I just went through the drive through at Chicken Express here in Lufkin. I had ordered a number 1 which is a 4 pc tender with gravy or sauce and biscuit or a roll. I ordered gravy and a biscuit to go with it. The biscuit was so old you couldn't even eat it. It was like it was a warmed up biscuit from days ago. The chicken was fried so hard you could hardly chew it and the meat was extremly dry from either fried too hard to cooked previously and dropped in the fryer again. At the price they charge for a meal I will go to Popeyes or Church's. I will never go through that again. read more

Consistently sour and inattentive staff. I ordered my family meal and an extra 2 fish filets. The untrained person "greeted" me and took the order. Of course, she got it wrong the first time. I had to correct her. After I placed my order, I asked for a small generic cup for water. She told me she would charge me for the cup price of a drink. Great customer service. Next time, if ever, I'll bring my own cup and just take whatever I want. BTW, the two fish filet sides for $8.29 ...thin, overcooked, no tarter sauce. You, the manager and your staff pretty much suck. There are plenty of other choices in Lufkin for fried chicken. Yours is permanently off my list. Essentially everything was less than desirable. Dry chicken, greasy pork portion, sizes, and horribly unhappy staff.

Had to return the 2 chicken breast because they were burnt, hard, dry and nasty tasting. Then as we just set down after getting the a chicken replaced with what was not much better. They began mopping the floor around the tables with hot pine oil and water. We had to leave because at that point the food even tasted like hot pine oil. For a person with allergies to pine oil they seemed to not really care at all that it had ruined this visit for a customer. This turned into a bad experience very fast. If this is the way that the chicken is cooked and severed now then I suggest that everyone go somewhere else especially if you plan on eating in. This turned into one of the worst experiences ever. This place was once a good place to eat moist good portions of fried chicken and sit down and relax while doing it. I would not suggest it now. Hopefully this was just a bad day for the employees and restaurant but I doubt it. But one thing for sure I will not be returning to this restaurant I will go to Church's, KFC or even Popeyes.At least the 2pc order came with a 32 oz drink to wash down the nastiness.. It looks like corporate headquarters's needs to make several anonymous orders at random times and dates and such to see what is happening the quality of food, restaurant and staff. This place is the worst. Toilet in men's room is broken, won't flush. My granddaughter says the girls was hideous. It was too. Old to eat inside and water dripping from the ac vents was standing in one bench. I ordered a 3 piece dark meal and got two extremely dry white meat pieces, also had to go back and wait for my side that didn't come with my meal. I ordered a biscuit and got a roll. My wife did not get her hushpuppies either. Sitting outside a lady drove up with her order and she didn't get her okra. This is the worst place I have seen in a long while. Its 11am and Chicken Express tried to sell me old chicken that was brown and dried out. I fly in to Texas from Las Vegas to visit my family once every two months and I enjoy the chicken. This is my first time (and definitely the last time) I get food from this joint. I got a family meal, 8 piece for 18 dollar with tax which ended up in the trash can. Never have I ever had anything in my life wit this much salt. Don't get me wrong. I season my food with salt, sometimes add a bit extra but this was to the extent that nobody could eat it. We even tried removing the fried part to ear the meat but that one was also salty. Horrible experience and a total waste of money. read more

Chicken Express has really good chicken strips. I typically order them in large quantities when feeding multiple people. They are always a hit. Their biscuits are delicious. Their sides seem to always be fresh too. it is rare for me to dine-in at this establishment but as far as picking things up to-go, I have been very pleased. Also, on a couple of occasions, they have delivered for me when I have really large orders but I think it was a courtesy and not a part of their normal operations. We were there at 12:30 .It was busy but not overly so. The clerk was very polite and knowledgeable.Our food was brought promptly. I ordered the number 1. My sister ordered fish pickles and poppers I had French Fries with mine. My chicken was barely warm . The same with the Gravy. We each ordered a biscuit. One was delicious. The other was obviously yesterday's,as was the chicken I suspect. We have eaten in Beaumont Livingston and Conroe and never had a problem. As I was leaving I took note they had several pans of chicke fried up and not that many customers. I feel that what we paid was totally wasted and would never eat there again. Their help needs more training on cooking in batches and not cooking so much it is served cold. read more

We have been to the Chicken Express in Livingston and it is good. This place is not. The chicken is not cooked to order. They had loads of chicken lined up in the back they had cooked ahead of time. This is not the way to turn out good product. I almost walked out, but my wife wanted to stay. You get product that has been sitting under heat lamps. Chicken is therefore greasy and gross. You know that taste chicken gets when it sits around. It looks bad and tastes bad. The mashed potatoes are, of course, instant, and the béchamel sauce is a lumpy, greasy mess...it is not homogenized. Coleslaw is good. I got a biscuit and it was inedible. I almost never throw any food away. I dumped half of this and will never be back. Disgusting. read more

Just stopped at the Lufkin location since we are officially out of the mask mandate. I have been visiting Chicken Express locations for more than ten years, this is the absolute hands down worst of them all. I ordered a four piece tenders and a two piece snack pack along with an additional side of okra. The tenders were so small my little finger is actually bigger than each of them. The "8 piece corn nuggets" side item only had six pieces in each order despite having watched them come straight out of the fryer. Not only was the exterior not clean but what I could see of the interior was not clean either. Clearly there is a distinct lack of management at this location. I will make it a point not to return here. They certainly do not follow the precedence set by other locations I have visited all over the state. read more
