Wow. This place really raises the bar in every way possible…read more The drinks and desserts are the best I have had IN MY LIFE. Yes that's right. My husband said he had the nest hazy ipa of his life here too. A wild claim for foodies like us. They offer takeout in case you don't feel like crowding inside. AND they have the only pickle plate appetizer I have been able to find in the state of Michigan. Oh how i have missed these house pickles in different brines. The bartenders are not only incredibly talented and knowledgeable, they are friendly, cool, and so interesting! I think every single bartender I talked to over there had these attributes, and some even went above and beyond that too. I know, hard to believe, and the price tag matches. At least they are neither under or overrated? I come here for the bar atmosphere, the impeccable drinks and desserts and sometimes a snack. I prefer to go elsewhere for fresh oysters and dinner.

Super mellow and perfect for a summer night. The staff was young, friendly and attentive and our server was great. Food is mostly tapas and various types of paella, with a solid drink selection including sangria. We tried a little bit of this & that and enjoyed it all. Yes, it's a little pricey, but you feel like you're somewhere worthy of the higher price tag. Great date night joint with a chill vibe. And FYI, the patio is dog-friendly!

Wow, where to start? This unassuming place is packed with flavor and friendly service. We came here…read moreon a Thursday for dinner and were seated right away. Not a lot of space, so we were glad to have gotten a table for 6. I asked the person helping us what she would eat if she was there, hungry, for the first time, and she suggested a sort of off-the-menu item of jerk BBQ. It's on there as an appetizer, but they can make it an entree even though it's not listed. I got medium spice. It was so good. The sweetness from the sauce went great with the spice. I upgraded and got the fried plantains, which were also so good. Salty and sweet. The rice and peas were delicious and perfectly made, and that slaw was chef's kiss. Everything was so good! I also appreciate them being able to split the bill easily. I'm a fan!

2026-08-26. Jamaican Jerk Pit. Ann Arbor, MI…read more OK. So this is really the only game in town when it comes to Caribbean foods, so it's getting an extra star just for that. In all honesty, the food was definitely nothing to write home about. The menu covered all the staples, Jerk Chicken, Curry Goat, Curry Chicken, Dhalpuri Roti, Oxtail, Rice & Peas, beef patties, and even deep fried plantains. Unfortunately, nothing wowed me. We ordered Jerk Chicken, Curry Goat Roti, Oxtail, and a plate of the plantains. Sides included mixed veggies and rice and peas. Jerk Chicken. The chicken was nicely cooked, but the seasoning was light and I didn't get that semi-blackened finish off the grill like I'm used to. We were sharing all the dishes, so I asked for the spicy sauce on the side rather than smother on. I went with the medium and this spice was on par with what I expected. The taste of Scotch bonnet was front and center and the heat intensified as you put more on. 2 stars. Oxtail. The oxtail was much tougher than it should have been, but the sauce was flavorful. 2 stars. Goat Roti. I had asked for this deconstructed rather than wrapped. The curry goat was deboned and the curry was decently flavoured. The meat was also cooked nicely and not tough. 3 stars. The roti was a different story. When I unwrapped the roti, the yellow split pea (dhal) filling spilled out and surprised me. From my experience, the filing should have been rolled into the dough before cooking and should have been a thin layer as it's typically very dry. On the bright side, the Dhal was prepared properly and was crumbly rather than mushy. The spices were light probably catering to local tastes and only subtle hints of cumin, garlic, and heat was noticeable. 2 stars. Plantains. There are two types of Caribbean fried plantains: Maduros (Sweet) made from very ripe, yellow-to-black plantains sliced on an angle and pan or deep fried once until caramelized and tender. Tostones (Savory) made from green, unripe starchy plantains that are sliced, fried once, smashed flat, dipped in garlic salt water, and double-fried to make them extra cripsy. The plantains here were clearly supposed to be Maduros, but they were under ripened. 2 stars. Overall I've had better pretty much with everything we ordered, but I know this is very subjective and heavily reliant on personal preference. Locals clearly love this place since it has over a 4-star rating, but I have to go against the grain here. There are things that I just can't overlook (the toughness of the oxtail and the dhal with the roti) and these are my primary reasons for the "I've had better" 2-star rating. I am bumping my rating up to 3 stars because this is the only game in town; so if you do have a craving for the Caribbean, something is better than nothing... If you'd like to experience more, come dine-with-me.yelp.com I'd love to have your company! Bon Appétit!

Great Brunch, good Lunch, but menu could use more variety!…read more Savas is an adorable restaurant with a really welcoming atmosphere; the space is cute, the environment is lovely, and the staff is genuinely amazing every single time. My first visit was for brunch, and it completely won me over. The buffet had a wonderful variety of food, the mimosas and cocktails were delicious, and for the quality, variety, and service you get, the price point is very fair. I left thoroughly impressed. I came back for lunch excited to experience it again, and while the staff was just as warm and the environment just as great, however, this time the lunch menu didn't quite live up to my expectations. They offer salads, sandwiches, mac and cheese and similar American-style comfort food, which is totally fine, but for a restaurant of this caliber I was hoping for something a little more exciting. I ended up ordering a salad with added shrimp, which was absolutely delicious, and a pomegranate rosemary lemonade that was incredibly refreshing - perfect for a summer day-. But if you're not in the mood for sandwiches, salads, or mac and cheese, your options are pretty limited. My suggestion: keep doing everything you're doing because the hospitality and atmosphere are truly special, but consider expanding the lunch and dinner menu for those looking for a heartier or more diverse meal.

Good margaritas too - not too sweet. Unfortunately my lunch here yesterday was disappointing. I came in because I saw recently that they added Goat Birria tacos to the menu and I wanted to try them out. Sounds amazing. The positives - the meat in these tacos are generous, juicy, and tender. Onions, cilantro and lime to go with. However, the birria was really super salty, overpowering any other flavor. It was unfortunately almost inedibly salty. I'm hoping this was a bad batch, otherwise I would recommend just checking the recipe again to ensure they're serving what they expect. I think this has potential to be a really great taco. I also got a side salad which was basically shredded lettuce, diced tomato and green pepper, and a bit of shredded cheese. It's nothing super special but served its purpose and was a nice respite of freshness with the salty tacos. It comes with your choice of dressing, and they have some fun options. I got the citrus vinaigrette which was tasty! I'm still giving 4 stars instead of lower due to my great experiences here before. Usually Tio's is my favorite for tacos on Liberty when I want a more casual vibe.
