Returned to Floyd's & Blackie's this year ( again with a large party of 14) but had a totally different and satisfying experience this time. Overall service was very good; our server was pleasant, attentive and patient throughout our stay. Our party mostly ordered the various burger options ( all were juicy and served with mayo ) served with either fries or a side salad and I'd recommend the Hangover Burger myself. The spicy chicken sandwich was another good option for chicken lovers. Again we passed on the pastries but the ice cream was very good. I again witnessed the tale of two restaurants as the primary business and labor focus appears to be on the ice cream, baked goods and pastries side which did impact the in dining side service of the business. Could just have been a staffing issue but something to be aware of when considering table service. Overall restaurant offered friendly service and good food that's reasonably priced. read more

My wife wanted some brownies today. So we looked around and found this place. It a hidden gem in outskirts of gastonia and belmont. We got a couple of brownie bars and a pumpkin spiced cupcake. Everything was great brownie was moist. Definitely will be back to try some of the food. It's a little out the way but definitely worth the trek. read more

We stopped in after walking and playing in the park. The ice cream was very good. There was a smaller selection than before. The service was slow and somewhat ambivalent to "customer" or "service". The location gives this shop a great opportunity to be part of the destination but it appears they have overlooked that benefit. Hot day and the A/C was struggling, no paper towels in the ladies room and an uninterested attitude to remedy the paper towel issue. Good ice cream, mediocre experience. read more

Floyd and Blackies is truly a tale of two restaurants. Their pre-ordered baked goods are absolutely exceptional - easily 5-star quality with incredible flavor and freshness that would make any occasion special!!! I highly recommend ordering in advance whatever baked goods you want and you will be so happy! Unfortunately, my recent dinner experience revealed a completely different side to this establishment. My cheeseburger was overcooked, bland, dried out, and the bun was falling apart, so I don't think that it was fresh bread. While my wife's chicken tacos were tender and a little more flavorful, they still were not great. The contrast between their bakery expertise and dinner offerings couldn't be more stark. Our server was friendly enough, though somewhat inefficient. The outdoor patio provided a lovely setting, which was perhaps the highlight of our dinner experience! Even the display case baked goods were disappointing - dried out and unappetizing compared to their custom-order counterparts. Bottom line: Skip the restaurant service entirely and stick to pre-ordering their magnificent baked goods, which truly showcase what this place is capable of when focusing on their strengths.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ To those about to nosh, I hope it's on their pre-ordered baked goods! Food is always delicious! The wait is atrocious and if the right people aren't waiting on you, it's disastrous. Coffee, ice cream, and other goodies are always good. This place has gone through some changes, but staff is necessary in a restaurant this size. Maturity in the staff is an essential, as well. Side note...There should never be a young person talking negatively about previous owner, which occurred about a month ago (shockingly!) A word to the wise, explaining to the young man he was not walking in their shoes and judgement should be resisted! We're new to the area, but F&B's has been a staple to our family since we moved here. I'd hate to see this place continue in this trajectory. read more

In town for a ball tournament. My granddaughter and I decided to do some exploring and ran across this coffee shop. Nice setup with coffee/ice cream shop in the front and an area in the back for private parties. We ordered a Berry Blast Smoothie and a regular coffee with caramel flavoring and cream. Both were very good. The young girls at the counter were very helpful since this was the first time visiting. There is generous seating inside as well as a deck with seating on the outside. Across the street is Goat Island Park and Causeway. We will definitely be back if in the area again. read more

Overall a decent experience! The lemon bar and cake pop were good, but the Oreo cheesecake did not taste like cheesecake. The cheesecake tasted doughy, like a bland cheesecake covered in whip cream. The restaurant was clean with clean restrooms, but the hand soap had water added to it which is nasty considering you need proper antibacterial soap when dealing with food and just regular life. Food was delish. We each enjoyed a hot beverage and sat inside for a bit, then meandered to the outdoor seating with an awesome view. There were even cushions on the outdoor chairs. The location is perfect for families as there's a unique playground across the bridge and one can put in or take out tubes and water craft very close by. Lots of parking. I searched for an ice cream shop while in the area and Floyd and Blackie's came up. It's a cute place near Goat Island in Cramerton. It was a bit busy when we visited with several people in line waiting to order. Besides ice cream, they offered homemade desserts such as huge cake slices, brownies, cookies and dessert bars. They also had coffee drinks and smoothies. It took quite awhile to order even though there were about 5 people in front of us. The ordering process was not organized and they kept getting interrupted when we were ordering so they would forget what we ordered and would ask what we wanted again and again. They also would enter our order wrong or simply ignore our request such as we asked for water and never got it. The ice cream was fine and the pumpkin bar was delicious. First time having lunch/breakfast here. Food is excellent! Husband had eggs over medium (done perfectly), fired potatoes, sausage, and toast. He loved it! I had the BLT with side salad. My meal was cold and incorrect. Could not even chew the meet from sandwich it was so tough. I had to ask for the cheese that was missing and they brought American rather than the provolone. We spent the morning on New Years Day looking for a nice brunch restaurant. We attempted to eat at our usual spots in Gastonia, but couldn't get in with the crowds. So we did some googling and found Floyd & Blackie's in Cramerton. Real nice folks who are very proud of their slogan - All food prepared here is made with love. I do find it odd that there are menu items such as steak frites, surf and turf, and other high priced meals when you are, more or less, eating in an ice cream shop. What a fun find in Cramerton as we were on a mission to find an open ice cream shop on a Monday evening. I can only speak to their ice cream (Hershey's brand) and the delicious milkshake I had, but I certainly want to come back to try their massive cake slices and tasty coffee concoctions. I had the cappuccino crunch as a milkshake and there was the option for an "additional scoop" or whipped cream on top. I loved having this option, but went for the traditional whipped on top. The milkshake was everything you want a milkshake to be - think yet drinkable, cold and creamy. Even writing about it now makes me want to go back for another one. They had about 12 flavors of hard ice cream to choose from - something for everyone! This place is a hybrid pastry, coffee, ice cream shop that also rents kayaks. So it really is a one-stop shop in the area. There also ample seating outside, or you can always take your ice cream or coffee for a stroll down the quaint street. read more

Second time -- today ( 2-25-24) . Got breakfast sandwich wanted to get hash instead of fries -- no substitution..???? That's ok the fries were really good but couldn't understand the logic . Service was great , cause the poor young girl was running the whole place ( food) by herself ( bless ) -- I'm sure she was wore out . But three people in the coffee / ice cream area , and that's where they stayed . Wiping the bar , talking and serving. Not saying they were not doing their job , but hey that girl needs some help .
