterinarian's office. We lost our Beloved German Shepherd, Attila the Honey, suddenly this past Saturday morning. My husband has had her since a pup (12 years). My initial experience with them on the phone is that they did not give me enough information. I was planning on going with another company that did however my pet had a quick decline. Joe was able to accommodate and get a vet in the same day so I decided to go with them, which I do appreciate. When the vet (Dr. Z) showed up, I filled out a form. A part of form asked if I wanted a pawprint of my pet. I checked that box and went on with the process. When we went to go pick up the ashes, we were informed that the pawprint was not done and obviously it was too late to go back. I called Joe asking about this and all he said you did not pay for the pawprint over and over again. It seemed as though just because he didn't charge us for it, we had no right to be upset. He just argued and was defensive about it. I was obviously emotional and did cuss but apologized right after. It was just quite frustrating that he did not understand anything besides the fact that he didn't charge us for this. He never mentioned the pawprint in our prior conversation or even stated on the website and there was no way for us to know that this wouldn't have been communicated between the company and the vet. He finally offered an apology after 15 minutes of the conversation. This was quite disappointing as this was already a difficult situation and if a company makes a mistake that can't be taken back like this, you would think someone would be more apologetic. Overall, there is clearly a lack of communication between Joe and this vet. The vet's forms and Joe's forms aren't the same. The customer does not know this so if you check off something on one it will not be passed on. It's completely highly misleading to the customer. My family pet passed away, which left my family pretty heartbroken. We found Chicagoland Pet Cremation, who did an amazing job of helping console us for our loss. We called the phone number, and although he wasn't at the office, the owner was willing to come down to the office to receive our pet. He have us all the time in the world to say goodbye to our friend, and helped to console my mom, who was taking it the hardest. We also ordered a laser engraved ash box for our pet. The engraving didn't come out exactly as the business owner wanted it to, so he made it again until it was perfect, even if it meant that he had to scrap a piece of inventory. The owner was sincere helpful to me and my family during our loss, and took care of us as if he lost own pet. He told us his motivation for starting this business was that he was treated so poorly and wronged by other cremation services, that he wanted to provide a service where bereaving pet owners can be treated the way they should be. I have had pets my entire life and sadly I have had multiple occasions to have my pets cremated. I used to use the vet but they charge a fortune. Then I found out they outsource it so I tried going directly. But it never seemed like the staff cared and I had questions if I was actually getting my pets ashes back. Today is the 3 week mark our sweet angel Pepper left this earth. During this extremely difficult time for my sister, mom, and myself, Joe could not have been the most gracious, compassionate and caring person to us and Pepper. I would give half a star rating at that. This review is for their new location in Roselle, IL This was my first & most definitely interaction w/ this place ever again!!! From the moment I stepped in, it literally looked like they had just moved to this place. Not welcoming at all!!! There was paperwork literally scattered all over the desks/ tables, no organization but quick to take my money. Had planned to have my pet cremated there & ordered a paw & nose print as well. Fast forward to the day of service & the "room" where it was supposed to take place had nothing special about it. Now I'm not expecting something grand but at least respectful & decent. Well you definitely won't get that here! The setting was more a Home Depot workshop type, w/ out exaggeration. There was no way I was going to have our beloved pet services performed there at all. And let me mention that the staff was nice (at the beginning, really more so the first day) but when it came to asking questions / clarifying issues I had, were not helpful at all. A young kid that was there didn't really know what he was doing. And I believe if you're trying to grieve the loss of a pet, they should be empathetic & know how to handle situations such as mine, this was my first time there. The process should have been explained in detail & not just have been given the jist of the process. After leaving w/ our pets' body, we ended up taking him to an actual animal crematory located about 30min from there, worth the drive & everything else that came w/ it. I called the # on the receipt (which let me mention wasn't given to me until the day of the alleged cremation), to speak to the manager/ owner of the facility. Instead of him trying to address my concern at hand, he was debating w/ me that the prints were already done & that I couldn't get reimbursed for services already rendered (which I agree with), but the way this place looked & how I was talked to by the owner, shows that there is no professional etiquette when it comes to the cremation service, let alone his demeanor when addressing someone going through a rough time. Let me mention the prints weren't even ready yet, what I mean by that is that they weren't hardened as they should have been because at the time of pickup, they were still soft....not what you expect if they were done right away when we dropped off our pet. The young kid even laughed it off a bit n said "yeah...that's supposed to be his nose" as he gave me a smirk, like how rude is that?!!! They had a whole 24hrs to do the prints. And to be honest, I truly feel they took their time to even get the started on the prints. I took a loss on what I paid for the prints. Quality from a scale of 1-10...I would say is like about a 4. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH when looking for a respectable place to have your beloved pets remains cremated. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. SAVE YOURSELF THE ENERGY & TIME & GO ELSEWHERE!!! read more
