This place reminds me of a 70's hotel lounge that is so out of style that it's coming back into vogue. The ambience is cool because everybody is welcome. The staff as well as the clientele love to play give and take which adds to the charm. The nachos are HUGE and their chicken dishes are good and very large. A friend and I went there the other day for lunch - I'd been in years ago but believe me, nothing has changed. I wasn't impressed 40 years ago and I'm still not impressed. Decor, grill, bar, etc all looked like it's been there 45 years! Including the crud around the taps in the section we sat in. This place could use the help of Robert Irvine from Restaurant Impossible! The positive reviews must have come from people late night when they couldn't see the conditions of the place or were too drunk to care. There was a female bartender who wasn't totally up to par tending the bar and some guy (cook?) who kept talking down to her instead of respectfully helping her. Anyway, we both ordered an adult beverage that was supposed to be a Strawberry Lemonade with Vodka (It contained vodka - no problem there, strawberry liquor and Mike's Hard Lemonade). They would do better to use real lemonade and crushed strawberries with a citrus Vodka. Not to mention the drink itself cost $9.00! Are we serious folks? I ordered a "Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich" which was supposed to have lettuce, a grilled pineapple slice and teriyaki sauce. The chicken was dry and the pineapple slice was so thin you could barely find it. I've had better in other restaurants. The potato pancakes were what appeared to be round hash browns that they put on the grill to brown. Nothing to write home about there either. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and I won't be back unless they do some updates and hire cooks / bartenders that know what they are doing. read more

If you're in the mood for nachos, fairly cheap beer, and fun pictures of chickens, then this is the place to go. If you're looking for high quality food... this is not the place to go! most of their menu spends some time in a microwave, and they dont even hide it!! I really enjoy the open layout of this place. You can watch pretty much everything happen. All the cooking is done behind the bar which is located right in the middle of the restaurant. The staff of servers is always a lot of fun and very sociable. Love the chicken- so delicious! read more

I told them I was a yelper and they gave me the best seat in the house. It's actually seat yourself, so I may have had something to do with it. Some people in the Lehizzle tend to overrate places resulting in a letdown for more seasoned individuals. It is a good place in suburbia to visit, but don't get carried away. Some of the food is good. Other dishes not so good. The beer selection is very good, and they do have specials. The people that work there are friendly including one particular cook and dishwasher. read more

I was just at the Chicken Lounge the other night. The atmosphere has completely changed. Its warm and inviting! It has recently been taken over by new management, who is wonderful! The walls have been painted..new covering on the tables and seating. The food is awesome..and reasonable prices, new beer on tap and non-smoking! I swear to never step foot in such an establishment again. What was once a great, small place for grilled wings and nachos is now something just shy of a cult. Now, please understand before reading this that both me and my fiancé, who went to The Chicken Lounge the other night (expecting the great service and food we once remembered) like to think of ourselves as accepting. No matter what ethnicity, religion, or sexual preference some one may be, we're all human. When we walked in the bar, maybe 15 minutes before 10, there was a "please seat yourself" sign at the door. Naturally, we sat ourselves at a table and waited for our server. A good 10 minutes passed by, and still no server.. Just awkward eye contact from pretty much every employee, some of which easily could have taken our order. 15 minutes passed, and our server finally arrived. As soon as we tried to order, he told us we weren't "in the right place." Immediately, we realized that EVERY person in the establishment was a male, many of which noticeably homosexual.. including our waiter. Both my fiancé and I saw no problem in this, as we didn't even realize until told by the server that we basically weren't welcome there. When I stated that we still wanted service, our waiter was at a loss for words. I explained to him that it's not only illegal to deny us service, but immoral. He got cocky and left to get his manager. By the time he came back, it was already 10:15. He rudely asked us if we wanted anything to drink, and then asked us if we had ID. Both my fiancé and I left our wallets in the car.. All I had on me was a credit card, because we didn't plan on consuming any alcohol. The server then told us we had to leave, and continued to deny us service. We both are obviously over the age of 21.. Me being 32 and her being 29. At that point It was 10:15, and everywhere else was already closed. We weren't able to eat out that night, thanks to The Chicken Lounge. You would think that since homosexuals have been fighting towards equality for many years now, we would have been accepted in this restaurant.. My fiancé and I will never go there again, and we will tell everyone to do the same. I would not recommend bringing a family or significant other there, because you too may be denied service.. I'm hate leaving a bad review, but this place truly earned it.. read more

Some of the comments on previous posts amuse me. I have been a somewhat regular at this place for about 15 years. I have never been disappointed. Let's start with this. If you are up-tight and/or a stickler for detail you will likely be disappointed. Nope the service is not consistent and the staff is unorthodox to say the least. If you are looking for a "normal experience I would recommend a chain restaurant. The place is quirky and at times I can understand why some folks might be uncomfortable. It's old school and seems to be somewhat disorganized but in my mind that's the charm along with good food and a "relaxed (at times to relaxed) atmosphere. If you go in not expecting a 5 star experience but just want a beer, some wings and maybe a burger and interesting staff and often interesting clients and to just chill I expect you will enjoy. Had heard from locals that this place was great. After visiting with some friends I have no idea what all the hype was about. The famous nachos were terrible and the chicken wings were by far the nastiest I've ever had. The only saving grace was the beer menu. Now the service stinks, waitress walked pass us 3 times before the cook had to tell her we had been sitting, she took our order and never gave it to the cook. Took an hour to get our food. After a day at Dorney Park, Chicken Lounge was one of the few places still open. My friends and I were genuinely excited to try a place called the chicken lounge. It sounded like a fun time and fun chicken. When we arrived, we grabbed a table and waited for a good 15 minutes before any server came to our table. Giving us not enough menus, any water, or even a hello, she asked us if we were all over 21. I wasn't and said so. As snarkily as possible, she informed us that according to PA law, they were legally a bar after 10 and could not serve us. It wasn't past 10 despite the 15 minute wait. I wasn't and said so. While I suggested that we just get takeout, our server was so nasty we no longer had any intention of eating there. As we left we overheard her loudly telling a coworker that she KNEW one of us was underage, as though we were trying to trick her or something. Heard the nachos were good so gave them a try. Undoubtedly the most disgusting plate of food I've ever been served. The chicken was like the Purdue chicken grillers sold in a grocery store. When you're charging $14 for nachos, is it too much effort to throw a chicken breast on the grill and top the nachos with that?!? The guacamole, supposedly homemade, was...I don't even know how to describe it. Tasted like mayonnaise. The beans, which are piled underneath all the other garbage were cold. I'm one who will typically send food back if I can't eat it but the whole experience was so awful I didn't even want to get into it with the bartender/server. Good food !!! Neat viewable grill/cook setup. They couldn't give separate checks. I was a bit confused about that.

PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE ( especially if you have food allergies) they use one big grill located in the middle of the restaurant and it is not cleaned In between orders. Meaning fish, chicken, and red meat all get cooked together. They also pull chips from a large bag directly onto your plate with out gloves. Employees fixed themselves meals while customers where waiting for orders and paid no mind to anything but their phones. Most of the staff seemed extremely unprofessional and just outright unclean to be working in the food industry. Missing teeth , greasy/sweaty hair, dirty hands with black nails. Absolutely repulsed by the staff and will not frequent again. ( I mean come on how hard is it to hire at least one employee with a full set of teeth?) read more

Hole in the wall sums it up!!! The grilled chicken sandwich and potato pancakes both had grill marks on them. I like grilled food; but not with everybody Else's grilled food seared into my meal. I don't think they ever cleaned the grill off since opening. read more

They must have changed owners. Food was terrible. Steak sandwiches were grisly and rolls were inedible. I really don't think they put salt on our burgers. Place used to be one of my favorites. $13 Nachos were still decent. AVOID this place. read more

Very nice place and good food at good prices. I was very glad they had gotten rid of the jukebox and karaoke and just had soft radio music on. That makes a nice atmosphere to talk in. Unfortunately, it appears like they have now brought karaoke and some live entertainment back, which make it very difficult to have a nice conversation. read more

Food is terrible, they serve nothing healthy, only good thing is the beer but it's over priced, wait staff gets paid $2.83 an hour then has to share tips with management and cooks and bus boy, they are lucky if they clear $20 a night, no way they can survive on that, they allow patrons in the building right before 2:00 and serve them alcohol, They have untrained waitresses making all drinks, and management cares more about getting hammered and collecting tips than doing work.
