On my birthday, I visited this Chick-fil-A location that sits just within steps of Chicago's iconic Chicago Theater, and the Medieval Torture Museum which I had just visited for a tour. I vowed that during my next visit to a Chick-fil-A location that I would order one of their salads. However, once I made my way up to the counter to order a salad, that all changed, tehehe. Once I saw Mac & Cheese on the menu, I totally disregarded any thoughts of ordering a salad. I ended up ordering a Mac & Cheese, and Waffle Potato Fries w/ a Fanta Orange. After ordering, the employee gave me a 'Be our guest' gift card which featured a choice of one out of four free redeemable breakfast items that can be redeemed at any Chick-fil-A location. My order was completed within a reasonable timeframe, as I literally pulled out extra napkins from the dispenser. Since I had no other plans at the time, I dined in and absolutely enjoyed the view from the window. Lake & State is one of my favorite parts of downtown Chicago because it brings back many memories of my past visits to the city as a tourist; and memories while taking college classes at Harold Washington College which sits diagonal of this Chick-fil-A. As for my order, the outside portion of the Mac & Cheese was burnt, however, its taste made up for its appearance. And of course, the Waffle Potato Fries did not disappoint as I knew they would not. As for returning you bet I will, if in the downtown Chicago area and I get just the slightest craving for some of those Waffle Potato Fries that Chick-fil-A is known for. Atmosphere: 5 | Service: 5 | Food: 3 1/2 Recommendations: Waffle Potato Fries, Mac & Cheese, Greek Yogurt Parfait, Kale Crunch Side, or Side Salad. ~ Smile. It looks good on you. ~ Thomas G

Located on Lake and Michigan, this fast food joint normally functions quickly and i am in and out. My order is not always right but I understand that they are hiring inexperienced staff members. I was not happy because the inexperienced manager did not have good customer service skills. I should have asked for his manager. So I made my order and AFTER paying, he mentioned my order would be 20 minutes late. I asked to talk to a manager and he said that he was. I asked why 20 minutes and asked for a refund in cash because I had gift card. After he asked someone in back, he said that the card would be refunded but I wanted cash because I didnt want to come back if it didn't work. It appeared to work but now I have to take the trouble of checking later. Monday blues.

It's always busy but that's not an issue for us to come here to eat. This is my husband and my place to eat after school. We both are students and after class we both come to get a bite to eat. We always get the chicken strips and nuggets. Sooo good. I love their fries, but the true stars are the sauces. We always get the herb and ranch. And dip everything we get in it. There's no need for ketchup. Costumer service is also great and fast. Not one single rude cashier. They are very organized. Good job

Love this location! They are always busy, but they work quickly and efficiently! I've never had any issues with my order or scoring extra condiments for my meal! If you're in the area be sure to check them out!

Chick-fil-A is one of my favorite fast food places. I got the combo #1. I love their chicken. Its freshly fried. Nice and crunchy. They are located in a pretty nice location (downtown). One thing I love about their chicken is that its nice, juicy and crunchy. Awesome service on top. Remember to ask for their special sauce. You will be missing out if you don't get it.

Dirty restaurant. Look at the dust on the ceiling, never clean, not your typical chick Fila

Not your typical Chick-fil-A. They never come around to refill your drink or get your trash. They constantly have a long line and the customer service is subpar wouldn't recommend this to Tourists if they have another option

I came, I killed the salad in which I adore!!!

We bopped in and little to our surprise, it was the best decision we made all day. I got the shawarma bowl with gryo and the garlic sauce fries and wow, everything was to die for. I wish I wasn't just visiting Chicago so this place was more accessible to me everyday. But I fear i'd go broke if this was in my city. This is a great quick lunch option especially if visiting the zoo/park/beach area. Everything felt light, fresh, and healthy. It felt a little pricey for me but it's Chicago so it may be normal so take that as you will but for how delicious and the amazing ingredients it's worth it. Especially that dang pink sauce on the fries....you've got to get the garlic sauce fries if you check this place out. Some of the most beautiful and tasty fries i've ever had! The atmosphere is cute and bright too. A happy place to eat lunch and hang out in! I'm not from Chicago so i'm already missing this place! Add to your "must try" list for sure!

Dresscode: Smart Casual / Casual Noise Level: Medium (it gets buzzy after 5:30pm) Thursday night Happy Hour was lively, so it took about 10-15 minutes for someone to come around, but service was attentive once we got going. The food is where Ēma really shines. From the Happy Hour menu, the Charred Eggplant Hummus and Crispy Potatoes were generously portioned and great for sharing. On the main menu, the Indian-Mediterranean fusion Bhel Hummus was a party for my taste buds, while the Hot Honey Halloumi and Chicken Kefta rounded out the table nicely. The halloumi is more of a side than a main, but that sweet-and-salty hot honey combo was chef's kiss. For our finisher, the Chocolate Torte knocked us out. Decadent, delicious and chocolate with lots of depth. Overall, Ēma is an excellent spot to order a bunch of dishes for the table and get an elevated meal without feeling stuffy, and delicious without taking itself too seriously. DO's: - Make a reservation ahead, especially for happy hour 4-6pm - Treat apps like small plates, order 2-3 to sample - Entertain their wine list, they have a lot! - Bring vegetarians here, there are plenty of options DON'Ts: - Dismiss the desert menu. It's fantastic and shareable! - Forget to ask for extra pita with the hummus! - Miss out on the LettuceEats loyalty points (check-in with your server before paying your check)

Sat at the bar and the bartender wasn't in the best mood. Minus one star for the combination of the large pieces of cabbage core and sat at the bar for about 15 minutes - no one was there to serve us.

They played good music and wasn't too loud. You could easily carry on a conversation or , like me, continue listening to a podcast. By the time I finished, the place was completely full and a bit noisy, but not bad. I started out with a 10oz Birds of Prey Pilsner. It was very nice. Light and crisp and very easy to drink. I followed that up with Melodious Maibock and ordered the CBG burger with fries. I didn't have lunch so I dove right in and forgot to snap a photo. It was a very good smash burger. It was cooked well and I really liked the combination of pickled onion and caramelized onion. I didn't see it until later but you can add bacon. As much as I loved this burger, bacon would totally take it up a notch! I started chatting with the bartender about their different beers and decided to have the Super Melodious Jalapeño Maibock with the burger. It's soooo different, but in a good way. It paired so well with the burger. You get green bell pepper on the nose and a hint of it on the palate. When you swallow you get a little heat at the back of the throat. It was so good! Great bar. Great food. Great beer. Go check them out!
