Chicken Express isn't that cost friendly but I've eaten there a couple of times when I've been in the Magnolia area and wanted some fish. First time, I ordered there. Had to wait about 10 minutes but it was good and fresh. Tasted like southern catfish and I ordered combo with 3 filets, fries, okra and hush puppies. That was mid-April. Come mid-August, I stopped again and ordered 2 fish with fries and drink. This time I ordered ahead to reduce my wait. I get to the window and this annoying lady with bright red lipstick asks me to pay, super aggressive standing ten toes down I didn't pay. Even condescending telling me the POS it at the window and not back there (pointing towards the order speaker). Like girl what?!?! She says ima get my manager. Only to come back to the window just handing me my food. No cause where is your apology or even acknowledgement that you were loud and WRONG. I questioned her about it and purposely started driving away mid-answer. To make the experience even worse, the fish was overcooked and dry. Tasted nothing like Apr, I wasn't sure what kinda fish it even was. Fries were good but they gave me a roll instead of hush puppies!!! They have fried chicken and tenders. I ordered chicken tenders and mash potatoes with gravy. Hubby ordered 2 piece chicken meal. (2 huge chicken breast and corn on the cob) The tenders were good-not greasy. The batter was crunchy and really good. The potatoes w/gravy were the standard at all chicken places. Good but nothing special. The gravy was actually really good. Not watered down, thick and tasty. Hubby really enjoyed his meal too. The chicken breast were large and had a great flavor. Crunchy batter. (same as tenders) The chicken itself was moist and tasty. The corn on the cob was good as well. My hubby's favorite thing was the spicy salt they have to put on the chicken. It was something different and tasty. (I don't know-I did not try it) A little dip in the spicy salt then a dip in hot sauce is just the was he likes it! Overall, we both enjoyed our meals. I used to love chicken express's food it was amazing.... So amazing that I decided to work there at one point lol over the years my excitement faded but I still enjoyed the occasional meal after I left. The service was usually pretty good but could sometimes be better. And of course after the remodel the ambiance balanced out nicely. But as of recently as much as I love or miss the food I refuse to go back due to pricing... I get that prices are jacking up everywhere but I'm not paying almost $18-$20 for a single fast food meal. Terrible service, this place has gone downhill. I paid $60 yesterday for a family meal of 25 tenders with two sides and six breads (two biscuits, two rolls,) waited almost 20 minutes in the drive-through, because they said they had to make the pickles that I ordered as a side, eventually brought out food that apparently belong to the person in front of me in line, meaning they had taken my food already and driven off. I told the person who brought my order out what must've happened, they said they would have to go remake it, five minutes later I guess the manager came out and asked if that was my order I told him no that's not my order. I had the 25 piece tenders that was given to the person in front of me... He said OK sorry will have to remake it. So finally got my food 38 minutes after I got in line at chicken express, 34 minutes after I placed my order, per the time on the receipt. Got home- tenders were Luke warm, barely had a regular size side of fried pickles (paid for family side), biscuits were flat and dry (my daughter thought it was a cookie,) & it looked like someone took a bite out of a roll. Called the next day to discuss with the manager, was the same manager who had come out and spoke to me the day before, he went and talked to his GM and they said I could come back up there and they would replace the rolls and biscuits, but not the whole meal unless we brought it all back up there . What can I say? I was visiting and ate here TWICE in one week! The Texas Sweet Tea is JUST that... super sweet. So refreshing on a 90+ degree ultra humid day. And .92 cents for a 32oz anytime of day?? Heck yea! The tenders were PIPPING HOT each trip and I came late afternoon and lunch time. Gravy was on point, not watered down. Fried okra lacked some flavor but was nice and crispy and hot. The TENDERS WERE THE BOMB. Crispy, fresh from The fryer hot. And juicy. The roll was just a package variety ... I was hoping more for a home made yeast roll. But eh... most places have these packaged ones or super dry biscuits anyway ... which is an option that I didn't opt for, for that reason ... but if you prefer buscuits, by all means do so. All in all, a quick trip thru the drive thru for a hot lunch on the go with fresh food, this is the place! I have eaten Bone-in chicken at other locations, not this one but I love Chicken Express bone-in chicken as well ... it's huge pieces, especially the breasts, no half breasts like at churches or KFC. This is my favorite fried chicken place ever. I used to like Popeyes (especially their biscuits) but their food started messing with my stomach after I would eat there. Chicken Express has never done that to me and I'm bummed right now because they're closed for renovations but I anxiously await them reopening. My family and I all agree this is our favorite chicken place and have really missed it these past weeks it's been closed. Favorite order is the 2 piece, breast and a leg, mashed potatoes and gravy and a roll and I HAVE to have their sweet tea #addicted. 10/10 would recommend. P.S. The food is okay... I would recommend asking that everything be made fresh otherwise you'll be getting food that's been sitting there. The service is always subpar and never anything to brag home about. No matter what you order your food will take a minimum of 15 minutes to arrive. The spicy tenders are a hit or a miss. You'll also be lucky if you receive everything you ordered. Word to the wise always check your bag before leaving this place. As far as sides go I would only get the fried options or coleslaw as long as it's within the date. As the corn is cooked in water, the mashed potatoes are instant, green beans come out of a can with no seasonings. The prices do not reflect the quality of food you receive in the slightest. It's honestly price gouging at its finest. The bathrooms are always dirty as well as the dinning room. Just know your shoes will be sticking to the floor. read more

The sweet Tea is BOMB, chicken is crispy and juicy, and the rolls and hush puppies are truly addicting.... seriously you will need rehab after trying one of their rolls or hush puppies, they are that phenomenal!
