The fried chicken was delicious, juicy, & seasoned well. The taste & texture of the Mac & Cheese and Collard Greens left more to be desired. yes, I woke to a notification on my phone that my updated total for The chicken bucket Mount Holly was $85.12. My food was only $15! Someone went back in and added $70 more to my debit card, so that is theft & I don't know who did this. But this was definitely not authorized and I didn't have to sign any receipt. First things first- the wait time has got to change. Every time I go there (pre and during pandemic) the food take 25-30 minutes to come out. I've ordered ahead before and it still takes too much time. Other than that, there is no problem. The food is tasty and comes perfectly cooked. Seasoning is pretty spot on (I always add pepper anyways). The smothered pork chops I had today were great. The corn is good. Their chicken and dumplings are amazing- texture and flavor are awesome. The Chicken Bucket is a no frills, good food place with a very friendly staff. The girls at the counter are always very polite and acknowledge every person as they walk through the door. The cooks behind the counter are just as friendly and have always greeted me when I've entered the restaurant. I'm always interested in the daily specials and have not had a bad meal yet. Thumbs up to the following menu items, Flounder, Fried Chicken, Chicken Wings and Beef Tips. As far as sides go, I'm addicted to the French Fries Squash and Cole slaw. I decided to give this place a shot on 04/26. I ordered a two piece snack meal and five buffalo wings sprinkled with lemon pepper. After I paid, I was told that there would be a ten minute wait. I was off of work and had nothing better to do, so I waited. The lady at the drive thru was extremely friendly as she checked in with me. Eventually, I was given a four piece snack (at no additional cost) and the wings. I only ate one piece of the snack meal lol. The chicken in the snack meal was delicious...well seasoned, crispy, fresh, and cooked to perfection! It was like bites of heaven! Unfortunately, the hot wings were a little less than average. I love this place but the past few times I've gone for my clients, I wait 30-40 minutes for my food. I understand that they're busy but I've worked in fast food/restaurant work/ waiting before and even on our busiest days we were never as rude as the people here. They gave me the wrong order for my client so I called to notify them and was told "listen, I know I messed up we were busy. Come in and I'll give you the correct plate, I'm sorry" so my coworker went in for my clients to get it and they said they were too busy and that "we'd get what they had"- which wasn't even what the original order was anyways. Also ordered popcorn shrimp to receive jumbo shrimp. I wouldn't be mad if it weren't for my clients who wanted the food, paid for the food, then got the incorrect food along with poor customer service. In this small town of Mount holly, NC is a Gem. The fact that it is home style cooked food served fast in a drive through is absolutely every food lovers dream. I became obsessed with the gizzards and now have tried at least half the menu. Main dishes are not even $10 which also comes with 2 sides and piece of bread. If you are passing through town or a resident that has not tried chicken bucket you are truly missing out. The portions are generous for the price and all the food leaves my mouth watering for more. It's called chicken bucket but chicken is the farthest thing on my mind from here. Try all the specials you will not be disappointed. My top favorites are the gizzards and smothered pork chops but I do have more dishes to try! You can call and pre order so you are not waiting there for 10 mins because sometimes it's busy and even though it is a drive through you can tell food is freshly made. My family and I used to love Chicken Bucket. But the past couple times we have been we have had stuff missing in our order or our order has been messed up completely. I'm not sure what is going on with them. They mess up your order or forget items in your order every time. Today I called in an order of 4 meals. One was beef liver, 2 were burgers, and one was a philly. 1st of all the prices and description of menu items on their website is way off. The prices online are about 80 cent cheaper for each item than in the restaurant. 2nd they seem to be very overwhelmed anytime I call and I feel rushed to make my order. Most of the time I can hear the person taking my order talking to others while on the phone with me(maybe that is why they get stuff wrong). So I get to the resturant today and I go to pay and the owner ask what I ordered I tell her and she says you ordered beef tips? I say no it's beef liver. I told her the girl taking my order repeatedly said beef liver on the phone so I don't understand how it's wrong? She said well your order is ready if you want to just take it. I say no my husband doesn't want beef tips he wants beef liver. She kept insisting I take the tips. I say no one last time she seems frustrated and tells to the cook in something in Spanish and turns around to tell me I have to wait and they will cook it. I say thats fine. I sit for another 15 mins and wait while my other food is getting cold and they don't even ask if I want it remade! We have fries in the other 3 orders. Cold fries are nasty. She then takes the box with beef tips and throws it out! Why?? Why not just leave it and say it was our fault and that is on us. Just let us keep it. I didn't say anything. I thought maybe she will offer me a drink, discount, or dessert for making me wait and since this was no fault of mine. Nope. I even grab 2 straws for the 2 drinks I have because I didn't see the straws in my bag, she grabs the straws out of my bag and says no no 2 straws. For real??? Now straws are gold I guess. I get to the car and look at the other orders. Only to find 2 out of 3 are wrong. 1 burger was missing tomato and mayo while my philly had lettuce and tomato added. Online it does not say tomato and lettuce are added. I just threw my tomato on the burger and drove home. I was so annoyed I didn't even bother going in. I was really excited about eating at the chicken bucket. We had a large order so we called it in for pick up. I got the Crispy Chicken Sandwich with fries. The chicken had absolutely no flavoring to it whatsoever. One of my friends got the boneless wings with chili sauce, which she said were very tasty. Two of my other friends got a chicken snack bucket with mashed potatoes, corn, fried okra and rolls. I also ordered a slice of tiramisu cake an an apple pie. Once again the chicken had no flavor and the fried okra had no seasoning at all. The corn and mashed potatoes were mediocre at best. The rolls were great. We didn't receive the tiramisu cake and the apple pie was completely raw in the middle. I'm giving Chicken Bucket 3 stars because they did remember our sauces, (which many places don't) and the customer service was excellent. On another note, they do have a drive-thru which was absolutely packed and as far as the parking lot goes, it is extremely tiny and only has about 4 parking spots. I'd try this place again considering the menu is filled with other items besides chicken because I believe in second chances. read more
