The very first Chick-fil-A is located in the food court at Ala Moana shopping center. I was going to wait til the hype died down because the lines have been so long every time I've been in the area. Well I decided to brave the line and I was surprised how quickly it went. They have staff come up to you in line to take your order on a computer. You can pay on the spot. Then as you get closer to the front, another staff member brings your order to you. Pretty efficient. I ordered the original chicken sandwiches. Chicken was crispy. Had good flavor and the bread was soft. The waffle fries were crispy but it's slight seasoning. I've been to a few Chick-fil-A restaurants on the mainland so I knew what to expect. The only downside was that I thought it was kind of pricey for what you get. I guess you're also paying Ala Moana prices too. Where everything is a little inflated. So weird to eat Chick-Fil-A in Hawai'i, instead of bingeing during trips to the continent. The first O'ahu location opened two weeks ago in the Ala Moana food court. The line looks loooooooong but it moves pretty quickly. They've got the system worked out and it maybe took 10-15 minutes to get an early dinner during the Made in Hawaii Festival weekend. Pretty good, given how we love to flood businesses that finally open here. It doesn't appear that you can order on the app (yet? maybe giving it time to get the crowd down?) but you can claim rewards after the fact. My only beef (er, chikin?) is that my nuggets were a tad overcooked, so they didn't taste quite like I remember. I walked by a few times and I always noticed a long line. I went on a Saturday night at 7 pm, and thankfully the line was shorter. Chick-fil-A set up a sign near the steps at the Ala Moana food court. If you reach that sign by the steps, it's about a 15-20 minute wait for your food. As of November 2022, you order your food while standing in line. There's staff members that will take your order on tablet devices. You can check the menu ahead of time by scanning the QR code on the signage. There will also be mini copies of the menu posted on the stanchions. The staff members are very friendly and you don't feel rushed during the experience. I struck up conversation with someone in line who recommended the deluxe sandwich. The deluxe has chicken, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. I got the meal which includes waffle fries and a drink. I chose to get the sweet tea for my drink. So I ordered while in line and paid using a credit card. The line keeps moving which is nice. You feel yourself getting closer at least. While standing in line, I actually got my order before some people in front of me. This is mostly likely because my order was simple (and I only bought 1 meal). I tried out the deluxe sandwich, and it was pretty good. I like the balance between the protein and the vegetables. It feels more like a hearty meal instead of just eating chicken on some bread. I had the sweet tea and it was delicious. Not overly sweet. The waffle fries were probably my least favorite. I felt like it was lukewarm and didn't have much going for it. It didn't stand out to me. Even my chicken sandwich was lukewarm, so the items I bought were probably prepared earlier and sitting on a warmer. I've had Chick-fil-A on the mainland and my food would come out piping hot. Chick-fil-A finally made landing in 50th state. What a treat is was to give their famous original chicken sandwich a try. They keep ordering line organized and have workers assist with ordering, only credit card, no cash, check their menu while waiting to order to make the process move faster. They have a waiting area after ordering once they called your order. They have several workers assisting with passing out the orders, call by your first name and always thank you and wish you good day. The employees seems very bubbly and happy to work there. Once I got my order, I ate their waffle fries, crispy and delicious. The chicken sandwich bread soft, moist, chicken was cooked just right and juicy. You really cannot go wrong with a good chicken burger. Since the opening recently, the line has decreased just a tad bit however the line does go by faster than you know it. Located at the food court of Ala Moana Center, go on the weekdays just so you could skip a long busy line on Saturdays. So happy that we finally got a Chick-fil-A in Hawaii! I wished they were located other than the Ala Moana Center Food court thou. I believe they are opening up more locations that have a drive thru. One location replacing the Burger King on south Beretania st. I placed my pick up order online on the app. It was very easy to select what I wanted. I was already in the mall so I thought that would be the quickest thing to do. It was a Saturday night so they were busy. Once you place your order you walk up to the mobile order check in line. There are multiple rows of people. A staff member calls out your name and hands you your order. I thought it would be quicker than the 20 minutes I had to wait for my food. Since I ordered ahead, but they were super busy. The pick up order process seems sufficient. I ordered their chick-fil-A sandwich which is their fried chicken sandwich it was super yummy, and I opted for the brioche bun. They also have a gluten free bun. For my side I chose their side salad, it is quite large for a side salad. I love that you can choose multiple dipping sauces (2) for everything you order. I also ordered their nuggets and my husband ordered their grilled chicken club sandwich. He also ordered a milkshake. He enjoyed everything! One star for the Cobb Salad that had spoiled lettuce. Their employee help and their semi non salted half soggy waffle fries were probably the best but maybe 2 stars. Their crispy chicken sandwich is not even close to Popeyes. It was overcooked and dry. This place is an absolute mess. But an organized mess. It's the first location to open in Hawaii so you know it's going to be busy for awhile. It's located in the food court and all you have to do is look for the line. Every time we've come to the food court, there's a line. The line looks daunting but it really does move fast. They have a pretty efficient system here. They have workers who take your order while you're in line and by the time you get to the front, your order is ready. If yelp had half stars, this would be a 3.5 rating. I was reluctant to try Chic-fil-A when they first opened, as those lines looked outrageous! Now, I've never tried them before, so I have no bias as to what they should or should not be. When I parked my car, I opened the yelp app and made a mobile order. Easy enough! I wasn't sure what I wanted, so I opted for the nuggets and their original sauce. Waffle fries and a half-lemonade and tea. The wait wasn't that long, and it looks like they have streamlined the ordering process. It was about 11:45, and I waited in the mobile order "parking lot" for maybe 5 minutes. I was handed my order and I went looking for a spot to sit and eat. My first response to the fries, were that they were well seasoned, not salty, but just how I like them. Then I opened the box with the nuggets. Can't really say it was as I expected, but those nuggets were small, so I am glad they gave more than 8 pieces. I'm originally from South Carolina, so Chick-fil-A has been a part of my life from a very young age. That being said, I was reluctant to hit the mall to give this new location a shot based on my distain of crowds and lines. Yet, yesterday I found myself at the mall to pick up a book with my youngest daughter and thought we might as well see if the crowd was minimal. We headed down to the food court and low and behold the line was virtually non-existent and our wait was only about 5 minutes. I have to say that the customer service was fantastic and exceptionally efficient. Literally, in and out in 5 minutes. Impressive. The food was pretty much what I remember, and the quality was excellent. The prices were MUCH higher than I was expecting. However, living in Hawaii for almost 20 years, I should not have been surprised. Suggestion: If you find yourself craving the flavor of Chick-fil-A and don't want to wait in line or pay the high prices, head over to Sam's Club and buy the Members Mark chicken bits or chicken sandwich. We finally had a chance to try out Chick-fil-A because we were at Ala Moana and we saw that the lines were shorter than normal. I was standing in a line and they worker asked me if I ordered. They said I have to stand in another line to order to move up to that pick up line. It seems like a good system. You order and then the worker puts it into the system and you just wait until your order comes out. The system worked pretty well. I ordered the deluxe Chick-fil-a sandwich meal, my husband got the spicy chick-fil-a sandwich meal, and my daughter got the kids meal with nuggets. At first bite, my sandwich was good. I liked the flavors. It was good as is without the sauce. I put the sauce in for just some added flavoring in it. I liked the idea of the waffle fries, no other place offers those kind of fries so it was nice and different. My daughter had five pieces for her nuggets and waffle fries. All in all it was pretty good and I was satisfied. The one way it could be improved if the fries were crispier. Maybe if it were double fried it would be perfect. It's about time Chick-fil-A opened in Hawai'i. Like any new restaurant in Hawai'i, the place usually has ridiculous long lines when they open for weeks. This location is in the Makai Food Court in Ala Moana Center. You can't miss them at the moment as you'll still see a line of people and a ton of staff in red shirts with their tablets taking orders. I personally don't care for lines but it moved efficiently when we were there. We got our food within 15-20 minutes so that wasn't too bad. Customer service was friendly and they were generous with their sauces as others have mentioned. We ordered 2 Chick-fil-A Deluxe sandwiches, 1 Spicy Deluxe sandwich, 12 ct Chick-fil-A Nuggets and a medium Side Waffle Potato Fries. I asked for all the sauces expected Polynesian and Ranch. Even though we had to run a quick errand before heading home, the food was still warm. I personally had 1 Chick-fil-A Deluxe sandwich and 1 Spicy Deluxe sandwich. Between the two, the Spicy had more flavor and I liked it more. I always have to add sauces to finish the Chick-fil-A Deluxe sandwich. The nuggets were quite good (tried for the first time)! First of all, I received the absolute worst service from the associate that took my order. She pointed at me to scoot up, even though there was no one in line behind me, didn't greet me or anything and gave me attitude the entire time. First on the island and everyone wants to be the first to try a piece of the mainland. Got here around 7:15pm. Mall closes at 9. This is Halloween weekend, so figured might be worse. Surprisingly the line has is fast and organized. Let me break it down: Line started outside the mall right in front of the LED video JoliBee signage. As you progress through the line (which didn't take long), the Chik Fil Employee hooks you up with one number based on how many people you get going in the line. I'm fat, so he gave me the number 2 (jus joking). I am fat, but he gave me the number 2 for a different reason. He then directs you to walk in to the mall to another line. This is smart cuz you don't create a blockage like what my arteries is gonna have from so much burgers. Chick Fil Employee #2 then takes your number and you proceed in that line. Any people who thinks they can "Karen" their way into the line, she smiles and gives them finger. Be The pointer finger to the outside line where I first began. The line then breaks down into 2 lanes and get a lot of employees that have iPads, Credit Card Readers and Change belts. They take your order and you remain in line. Wait in this section was very fast. You move onto another section and Chik-Fil-Employee #3 confirms your order again. After that, you don't even go to the counter. They bring it up to you! Mento note: I wonder if I dressed for Halloween as a person with slacks and Aloha shirt or one red shirt and slacks, would I be able to walk into Chick Fil A. Nah, don't try this. The line was fast enough that we almost beat my wife's single order at Pepe's We tried the: Chik-Fil-A (7/10) Chik-Fil-A Deluxe with American cheese (7/10) Chik-Fil-A nuggets (5/10) Waffle fries (5/10) The nuggets was a little on the burnt side. I like my nuggets crispy, but you could taste that it was swimming a bit too long in the oil. The sandwiches didn't knock my socks off. They were good, not great. We picked up food from this chick-fil-a Saturday Dec 3RD around 3pm. Drove all the way home and sat down to eat our food when my friend noticed his straw wasn't working. Opened the lid to his cup and there were some napkins stuffed in the bottom of his sweet tea. We have no idea if they grabbed the drip cup, filled it and served it to him. We ordered their chicken deluxe meal with fries and a sunjoy (drink). We also got their 12-piece nuggets. I was disappointed to find out as we were ordering that they ran out of Chick-fil-A sauce. Though, I'm glad they don't charge for sauces. A nice little tip is to go to Raising Canes and pay $.50 for a container of their Canes sauce. It went well with the chicken. As for the food, the chicken itself has good flavor. Not bland or soggy. I will say I think we got the bottom of the fry basket because it wasn't very crispy or hot. The nuggets seem like they got a lot smaller than when I had them 4-5 years ago. I wouldn't even call them nuggets; they're more like popcorn chicken. Chicken sandwich was good, but I wasn't a huge fan of the american cheese on it. In conclusion, I would go back but probably not for a while until the hype dies down.
