Efficient and friendly, this chick fil a does not lose to any other chick fil a around the country in terms of quality, despite having to serve a ton of people all the time, including obnoxious college students like us. Only downsides are 1) only outdoor seating, and 2) incompetence. Now I sound harsh on the second point but let me explain. When it's a fast food chain, there's not much real variety customers can ask for. It pretty much boils down to vanilla vs regular, spicy vs not, honey vs chick fil a sauce. That's why even though they're small mistakes, the fact that I've experienced these small mistakes so many times is frustrating, especially from a chain such as chick fil a. Once I came here and they got my entire breakfast order wrong - every part of it was wrong in some way. That's just shitty attention to detail that can be easily fixed. That's the main reason for my 3 stars. Once they improve on that, I'll gladly bump it up to 4 or 5. But on the bright side, they offer free breakfast very often. Chick-Fil-A how do I love thee... let me count the ways... If it weren't so damn full all the time this place would be my 5-star fast food place. Its near my house and open every day but Sunday...which of course is how they get us to crave it even more. Their biscuits have the same crack that krispy kreme puts in their donuts so don't be surprised if you find yourself craving more. Excellent restaurant really has you second guessing your sanity by repeatedly saying "show me your receipt" as they look confused why you have been freezing outside the store at their ordering window for 30 minutes. Even we started wondering if we just handed them almost $200 for the order or not. As a bonus, you get to test the quality of your friendships as you try to explain why there's no catering at a catered event two days in a row - even after we got a "guarantee" that we'd get our order on time the second day. Let me start by saying that the food is really, really good! Definitely better than McDonalds, which is across the street, and costs just about the same. However, the fact that they don't have an inside dining area really bugs me. I mean, as if this isn't Texas and it doesn't get hellishly hot outside. I suppose in the winter this might be okay. There is no deterrent in place for the birds, who are unafraid of humans, as most Austinites know. So they will basically get up on the table ( ewww! ) and try to take your food. Ordered through the app. But it was a weird process in that I paid via the app but when picking up the food they said the card didn't go through but the app still said everything was good and I got a receipt. So I think they charged me twice because the app said I paid AND I paid again at the window. I'm waiting for my card statement to verify. Besides that, we we're at the Capitol building and needed a late dinner for myself and the family. Got 3 kids meals and 2 adult meals. Everything was delicious and fresh as usual. The chicken strips have the absolute best flavor ever per my wife. The only 'complaint' (I say that lightly as we really love our chic fil a) is that we made sure to order ALOT of ketchup. It's even on our receipt. We got ZERO ketchups. Did you notice the THREE kids meals? Yeah the owners of those meals were really missing their ketchup. Should I have checked before leaving? Ehhhhh sure. But a.) It's chic fil a, they have their stuff together and b.) It was chaotic and we were rushing. All in all we love chic fil a and if they thought we didn't need ketchup tonight then that's alright I suppose. But I really hope it doesn't happen again. Two people have been infected with COVID at different times and didn't shut down for those time periods, but instead they "sanitized" the entire building leaving those who could possibly be infected by the virus still working and serving the surrounding area. Five stars! ...Minus one for no outdoor seating. When I first looked at the page, I was so confused how a Chick-Fil-A could receive anything else than five stars! Then... I remembered. While this locations boasts TWO very quick drive through lines, there is unfortunately no indoor seating. While this hasn't been an issue since its opening, I can forsee many patrons being upset that they are being forced to eat their delicious CFA in sweltering heat. Hopefully by that point, CFA figures out how to keep customers cool in the middle of the summer. Another downside that becomes noticeable during the lunch rush and rush hour, is that traffic now becomes incredibly backed up right on MLK between Nueces and Guadalupe. However, note that this is not JUST CFA's fault, as Raising Cane's next door does contribute to the traffic jam. I would avoid this stretch of road at all costs between 11:30-1, and 4:30-6. Aside from the few unpleasant features, this CFA is my favored location as opposed to the on-campus locations, mostly because those are vendors and not true CFA locales, and the employees at this location, like at all other real CFA's, say "my pleasure" after communicating with you. I pick up lunch regularly for my kids and teachers at their school (as do a lot of other parents). Having the ability to order online is so helpful because the lines are often long and the last thing you want to do is be late to bringing your child lunch. What's great is they have a mobile pick up parking area. What's not great is the last 2 times I've been here to pick up an order, there is no way to access this area because they block the driveway with their own Chick Fil A vehicles. Yes, they have a regular parking lot but guess what? When they are busy, the drive thru line prevents you from getting to that parking lot OR the handful of spots they have are already taken. Frustrating to see these empty mobile spots and not be able to find a parking spot to pick up my mobile order. I am writing this in the hopes a manager will see this and make a change. I tried speaking with an employee about it and got brushed off. He did not even seem to be aware those are mobile order pick up spots, not did he seem to even care about my feedback. read more

Instead of trying to fix it, Courtney from this location couldn't bother to find the note left from previous person to replace two missing meals from last time, she comped one meal "as a favor to us." I don't understand the low rating because this is probably the best location in Austin for a few reasons: Great location on MLK - near downtown and campus. Food is ALWAYS on point. I've been to Chickfilas where the food seems unfinished, but the food here is always hot and the fries are always crispy. This place is open late! I love Chick-Fil-A sooooo much, but this is the first time I've ever been disappointed. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, but instead of a chicken patty, I wanted grilled chicken. The lady at the register (Alyssa per my receipt) gave me the hardest time and charged me for $6.19 for the meal and then charged me again for a single bun, single Colby jack, single tomato and single bacon even though that comes on the chicken sandwich combo already - so why am I paying so much? I always get good service here. Service is exceptional and the food is always delievered fast whether you're using the Drive-Thru or dining in. When you dining usually someone comes around to refill your drinks and take any trash of your table. I never got this great of a service at a fast food restaurant before! It was nice to have this location just off-campus of UT Austin. It's rather easy to locate, right on MLK and a little bit west of Guadalupe. This location has a drive through and outdoor seating. The way this location was built was only with outdoor seating. The inside of the store is staff only. Most of the tables here seat about 4-6 people. I'd say total seating capacity is around 20-30 people. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the outdoor seating. It can get incredibly hot in the summers here. During allergy season, sitting outside is no bueno, nor is it fun to sit outside during the winters. I have nothing against outdoor seating, I just wished there was an option to sit inside. The staff are always nice and accommodating. I've never had trouble getting what I needed. The food is staple Chick-fil-A. Can't go wrong here in terms of the food. Bonus: This location does free breakfast every Wed. during the 2015-2016 school semester. I believe it's from 6-10:30 am every Wednesday. They also have the pink receipt thing where every month they have a day where whatever you order on that day will appear on a colored receipt, and you can redeem the receipt the next month for the same things you ordered, for free! So I went to Chick Fil A today because I wanted to taste the new spicy chicken sandwich. There was no way in hell I would have waited a couple weeks ago for the free spicy chicken sandwich they were giving away! Chick Fil A has amazing consistency through all their stores. Each store I go to has amazing service. Culvers is the only other brand that I can find that has the same level of service. The people working there prob make 8-9 bucks an hour and typically for lower paying jobs, you don't find much service. But Chick Fil A manages to find good employees. In any case, service here is always good. They have very efficient lunch time service with staff that come out and take your order and deliver to your car. I was quite satisfied with my spicy sandwich and the service. BTW, it REALLY is spicy. Usually when I eat something "spicy," it's mild and the opposite of spicy. read more

I think this will be another solid Chick-fil-a location! I'm glad it's right by my office, as I'll be frequenting here often. This spot has a dual-drive thru (with a conveyor belt to bring food to the 2nd lane, awesome), but even so be prepared for the line to back up into the street during peak times. It's kind of hard to see pedestrian and car traffic merge when the 2 drive thru lanes exit, so be cautious (I almost nailed a guy). I imagine the speed of the drive thru is going to be limited to the ability to exit onto MLK, which unfortunately Chick-fil-a won't have any control over. There's a neat outdoor patio with a lot of seating; I'll peruse that once the weather cools down a bit (November). Looks very open and inviting. Food is spot on! My meal was hot, fresh, and tasty, just like you'd expect at any location. Overall, I'm glad to see that this place has all the makings of a solid downtown staple! Austin has been needing a downtown Chick-fil-a for a while, and now we've got one. Back when you used to get orders right, ask how a customer's day was, be quick with your service, have great food, and actually genuinely apologize for your mistakes. Instead it's now ALL excuses for sub par service, messed up orders, sub par/ cold food, rudeness, and half hearted apologies filled with excuses. Here's my ridiculous nightmare at the MLK drive through location near UT campus. 1) Visit. Get a rude young lady who made me consistently repeat my order, no greeting, no thank you. I pull up and get sweet tea instead of unsweetened tea. Turn back around and after explaining the rudeness and order mess up to a "manager" I'm giving an excuse that the tea was mixed up and offered a coupon for items that I didn't order/ would never order. No apology or addressing of the rudeness or poor service. Get home, cold and overcooked nuggets. 2) Visit. Leave drive through. Get home and realize I was given 8 count nuggets instead of 12 count. Call and talk to the "manager" at the time. Told they're sorry and if I wanted to drive all the way back. Instead I ask if I can get a call from owner. Told yes. Never get a call. 3) Visit. Despite a car in front of me already being pulled over waiting on items, I'm told I need to drive forward and park. But I'm actually instructed to go park on a side street bc there's no room to wait in front bc other people are already waiting. Funny that this location had no problem collecting payment quickly, but the customer then has to wait. And why would you make multiple customers pull forward and wait. In addition, there was a "manager" shouting these orders to the drive thru attendant. Why not instead be a leader of great service nd come address the customer directly, instead of hiding. When my order is brought out to me, I'm given a quick apology and again a coupon for the item they're currently pushing, not anything that I'd want. And no real attempt to adress the issue of rude/ poor service. Get home and have a kale salad instead of the normal side salad I wanted. 4) Visit tonight. Rude attendant is more concerned about non working headset. Mixes up drink order and doesn't pack all items. Plus food is cold/ old. Family gave up halfway through entrees. Call in to talk to "manager", given excuses, and told it will be days before I can talk to owner/ GM. No specific time offered. I know they work Monday, but was told they will not guarantee a call bc Mondays can be busy. What is going on and why is no one at this location willing to fix? Is the owner just that out of touch of what's going on? Has the business model/ standards changed or been lowered? I frequently use ChickFilA as a model of excellence and was a fan of Truett and Dan Cathy's vision and business standards, but sounds like this may not be the case. Help!?!?!? read more
