We normally go through the drive thru and I always get the juicy yummy chicken tenders with the gravy and a biscuit. Hubby loves the gizzards from there as well so he will get a large order. Never been disappointed but always check your bag before you drive off especially if you ask for sauces. Sometimes they forget. Overall, taste is great. Chicken Express is my chicken sanctuary, my holy grail of spicy goodness! Every visit feels like a pilgrimage to chicken paradise. Their chicken tenders are nothing short of perfection - always fresh, crispy, and hot enough to scorch my lap on the ride home (in the best way possible!). The fries are probably average but there is something about dipping them into the gravy that keeps me coming back for more. The spicy tenders are my go to, but if you're like me and crave an extra punch, ask for the serendipity hot seasoning packets. They'll take your taste buds on a wild ride! Their rolls are nice and buttery with a little sweetness which balances the heat nicely. I can probably eat four of these bad boys but I impose self-control. Stole my money. I ordered on https://chickene.com for pickup at 691 S Walnut Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130, picked up order, order incomplete. Manager says they can't refund the missing food because it was a Doordash order, which it wasn't; it was an order on the Chicken Express website. Doordash has no record of the order, but Chicken Express does. Bottom line: Chicken Express incompletely fills direct orders on their website, hides behibd a third party and won't refund your money. I saw the staff and I thought oh great, younger adults who always have their rude, arrogant attitudes and don't care. I was sooo wrong and definitely judged a book by its cover. Stopped by here on 6/17/19 on my way to Dallas. Logan took our order and he was very friendly and provided great customer service. The place is also very very clean. After we left with our food, I was disappointed because my food was cold and I asked for a roll and instead had cold hush puppies. So we turned around and brought the food back. Logan apologized and Josh confirmed my new box was hot and correct. He was right, the tenders were piping hot and delicious. Therefore a 1 star review turned into a 5 star. Needed a quick meal to go and stopped thru, customer service on point but took longer than expected. However, the food came out piping hot, actually too hot to eat... So definitely cooked to order. I ordered a 4 strip combo. Chicken strips were nice and crispy with good seasonings. The breading on the pickles were quite thick but it was flavorful. Biscuit is homemade, too bad they don't carry jelly or jam. Sweet tea had just the right amount of sugar and crushed ice, my favorite. Overall, I'd prefer this place over some of their competitors and they have a pretty big selection. read more

I lived by the chicken express out on 46 and it was always fresh and tasty. I have given the one on walnut 2 chances now and there won't be a third. The chicken was dry and you could tell it had been sitting way to long. The Mac and the green beans had no seasons at all and the roll you could have used as a baseball! I came through tonight a decent 30 minutes before closing and waited over 10 minutes to be greeted at the drive through. When I was greeted the girl who took my order seem uninterested in taking my order and couldnt swap a roll for extra fries. I understood that and moved on. When I got to the window the girl brought me my food and the food was good but I hadn't notice until I drove of that they forgot my gravy. When I had pulled up to ask for ranch the girls just looked at me like I was weird or like I was going ask for their number. Ive had this experience with their customer service a few times now. Once one of the girls even asked me why I was still there before I had even gotten the food. Food is good shop is clean, but the service need serious work. It's better than most chain fried chicken restaurant. Chicken is moist and well seasoned, and the sides are good! My husband who is a chicken tender connoisseur () approves their tenders which says a lot, I got to say. My favorite sides are their fried okra, mashed potatoes, and Cole slaw. They're serving size is big, I want to say it's quite too much for me; but hey! at least you get the bang for your buck. I've waited 2 weeks to post this review. We visited the restaurant 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Each time, we could not get through he front door without smelling a very foul odor. Not sure if it is coming from the bathroom but it sure smells like it. There are 4 chicken restaurants (one on each corner) of I-35 and Walnut. I would highly recommend visiting one of the other restaurants until they get rid of the smell in the dining room. That being said, other chicken express locations are great. The chicken strips are awesome and the gravy is on point. We love the corn fritters and sweet tea. Management: please investigate the source of the odor and correct it. I am sure that we'll give you high marks for food quality and value once your dining area smells better. read more

Pretty cool place to get fried livers and yeah catfish. They always make the livers to order, which makes them crispy, juicy, and delicious. I love the white gravy that comes with them, but I also like ketchup with livers. This location is right by Rudy's BBQ. A side note: For a fast food restaurant, this building is designed extremly well with nice tiled walls and floor, including the restrooms. read more

We got chicken tonight at the store on S Walnut. Got home and had fish and 8 pieces of chicken instead of the 16 pieces of chicken, we had ordered. We were asked to bring it back. They did exchange our order. But didn't seem happy about it. Not good customer service! The chicken was rubbery and the Mac and cheese, well let's just say my 6 year autistic grand child could have done better. It was real watery and no taste. This use to be our go to chicken place. from a military family this is our experience with chicken express. Let me tell you that chicken express is extremely delicious and good chicken at most locations but at this one it was not very pleasant. the girl asked me if i wanted my food hot as if it was a joke, secondly my chicken wasn't cooked and the ones that were cooked were dumped with spicy powder because she kept pushing me into trying the spicy tenders. I had a procedure the day of and wasn't able to contact them so I did so the very next day and I want this to be noted for this location as being a military family we were hung up on she questioned me as I was lying to her and then over and over said she could not find it. she then the owners were there and could give me there email but if the owners were there why could they not talk? hmmm customer service at its finest. oh and her NAME WAS GLORIA. and after she was done helping i was hung up on twice. So to any law enforcement/military's families or all families that read this I understand there food is good but strongly urge you to go to a different location. read more
