Perkins overall like most diners has a fantastic selection of food to choose from. Can get breakfast, lunch, dinner, nearly everything you can get at any diner. There are plenty of sandwiches, hot open platters, other choices and so much more. The ambiance was always fine but always busy which could lead to frustration when you're waiting or trying to have a conversation and you can barely hear. The service was also overall fine too as they tend to listen and respond soon you need help with something. The complaints I have are the pastries may look good, but they tend to be very dry which is never fun. Eating a dry muffin or anything is just not delicious to eat. Also the place does tend to feel a bit dirty and dusty in areas most likely due to the staff forgetting to clean certain areas. But that is expected when it comes to most places. read more

The ambiance here is very nice and was very crowded. This must mean that this is a very popular place to enjoy lunch. The food here is absolutely delicious! It was so yummy that we ate it all and forgot to take pics of our order. You can't go wrong with their chicken melt sandwich and my daughter enjoyed their chicken noodle soup and BLT sandwich. Last Perkin's I recall visiting was in Florida, honestly didn't really know they had then out here. On our way to Six flags we stopped by for some breakfast, we came in & were seated right away. Drinks, Iced Tea, Soda & coffee all decent. On the food I went with the Strawberry waffles, had the strawberry on the side great to dip.. yumm really good waffle, good eggs & sausage. Also tried the Brioche French toast very good. Hubby had the Country sausage biscuit breakfast nice amount of food, good biscuit w gravy. Pancakes & bacon also good. Nice size location with good amount of seating. Service was good & prices are not bad, once we got the check u head to the front for payment everything we had was very good we really enjoyed our breakfast. read more

Decided to give Perkins another go after my first visit four years. Our food was slightly better this time, but nothing memorable. My husbands Egg Benedict was an improvement from the one years prior. I went with the Cheese Blintzes off the specials menu. Although they were good, the portion size was extremely small. I left a bit hungry, which is unusual for me, since I'm not a huge eater. The overall layout and interior of Perkins is clean and roomy. The best part of our meal, by far, was our server. Edward, our server, was so personable, friendly, and efficient. You could tell he truly loved his job. Even though the food is nothing spectacular, I'd go to Perkins again just to have Edwards as a server. read more

It's been a while since we've been back to a Perkins. I was excited when we finally got a chance to go to one. Although there were quite a few customers, we got immediately seated. The restaurant is huge and is separated into multiple dining areas. However, each section is very simply designed, with the decorations mainly consisting of framed pictures, sconces, and hanging lamps. The dining sections are separated by walls that are carved out to where you can see the tables on the other side as well. Hubs ordered the 55 + garden omelette with onion and peppers. He said that he ordered this because he thought he was too fat. LOL. He thought it was all right. Next, daughter ordered the California Avocado Benedict, which are two eggs, avocado, bacon, oven roasted tomatoes, spicy Monterey Jack cheese, hollandaise sauce and garlic seasoning on top of an English muffin. She thought that her order was delicious and that avocado is her favorite. Lastly, I had 2 poached eggs with bacon and blueberry pancakes. I ordered the bacon well done but it wasn't crispy, I thought the pancakes were okay but it wasn't fluffy. Service was quick and friendly. My mother and I had the salmon and I had the meatloaf. it was just awful and all dried out We called the manager and spoke to John and he said we should have picked it up earlier. Very much in the vein of a roadside diner, but without counter service, Perkins offers a broad menu for morning and midday meals. Plenty of booths for solitary and family travelers. On an early September Sunday morn, it was nearly full and I was lucky to catch an alcove for myself. Their Chicken Fried Steak was very good. As big as my hand, well spiced with pleasant crunch and small saucer filled with sausage gravy. Along with two eggs (soft scrambled), Breakfast Potatoes(roasted), and choice of pancakes, muffin or toast (rye, please), it was far too much for me to finish. Still, I made a gallant effort, and enjoyed every bite. Even the coffee served in a table carafe was enough to caffeinate me for the rest of the day. Just wish the carafe had been cleaned before placing on the table. Service was friendly and efficient, with a few stop byes to check on my satisfaction. Although quite busy, I was served quickly via overloaded plate. This Perkins rang almost every note for me. A little more quality control and it would be a top contender among breakfast choices in this part of Mercer County. read more

My coworker & I decided to order lunch in the East Windsor location. Food looked half assed when I opened it. I got the tiniest piece of fish and the rice isn't even real rice. For the price I paid I would of expected something better. I could of bought a salad from somewhere else. Breakfast order was hardly warm. Wanted the hash browns crispy, they were just light brown. I noticed that when I asked for them to be cooked crispy the waiter never made note of it at all. I guess he knew why bother the cook would not listen. Pathetic! Such a simple request. Sausage links were skimpy and over cooked. Eggs were done correctly but lukewarm. Pancakes were tasty but cool. Coffee was not hot either. Manager never came around to check how everything was. I just wanted to eat and leave. Next time my friends want to go I won't. Waiter was pleasant, but you could tell he was not a happy person. Sounded so insincere. Someone should manage the kitchen to expedite hot food and coffee. My wife had been to the Allentown, PA Perkins restaurant three years ago and she loved it. We were coming back from Norfolk, VA and thought our families would like the Perkins Restaurant. We found one in East Windsor, NJ. We decided to stop for an early dinner at Perkins. Good decision. When we arrived at the Perkins Restaurant off the NJ Turnpike, the manager met us at the door and seated us in a booth. Our waitress was very polite and quick with our drinks and our food. My wife and I had the shrimp dish with broccoli and onions over rice. It came out very hot on a skillet steaming. It smelled great and we both thought it was delicious. Our daughter had selected the same dish and was very impressed. My grandson had the turkey dish with potatoes and truly enjoyed it. He's 11 years old and told me it was exactly what he wanted. Our granddaughter (8 years old) loves pancakes and home fries. They serve breakfast all day! She loved it. We were all pleased and satisfied. My wife said they have pies, so we bought a apple coddled. It was baked right there in their kitchen! Smelled great and looked delicious. Manager gave our grandkids 2 homemade cookies free. They loved them. When we got home that evening we all tried the pie and it did not disappoint! Again, great food and friendly service. We strongly recommend Perkins Restaurants to any one who loves food and loves great service! If you go to Allentown, PA or East Windsor, NJ, you definitely must stop in and have a memorable meal. Perkins has great breakfast. I personally think their pancakes might be better than IHOP's (gasp) and they have a variety of syrups too. Breakfast potatoes are also killer! Their dinner time food can be hit or miss. Play it safe with chicken fingers and fries (good honey mustard). They run special menus during seasons, i.e. Oktoberfest, thanksgiving, etc. It's overall mediocre diner quality food though, and always packed with people ages 65+. They really love it here! Staff is usually attentive and friendly. Great baked goods: pies and muffins. Floral, old fashioned decor but clean and bright. Ample parking and closes pretty early, around 9pm daily. read more

When we had issues with the food we told owner and waitress we received it was corrected then the owner got tired of us complaining and said to my husband this is the last time we will do this for you that was replace cold food we received instead of a hot breakfast yes cold eggs or uncooked pancakes. He didn't want to hear it anymore we have not returned after that unprofessional comment to a long time customer. So in other words don't complain just eat what they bring out to you . (My wife & I visited yesterday, 8/29/19 & we wrote this review together on Google Reviews). Where should I begin? We were greeted by the manager when we came in. We were escorted to our booth. Seven minutes later our waiter, Nicolas, showed up and asked if we were ready to order. We replied that we would like to get drinks first. An iced tea and a coffee and water--which we never did receive. I asked my hubby to speak with the manager about our waiters surly attitude. While he was speaking with the manager, Erick, Nicolas returned with the drinks, slamming them onto the table. He asked me what I wanted to order, which I did, but I didn't know what my husband wanted to order. He left and came back as soon as my husband returned to the table. My husband, G, asked him if he had come back to apologize, and he said. "For what?" G said "For slamming the drinks down on the table." He denied doing it & G said "Are you calling my wife a liar?" He took my husband's order & walked away. Meanwhile, G told me Eric agreed to coach him. Well, we watched the nearly 2 second exchange that passed for coaching. The food came out pretty quickly. My chicken salad sandwich on a "croissant" was 10 times worse than one from Dunkin' Donuts! See photo. It was impossible eat as a sandwich since the top literally fell apart. The nits in it had a "gone bad" taste but I could them out. If I had a magnifying glass I might have been able to see the much hoped for celery. Perhaps a mass spectroscope would work. The chicken was in big, dry chunks. A bit more mayo mayo'ed have helped. G's pancakes, fried egg and bacon were fine. They could have put them all on one plate. It looked silly on two plates. It was a little disconcerting to see the staff watching us eat, as if they were waiting for us to spit out our food. It made us think of those restaurant horror stories where the customer's food is pranked. So we got up to leave, started to explain to Eric that the first rule of customer service is "the customer is always right, even when they're not." He started to get defensive, "Well..." he got cut off in mid-week by me saying, "No, we've all worked in customer service & this was an example of us being right." He insisted on taking my meal off the check (since I couldn't eat it) & G objected, saying "We're not looking for a freebie,just good service. We wont be back." Bottom. I had not been to Perkins since I was a child, and so I really held high expectations when I arrived. Unfortunately, my experience did not mirror my expectations. The venue is large with ample parking. Generally no wait. The service was okay. The server did the job and we received our food after a decent time had passed. The pancakes were not as full and tasteful as I had remembered. My eggs were somewhat cold, and during the winter time in New Jersey, it definitely matters! Overall had an okay experience, I would probably return just off of name brand. But clearly Perkins has fallen from the excellent service and heartwarming food I once remembered as a child. For a low budget diner type restaurant, this Perkins deserves 5 stars given the variety of choices and comfy diner-like ambiance. As a fan of eggs & bacon, they have great brunch choices, where pancakes come with omelettes!!! The ingredients may not be the freshest, but you pretty much get what you pay for (compared to the nicer brunch spots in Jersey / Manhattan). The waiters here are helpful, the food comes out quick, and you'll pretty much get what you expect. Maybe it's because the Dennys and the ihops in the area are very mediocre and every experience I had with them I somehow translate and bunch Perkins in the mix. Welllllll this is different. Perkins at East Windsor is a nice average diner feel with a menu that is quite expansive with quick and reliable service. For twenty bucks, me and my girlfriend ordered a Combination of 5 eggs, 6 bacon, 2 toast, 4 pancakes, 2 orders of tots, large chocolate milk and a pot of coffee. It was all delicious. Compared to the Dennys and ihops of the world, Perkins is the best. But compare that to the Americana down the street and you have some interesting competition. Americans may have a more prestigious look and feel. But the quality and quantity you get per dollar...i vote Perkins. Highly underrated and will be coming much more frequent read more

Perkins is perkins. A nice cleaned up version of dennys and ihop. Breakfast and dessert place mostly with lunch and dinner options thrown In. Friend liked their pancakes. I had a chicken club with French fries. The fries were delicious, I wasn't going to eat them my friend wanted them but they were so good I ate them. The chicken was overcooked n a little dry which made for a over crunchy sandwich the bacon was overcooked so it crumbled like bacon bits. The food took forever to come out. The service was good.
