The spicy chicken was good, so it's hard to give them a 1, but the original recipe has about as much flavor as a glass of water. For a modest upcharge, I ordered the 44oz sprite to go along with it. When I say they filled the cup TO THE BRIM with ice, I mean it was overflowing. I looked on with concern as she was filling it with sprite, and when I took the first few sips, my worst fears were confirmed. From 44oz to empty in 4 sips -- I am not kidding ya'll. After a day at the pool and just wanting a tall glass of sprite and some good chicken, I gotta say I was left disappointed, especially for the price. I give up!! My wife and I tried to eat at the Lewisville/Highland Village Chicken Express tonight. We arrived at 8pm, a full hour before closing time to find all of the doors locked. The location was staffed yet no one even acknowledged we tried to open the doors. We had quit going to this location due to the drop in customer service as well as the quality of the food. Customer service! I've had bad experience each time with the employees here. They close the inside at 8 by the way however on the door they say they are open until 9. So are we so lazy that we close 30 minutes before actual close. I work in retail and never close until the exact closing. As usual always bad service and rude as ever. Good job management! read more

Everything about the place seems very poorly run and I agree with other comments that it almost seems like they're deliberately trying to get shut down. The guy behind the counter, the big guy with the red beard is rude as hell. He walked up to the register all grumpy. We ordered an 8 piece mixed and he said they didn't have any white meat cooked up. When I got home, the chicken was soggy and no crispy chicken and tasted like it was cooked in stale grease. Visited there on Fathers Day amidst a crowd of generally patient people less one or two women who were yelling at the staff. God bless entitlements! Terry, the manager, in a most diplomatic way told the one lady that he would not tolerate anyone yelling at his staff. She continued with the yelling and threats. My food was fine. It certainly was fresh because the staff was cooking it as quickly as they could. It was fine--crispy, tasty. The mac and cheese was good; the rolls were warm. It's Chicken Express for crying out loud not The Ritz. And belittling the staff was totally uncalled for. Please don't share your poor behavior with the rest of us. The chicken is okay, not something to write home about. Took this store forever to open up the lobby, and while it was closed the service and quality control in the drive-through was sorely lacking. We haven't eaten chicken express in years and now I remember why. We ordered 2 dinners, 1 catfish and the other chicken. My mashed potatoes came with about a Tbsp of gravy on top and they forgot our rolls. My husband didn't check the boxes before leaving but I always do anytime I go anywhere. Where do I start? Probably with the fact that my order was placed at 7:43pm and I didn't leave till almost 8:20pm without any food. I was told during my original ordering that it would be 15 mins for my meal. Okay no big deal my daughter who is 5 was in the car with me waiting, and waiting and waiting. To the point that I had physically called the store inside (because they had already locked the doors for the dining room) to ask for my money back to which who ever was on the phone with me hung up on me. Went to this location on SUNDAY EVENING at 6:10pm. A busy time for any food outlet on a SUNDAY. I tried to order a simple 4 piece tender meal with an extra gravy. I have ordered here almost 10 years so what happened next has NEVER happened. The young girl told me they were out of tenders unless I wanted to wait about 10 minutes. I asked how long would I have to wait for livers - 5 minutes. I settled for my order of lives and named my sides, and twice told this young girl I wanted an extra gravy! When I got around to the window I asked the girl why they were out of their mainstay TENDERS on a Sunday night at dinner time? Her answer was we have been really busy. *When I drove in, there was no vehicles in the parking lot, and no one in line. When I went around the building there was ONE vehicle waiting and I was told to wait behind them. They got a small sack about 2 minutes later and drove off. About 7 minutes later the little girl brought out 1 box (no sack) so I asked if my extra small gravy was inside? She looked at the ticket and said no - did you want extra? I told her I told you twice I wanted an extra small gravy. She asked if I wanted to pay for it? I said I dont want a pint just a small container! I said ok how much? She didn't know and asked someone inside. It was $1.40 so I gave her $2 and she left. The next person I saw wa a large young lady - not the one who waited on me! She handed me my change and a sack. I told her I was very upset and I wanted to talk to the Manager. When I asked for a name so I didn't talk to some worker claiming to be the Manager. She said corporate policy was they can't give out any information. I said then you are refusing me just the name of the Manager and again she said its corporate policy. I asked her how I was supposed to complain without a name? She just said sorry. I told her I would call the corporate offices to complain and she just lost a long time customer! I actually like Chicken Express a lot... I always get it with my family and whenever we are craving fried chicken we always think to go here. However, after tonight I think I won't be visiting again. We ordered the chicken strips (which are my favorite) and what I got was less than any chicken strip I've ever gotten. What I got was disgustingly dry and brittle pieces of breaded and fried dough. It's disappointing when you pay for 7 chicken strips and what you get is barely even chicken but what seems to have been the leftover broken dry pieces that shouldn't be served. I understand that it is difficult to keep up with orders and have staff, as I was completely fine with the wait. I guess what I'm saying is I'm more upset that I waited for something that was not even remotely as good as it usually is. Maybe don't go here after 6PM. read more

Very disappointing! Though it's Saturday after the Governor let restaurants open up to 50% seating and most (nearby) full-service restaurants are open (and have been open), with inside seating, Chicken Express is not. We preferred to eat inside, especially here, as frequently they make errors in our order... which is hard to fix, after you get home. Add to that, when I called their phone number (on my receipt), the first time it rang to the point that disconnected (12+ rings) / nobody answering... however the second time somebody did answer (I shared the following, they seemed unconcerned). Today, our roll came out completely smashed flat, the gravy was only half full... which, when you order four pieces of chicken and four livers, that is simply is not adequate. The livers were so hot, they nearly could not be eaten (a good thing!)... while, as is typical, the chicken was barely warm. The temperature of the chicken cannot be attributed to the drive home, as we ate at the picnic table, out in front of the store. Hopefully somebody in management, or maybe the owners read this, and thinks about making a change. If they do, we certainly would eat there more often and maybe so would others. read more
