Simply impressed. The food is hot, and the service is super courteous and attentive. For breakfast they have a variety of egg sandwiches with their famous chicken in some of them. The hash browns and biscuit are made well, and there is a little coffee bar for you to select your choice of creamer. This is what impressed me about this place that I've never been to for breakfast before: Service- fast, and the cashier serving me was speaking some really good Spanish to the Spanish speaking customers! Gotta love a good fried chicken sandwich. My first Chick-fil-A experience was at this Santa Barbara location and from that moment, I was a fan. The business moved into what used to be a Burger King and has the very rare advantage of a grandfathered drive-thru queue. Santa Barbara proper no longer allows drive-thru restaurants to be built, so this building was some prime real estate. Others will complain that the drive through line is too backed up, but I feel that this restaurant does the very best they can. They have expanded to two separate lines and there are always several team members quickly working to keep the line moving. I appreciate how fast-paced they all are. I never feel that I have wait long at all. Other than their incredible chicken sandwich (it's really delicious considering it's a fast food item), I love their frosted lemonade. It's a cross between frozen lemonade and a vanilla shake. I feel it pairs well with their spicy chicken sandwich as it provides my mouth a little comfort after the zing from the spiciness. I also really love their Chick-fil-A sauce which I'd compare to a cross between ketchup, mayonnaise, honey mustard, and barbecue sauce. Not sure exactly what the ingredients are but it's the perfect complement to those infamous waffle fries. Pricing may be on the high side for fast food, but the quality and service completely justify this. As usual, friendly customer service, generous helpings of sauces and a drive thru (not many in SB) I like the food, however docked it two stars because they haven gotten my order wrong twice now (drive thru). Seems to be a recent problem with them, as they are usually good. The first time I had an issue, they forgot to include 1 of my Fries in my order, and then just yesterday, I ordered a 4 piece strip meal, but received only 3 strips in the box. I usually trust chic-fila drive thru's, but will have to start checking my meals now before I leave this establishment. Also if the drive thru line is backed up to state street, do not block/wait in line on State street. SB Police will ticket you and you will lose your place in line. This can make getting into the parking lot difficult during lunch/dinner times. Overall happy the SB got some new chain fast food restaurant. I love this place so much! It usually is a long wait for lunch, but is well worth it. The employees are always friendly and remembers you. The food on the other hand is delicious and the ice cream is like no other. You can taste real ingredients compared to perhaps a McDonald's ice cream. All in all, It's a great place to stop and have some lunch. Update: My husband and I had went here today, 11/11/19 due to it being Veterans Day and a website for militaries had Chick FIl A on it, so with us loving Chick Fil A, we went. When we drove to the drive thru, we had asked about the deal and the lady replied, "Oh, we are not doing that here." Now I could've been like okay, but the tone of her voice came off as rude and on top of that, my ice cream we had added to the order, was never added. Exemplary customer service and great fast food. If you're familiar with how Chick-fil-A runs its franchises, this location is no exception. The store is located along the upper part of State Street, next to Rusty's Pizza Parlor. It's the only one in Santa Barbara, unfortunately. The city appears to have a personal vendetta against most national food chains (1 KFC, 1 Jamba Juice, 1 Pinkberry, and 1 Denny's within the city limits). Chick-fil-A does not share the parking lot with other establishments, which is nice. There is a decent number of spots. The drive-thru is usually busy, and there's always a line inside to order. I grew up with a couple of Chick-fil-As in my area, so the experience was exactly what I expected. The menu is very short and simple, with options for everyone. The waffle fries are to die for, and so are the milkshakes. And however you like your chicken: spicy, chargrilled, strips, nuggets, or hand-breaded, your meal will still turn out tasty. Everything is served fresh and warm (except the desserts). Compared to other fast food places, the prices are a little steeper. The food is obviously not gourmet, but it's a noticeable step up from the offerings of McDonald's. They also have breakfast items, which I have yet to try. The employees were very nice and pleasant. They are especially attentive in the dining area, always kind enough to pick up trays after meals and bring extra sauces. I did have a few blunders with service a few times; wrong size drinks or meals, and wandering around the dining area with my order for long periods of time, but my experiences were mostly positive. Glad to see that this location participates in the Cell Phone Coop! Ask your cashier for a small square box, place all phones inside for the entire duration of your meal, and come back to the counter to redeem a free Icedream soft-serve ice cream cone per phone. I don't know if I want to say that their service speed is mental but they're just so fast fast here is the definition of fast food. I just come here for the #2 Spicy Chicken Sandwich with Ranch, nothing more. I think of the 50 or so times my friends and I came here, only one of the orders had a mistake in them by leaving out a sandwich. Even when we went back we got ourselves a free Sandwich on top of that. One person looked at me and just ignored me. She 100% saw me. Continued ignoring me and walked away from my car and went to help others. But not me. By this time all the people in my lane have been helped and I'm the sole car sitting there. I wait a couple mins to see if someone would come help me and said screw this and left. You got 10 people working outside and u let something like this happen? Do I have to get out of my car and ask for someone to come take my order ? I am quite sure that I have never updated a review so quickly! I did learn that on Yelp if you try to update a review the first 24 hours, they don't let you! You can only edit your previous review! So I waited a day to do this. Being that my first visit was the day before the official opening, I went back on opening day for the true customer experience. I went for breakfast and ordered the chicken egg and cheese bagle. It really was delicious. I was also given a sample of a tiny little chicken buscuit and I thought it was great too. There is something about the spice in the batter that makes it so good! Almost tasted like it had honey in it. I sat with Carol the owner and some of the staff from the headquarters. Everyone was excited about the opening. The serivice was amusingly enthusiastic! Everyone was bending over backwards, almost tripping over one another to make sure everyone was happy!!! I commented that it will be fun to see if the service will be as good in a few weeks--I was assure it will be! We will see.... I made the mistake of referring to the restaurant as "fast food" I was sternly scolded and told that it wasn't fast food it was "quick serve" and that there is nothing fast about breading all of that chicken! The owner and management of this location need to be RETRAINED AT THE CORPORATE OFFICE IN ATLANTA! But that being said, my family lives in Atlanta - the home of ChickFil-A so I'm used to a certain kind of hospitality when I go. Maybe it's because I'm from a different part of the country but I do feel like the employees aren't on the same "meme worthy" level as most CFA's in the South. Though I say this, I've really hadn't had any stand out bad customer service here; just a few minor things like messed up orders here and there. I do appreciate the weekly emails I get from the GM to reward me for my consistent patronage. The parking lot is small and there have been a few times where I've been stopped on State street trying to turn in, but have been unable to because the line is so long. It's tasty, it's fresh, it's fast. It's strangely addicting peanut oil-fried chicken. I've been here a couple times now and it's become one of my favorite guilty pleasure fast food joints in the city. The fried chicken sandwiches are always buttery and true to the original recipe. Their chicken nuggets are hearty and big. And oh my god, all fries pale in comparison to their waffle fries dipped in ketchup/Chick-fil-A sauce. It is more expensive than your local burger place's dollar menu, but for good reason. Getting specialities that differ from the usual, such as their frosted lemonade, is a nice break from a diet of double cheeseburgers and sodas. I also love that they do the cell phone challenge (putting all your phones in a box in exchange for free soft serve), especially because it's a college town where people tend to be on their phones. I normally like chick-fil-A, but do NOT go to this place on a Saturday. I have gone twice on a Saturday and both times they have totally screwed up my orders. I ordered a market salad with no blue cheese. There were only 4 cars in line I was one of the 4, yet they kept me waiting. I counted 8 cars who came way after I did, with larger orders, they received their food and drove off. While I was still waiting, I finally asked the guy what the hold up was and he asked me to pull over to the side. I refused, because I had already counted 8 cars that came after me and I felt I had waited long enough. When I finally got my order, it had blue cheese on it and I ordered a diet Dr. pepper, they gave me a diet coke. I think the worst of the employees work on a Saturday because they can't keep up during the week. It's not cheap either, I waited all that time, only to receive the order wrong, very disappointed.
