My fav drive thru fast food chicken place because it's oooooohhhhhhhh so good. First things first, the rolls here are EXCELLENT. Warm, sweat, soft, yaaassssss. Everything you want in a piece of bread with all of the guilt that goes with it. Is it a splurge, yes but it's delicious and exceeds any other drive thru restaurant. Now onto the chicken. SEASONED SEASONED SEASONED, especially the wings! If you like well flavored, crispy hot wings that aren't sauced this is definitely a treat. After a hard day of work when I don't feel like eating a healthy meal, and I want to be Lay-Z in front of the TV in my pj's with no judgement Chicken Express is ALWAYS there for me! Fantastic experience just in the drive thru! Waited a few extra min for our wings and the guy (I think a mngr, wish I had his name) brought it out and had put several sauces in there w/ o me even asking. I had forgotten to order some so this was very helpful. Then he got me a refill on my drink and told me to try the honey mustard w/ the hot wings. Thanks for the tip! I usually enjoy coming to this chicken express. This time i did not, and it is likely to be my last visit at this location. Went in at 4:30pm to order my usual: the #1 combo, spicy, with fries. While the order itself was accurate when I received it, the following reasons are why I'm unhappy: 1) the chicken tasted old, when there was chicken in my tenders 2) 3 out of 5 tenders were as thin as Burger King chicken fries, and they hardly had any meat in them. Generally I'm satisfied if only 1 out of 5 is like this. I understand sometimes I won't get great pieces, but this visit's tenders were really bottom of the barrel 3) the fries were stale and tasteless. While chicken express won't win any awards from me on a normal day for their French fries, these were borderline disgusting. Luckily the roll and the gravy were still good, so that's how you earned your first star. If you're the manager here: please teach your employees the importance of consistency. Today you lost a long time customer for at least a while. I'll be visiting the spring creek & ave K location from now on, assuming their reviews are ok. read more

Mashed potatoes were runny and gravy (usually the best) had watery texture - far from being creamy ... We also had to repeat our order to the cashier twice, as she was not listening to us, then had to go back in the line twice due to mistakes. Second visit in 2 months again with a coupon. $4.99 for a combo #1 is a very good coupon bargain. Very generous and they added an extra piece of chicken or two but don't tell anybody. And the corn nuggets taste very very good. Very popular with the dine in and drive through crowd on a Saturday December 2014. I posted a photo of the #1 combo. Ive always been a fan of CE. This particular location always has excellent service. Chicken strips are crispy, the tea is a legend on its own, and I love their jalapeño poppers. Make sure to get the Serendipity seasoning. It makes the food spicy. read more

Pretty much addicted to this place. If we get really fat this year, it's probably because we get this at least once a week. It's a bad habit to break. Chicken is so good. I alway ask for dark meat because I don't really like how some of the white meat is a not as juicy as the dark. But that's just our family. The cheese fries here are melting and kind of taste like chicken, interesting spin. Fried pickles are good, the corn fritters are good. There is not to much on this menu my family does not love. Don't forget to get a gallon of sweet tea to take home. My only complaint is not really Chicken Express's fault. I really get tired of the people who order all the chicken right before I pull up and I have to wait a little bit while they make some more. But hey, I am sure Chicken Express does not mind you buying all their chicken. So, sometimes the wait can be longer than you expect if some greedy person before you pulls up and orders for like 3 families. Just not nice, but they have to eat too, I guess! Picked up dinner last night. Tenders were good (they always are) but the rest of the food wasn't. The fries were cold and tasted like they were leftover from lunch (same thing with the biscuit). GOING DOWNHILL. This used to be an amazing location. Just a few years ago it was a high quality visit every time. I don't know if there is a new owner of this location but the place is going downhill. Food was a step above room temperature, so little attention to food holding temps and safety is being given. Lights are out, bathrooms are dirty, tea dispensers run dry and the soda nozzles are filthy. Employees never greet you or say thank you. These are constants on more than one visit. It makes me very sad that this location has such little effort being put into it because I love Chicken Express and have seen 2 other locations I used to visit in Plano and Frisco close up because the owner did not care. This has been my favorite fast food fried chicken place/location until the last 2 -3 visits. The last being tonight. Tonight the fried okra was under fried and chewy....as was the last time. The past 2 visits the livers and gizzards were WAY over fried....and leathery. The chicken strips were like they had been sitting under a warming light for hours. My favorite drive-thru chicken place because their food is always on point! LOVE their fried chicken, chicken wings, and ESPECIALLY their fried gizzards! Oh, and don't get me started on their rolls! Don't get to come here TOO often because if I did I'd be extremely overweight. Lol. But when I DO get to splurge, I go straight to the fried gizzards. Great addition to the neighborhood. Service and quality are great. My really love Chicken Express because their employees seem to always be so friendly and so above and beyond. Often items are not included that you order and pay for or the food has been sitting and the staff has given me food that's been sitting when I asked for it to be made fresh. When I have brought this to the attention of management their is a real lack for concern or improvement. While I generally like Chicken E over the competition, the inconsistency of the location leaves me looking for a better place to go. read more

Always someone rude working the drive-thru. Employees don't respond when you say "thank you" and if you ask for something, they respond by getting it but in total silence. The owner needs to read some of these reviews because there appears to be some consistency in complaints. I am not excited about coming here and have changed my mind several times to something else because of the attitudes received. read more

I've never not had to wait at least 15 minutes to get my food nor do they ever understand what I ordered the first time so it's always just me repeating myself numerous times, but that's after I have to wait at the menu screen for 2+ minutes before anybody acknowledges I'm there. Worst experience in a fast food restaurant ever. As it was my turn the female staff's face looked like I just killed her whole family (or maybe someone did). After I ordered the no.3 meal she knew I am not a native speaker. Then she spoke very quickly so I couldn't follow her. Since it was my first time to Chicken Express I asked the details of the side orders. She looked very impatient and just went STRAIGHT away. After that another male staff helped me finish the order. As I was sitting there to wait for my food, the female staff came and threw my food onto the table. And it was packed while I said clearly it's FOR HERE. Anyway if there is 0.5 star I will give 0.5 to the food, 0.5 to the male staff and -0.5 to this impolite woman. She ruined my dinner! read more

Once again I just left Chicken Express, this time the store on Preston Rd., Frisco, TX. I make what appears to me to be a clear order, I get to the window and I ask the clerk at the window point blank as he is handing me the bag, "Is this everything?" He doesn't look, he just says yes it's all there. I pull forward, open the bag, check the order, and something I've paid for is indeed missing. I go back to the order speaker and have to repeat three times why I'm coming through the line again. So I have to wait in line AGAIN to I get to the window and have to explain AGAIN why I'm THERE. They take my ticket and I finally get my item and a half hearted Sorry. This time is better than most times because so many times before I've believed the person at the window and just drive home to find something missing. This has repeated multiple times at this store, the one on Custer Rd I in Allen, TX, and the one on Main St in The Colony, TX. I've called the store itself, had to go back for the missing item or items, and it's always the same lame thank with never an offer to compensate. Since the corporate web site offers no 800 number to call or email contact for customer complaints I've chosen to leave this review in the hope the home office in Mineral Wells, TX, will take notice and better train their staff in customer service. read more

We have eaten in and taken out from this location a dozen times and we have never been disappointed in the quality of their food and the service of their employees. This location is very well run with employees well trained, consistent quality and extremely clean. The chicken always tastes like it was fried in new oil, crispy and moist inside. On one occasion where I was alone and dined in, they gave me at least two or three extra chicken tenders that I was able to take home and enjoy later.
