Five Guys is the kind of place that makes you question both your wallet and your self-control. The burger was solid, the fries showed up like they were feeding a family of six, and everything tasted fresh. But somehow I walked in for "just a burger" and walked out wondering if I'd accidentally financed a small home improvement project. The free peanuts are a nice touch, although they seem to exist mainly to distract you while your total climbs higher and higher. Would I go back? Not sure. The food is good, the portions are huge, and sometimes you just need a greasy burger fix. Just be prepared for your receipt to remind you that inflation has entered the chat. read more

I placed an online order at Five Guys and was extremely disappointed. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with an extra patty and waited 30 minutes to pick it up. When I finally got my food, there was no bacon and no extra patty--basically not what I paid for. I brought it to the attention of the person at the counter. He looked at my receipt and said, "I got you," which I assumed meant they would fix it. But nothing happened. I sat there, ate the wrong order, and no one followed up or offered to remake it. We have gone to Five Guys right before we saw Billy Joel/Stevie Nicks, Pink, Coldplay, etc. It gets busy but the service is fast. We always manage to get a seat. Not really knowing the area, I was looking for some food to take back to the hotel,luckily 5 Guys was just around the corner. I've been to other Five Guys before so I'm familiar with the food. Since I was the only one there, service was quite quick. I had ordered the BLT and a side order of fries. Few minutes later, the order was ready. When I returned to the hotel.... I opened the bag, I found the BLT and the abundant amount of fries. Of course, the fries were well seasoned and the BLT was incredible. The food is extremely overpriced for no reason. My daughter's hotdog was burnt and we had to return it and ask for a cheeseburger instead. I have been to my share of 5 Guys in the US and one of the things I enjoy is it's consistency. This particular location, while the service was as good as every other 5 Guys, the finished product was a mess! I couldn't get a pic of it since it wouldn't be fair to the workers (it was raining and I was in a rush) but I don't know if I'd call what I received a burger as much as a messy pile of wet food wrapped in foil. There was so much condiment on the sandwich that both buns were no longer bread but piles of wet dough. All that being said, the pile of wet food was as tasty as any 5 Guys sandwich and as I said, the service was good, hence the 3 stars. read more

Not sure what's up with the low reviews but my experience was 5 stars. Great service and honestly truly nice people who are working hard. I got a cheeseburger with a few add ons - grilled mushroom and onion and jalapeño. A nice combo, and the Cajun fries had a nice flavor. Loved how generous they were with my small portion! They gave me a bag overflowing with fries :) also this is a great location right in the south loop near plenty of grocery stores so I was able to do my grocery shopping after a quick din. Is there really anything better than five guys? The answer is not really. This location in the South Loop is located right around the corner from the Roosevelt train station. Every time I walk in (which recently is atleast 1-2 times per week ) I am greeted by the happy employees behind the counter. The burgers at this location are always cooked to perfection and buns are perfectly toasted. My favorite is just a classic little (little means one patty as they normally come with 2) cheeseburger with ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, and tomato and they nail it every time. I am not the biggest fan of 5 guys fries, but if you are you won't be disappointed at the amount of fries that come with a small order. A small is more than enough to feed 2 people. I have recently started adding on an Oreo milkshake and if you are extra nice they will let you add extra Oreos... and boy is it good! This location is run very well and is definitely the best 5 guys location I have been to! read more

I'm from Arlington. The birthplace of Five Guys. Is it as good as the real deal? Pretty much. Sorry In-N-Outers, but Five Guys kicks your ass. It's bitter sweet that this place wasn't around while I was at Columbia. If it were, I'd be a fatso. The burgers at Five Guys are really flavorful and come doubled up in each burger so there is plenty of food. You choose your toppings right at the register. You know what you want, you know what you get. It really hits the spot. The fries are really spectacular and so are the shakes. Really, everything on the menu is awesome and peanuts are free. Kind of random, but they're there. The staff was many and they were really friendly. If it tells you anything, Five Guys was voted best burger in DC every year since 99 or something. What can I say. It's burgers at its best. I mean the toppings border on endless: Mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomato, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, jalapeño peppers, green peppers...need I go on!!!! There are big burgers and little burgers. A small fry feeds two people. Sometimes the wait can be a little long but the food is worth it. Literally worst experience at any Five Guys EVER. Advertise curbside pickup so I go and they refuse to do it. Make me come in even though I am 7 months high risk pregnancy. Then they tell me they no longer serve strawberry shakes at any Five Guys even though I just placed the order. This beats In and Out Burgers in CA, but they are different. (Not a big fan of I&O, sorry.) Higher price point for a burger about $8 and $5 depending on what u order. I didn't pay much attention, this was my late dinner. My request for a bag to take home some in the shell peanuts was given. I'll get to those for a nice snack. My buddy and I came here and as we walked in, we noticed two dudes kind of loitering out in front of the location... They were sort of peeking in... but hanging out in front of the location... So we walk in and as we walk in, there's one guy ahead of us and as we are waiting we notice all of the employees are looking out towards the front of the business where the two guys are... So it's like the guys outside are looking and the employees are looking... So my buddy and I look at each other and wonder is there about to be a shooting?
