My experience this evening was disgraceful. I have been coming here for years and I am so disgusted that I can't ever see me coming back. The food was fine, but the manager (I think he was the manager) talked to us for most of our time there, including while we were eating. I hardly got to speak with my son who had joined me. During his frequent visits to our table, he proceeded to explain to us how the virus is basically a hoax and is not as bad as everyone is saying. After I explained that a friend of mine is fighting for his life due to COVID-19 he kept going and never stopped spewing his conspiracy theories, despite seeing that he was upsetting me. My friend and I went here on a Saturday night after attempting to go to Bonefish Grille and being scared out of the LVM parking lot by the crowds. Maybe I have such a negative outlook on the meal because I was anticipating the amazingness of Bonefish all day and wound up at the Chicken Lounge. My friend advised that we get the nachos to start. I liked the ample amount of toppings but HATED the fact that they use Doritos (or a Dorito-type knockoff, if my taste buds were correct). I wish she (or the menu) had informed me of this before ordering. I had the mushroom-swiss burger and was quite disappointed. The burger itself was really good--perfectly cooked and had wonderful grill taste to it. However, the mushrooms were canned and not even warm. I knocked almost all of them off and wound up eating a burger with just swiss cheese and lettuce (the tomato slice was too thick to easily manage on the burger). I get the fact that it's a chill place, but service was really not great. I saw our server pass by our table quite a few times when we really needed something, though he was pretty busy with a large (obnoxious) group of people seated near us. One can only imagine what images "Chicken Lounge" conjures up. Strip joint, sleazy hotel bar, perhaps even a certain house of ill repute in Nevada. Let me paint the real picture. Imagine a grill planted in the middle of the restaurant with a low-height bar with seats that seem stolen from a hotel lobby. The staff is a mix of colorful and friendly as hell revolving cast of characters run by two guys named Augie and Tommy who always wears a truckers hat and flannel short sleeved tee shirt, all the crew running around equally capable of mastering various tasks from mixing drinks, to washing dishes, waiting perimeter tables and most notably, grilling some of the most delicious food in the Valley. The wings are completely different from anything you'll find in Allentown---grilled (as is most of the food---there is no fryer), so that they melt off the bone as you put them in your mouth. The dinners are incredible: your choice of an entrée with potato, bread, and veggie choices that you won't be able to finish because its so much food. Best night to experience this is Steak Night on Tuesdays. And if you are lucky, you'll catch a special. Best part? The kitchen often stays open until 1230-100am. Chicken Lounge isn't for everybody. While there are 2 big TVs, all the TVs are set at weird angles making it hard to really enjoy a sports event. Besides, there's a fighters chance the staff might have turned on "So You Think You Can Dance?" instead of your favorite ballgame. Also, keep in mind TCL was originally the kitchen for some sort of 60s or 70s department store. The décor doesn't appear to have changed all that much, giving the place a bit of a retro-disco feel to it. One other note: the nachos here are made from Doritos, which might turn some people off or seem cheap. But wait until you try them . . . . Not a first date joint and frankly, TCL isn't laid out for large groups. But if you and a buddy or two want a nice cold beer, simple, grilled food, you are at the right place. Besides, if you can't get your game on one of the TVs, the staff will provide plenty of entertainment! Allentown's most underrated spot: don't ever change! read more

Where do I even begin... They serve "fried" food but I was told by the waitress that they don't have a fryer when I asked if the kids meal came with fries. (Mind you, I soon found out this is not that kid friendly of a restaurant)... so no fryers but they serve chicken fingers, fried wings, etc.... all I noticed was 5 convection microwaves and a stove (for which I assume they use to give the microwaved chicken a "cooked from scratch look" ???? Not really sure, but my husband who usually eats everything under the sun even when it is semi decent food took one bite and didn't touch the rest of his "chicken cheesteak" -- the amount of explosive diarrhea he had from one bite was enough explanation to never eat there again. But no, I figured "chicken wings can't be that bad..." or my mango habanero chicken sandwich can't be THAT terrible. The projectile vomit that came spewing out of me when I got home was horrid beyond belief. That's not the last of it... my son who's almost 2 is sitting in the bath when all of a sudden.... are u ready for it? Projectile vomits EVERYWHERE. Inside the bath tub... outside of the bathtub... my bathtub needed a bath. My recommendation is, go anywhere else but here. God even fake Pizza from Pizza Hut seems more appetizing then the poison chicken from the chicken lounge. Good riddance. read more

They serve old skunk beer, took one swig and almost spit it out, really foul, showed the manager the date on the bottle (3 months old!) and he screamed at me if I don't like it don't come back. I don't get why people like this place? For a burger that was $9.00+ it was burnt and well done when I asked for it to be medium. The menu has only a few items and for a place with cocks all over the place, there wasn't many "chicken" choices. Very weird seating. I felt like I was on top of the person sitting behind me. I heard about this place being good but something happened that it turned into shit. High prices for low quality food. We took my sister in me here for her birthday and she calls us at 12am to tell us she's been throwing up. She got the NY steak and a piece of chocolate cake there. This place used to have the best Nachos ever..... I don't know what happened but lately they are terrible. They switched to a different type of nacho chip.... and once you start to eat them and get to the second layer they are all stuck together and hard as a rock. We like to gather here about 4 times a year and eat, drink and be merry. The burgers are really good and the chicken quesadillas good....just don't expect much from the nachos! read more

I love this place. The food is good and the beer is cold. They don't have a fryer so everything is cooked on a grill in the middle island. Some of the items I like are the nachos,potatoes pancakes and mango habanero chicken. You can sit around the bar or they have tables . Great place for burgers,wings or appetizers. On a recent trip back to my old neighborhood I was excited to find that the chicken lounge was still open, so me and the wife stopped in for a quick drink and something to eat. As soon as I walked in I realized the place had not changed in decades, keeping the same old comfortable layout in tact. Most people would say it looks dated I call it nostalgic. The ribeye sandwich was excellent just as I remember it. My bartender was Auggie, Who is also the manager and he took real good care of us. Another thing I like about this place is they cook your food right in front of you so you can see if they're washing their hands or not. I deducted one star because even though the bathroom was clean it smells like something died in there. Overall I would highly recommend this place. read more

So here's the deal - all you assholes wanting to rate this place based on the "upper class" offerings nearby can piss off. If I wanted to go to grill 3501 and talk about my day with investors and doctors and be put to shame just rolling up to the parking lot NOT driving a Benz or a bmw then I'd go there. That being said, here's my review. I live less than a mile from this place (in fact I can walk here) and I frequent it often. So let's split this up into different sections. Food. I've had a few things from the menu and have yet to be disappointed. The chicken quesadillas (which is supposedly an appetizer) is actually a meal in itself and its goddamn delicious. Most frequently I order off the ribeye sandwich menu. It's like eating a sandwich made of steak and all the delicious fixings all on a sandwich with potato pancakes as a side. If you don't like that? Please gtfo. The nachos btw are awesome. I've had the "small" in addition to my meal many times - and I feel as though it alone could feed Hercules himself. Many of the past reviews have mentioned that they are scared to eat the nachos cause they've watched a staff member "scrap them off the microwave floor,"....well, I've been here till close and I've watched them clean their microwaves religiously, not just at the end of shift but also in between. So, stop being a pussy and just enjoy the deliciousness in front of you. The service. Yes, I've been here many times. Yes, I've spent a good amount of money here. But the workers here are people I can rely on. They remember my name when I come in and remember what I like - but allow me to make the decisions. I've never had one issue with the service or the people behind the bar. Tommy - one of the bartenders- always greets me as a VIP and treats me with the utmost respect. Even Bill, the dishwasher, has become a good friend and talks with me when I visit the place. Does it get hectic at times and the service slows down, as it would anywhere when it gets busy? Sure, but the people are always more than willing to make it up to you and to make sure that you're comfortable and having a good time. So in short, this place has been here for years. If you wanna be an uppity asshole and rate this place based on "demeanor" or "styling" you can go shove it. There's a reason this place has been here since the 70's - it's personable customer service, delicious food, And overall personality are offerings other places in the vicinity cant compete with. read more

The chicken lounge!!! This place has been around forever, I mean forever. I believe around 40 years. Years ago Lvh nurses when worked evening shift would go after work for drinks and nachos and reflect about everything, I mean everything. This was my husbands and I first date also, 12 years ago. It was a staple but then they detour from their standard menu and it completely changed the vibe. Their website is a bit off too, could not find the menu recently. I believe they tried to turn it into more "southern" fare. I have nothing against southern fare but not for the chicken lounge. After 2 years we decided to give it a shot. It was enjoyable. The atmosphere is nice, the menu went back to similar to old school chicken lounge fare but not everything is back on the menu. It is more of simple menu. Most eateries located in strip malls have the tendency of getting a bad rap, or are accused as not being an "actual" restaurant. Where I wouldn't consider the Chicken Lounge my first place to go for dinner, it is an excellent place to go to snack on appetizers and get your drink on. The ribs are tasty with a smoky flavor. Between three people we nommed on two orders. The nachos are indeed made with Nacho Cheese Doritos! I thought they would taste funky but with the right amount of alcohol they were the perfect late-night snack. We also ordered clams, which were decent. Not great, not horrible. A bit weird with Smirnoff but that's neither here nor there. The grill is sunk into the middle of the place which gives it a pretty open feel. The lighting is recessed and Ikea-like. Perfect for late night dates. If you don't feel like drinking at home and have a case of the munchies, the Chicken Lounge is a good place to go. read more

I've lived here for 15 years, stooped at this place on my first drive into town, and it is exactly what it was back in 1998 - comfortable enough. The disconnect between the servers and the patrons is - if nothing else - consistent. They hire good people, but there's no coaching and management engagement - so these kids just exist but don't excel or build rapport with patrons. Went Sunday after being at Dorney Park all day. I ordered the teriyaki wings for an appetizer. The teriyaki sauce was spicy which was unexpected but not a turn off. The wings were nicely grilled and came with blue cheese dressing and celery. For dinner I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with potato pancakes. The burger came with a slice of tomato and lettuce and no other condiments. The flavor of the grilled burger stood well on its own and didn't need any condiments. I tried the nachos. I wasn't expecting Doritos instead of corn chips. The nachos had a mildly sweet enchilada sauce on them. Service wasn't speedy. I was glad I had ordered the wings so I could begin eating sooner. Not only did they get rid of their small size, their large is now $16.99, and add another few dollars if you want chicken! But in terms of the food, its tasty, and the prices are reasonable. I enjoy their mixed drinks (which can be quite pretty to look at) and the laid back atmosphere. I've been here several times over several years. I like the food (Cuban, Buffalo Burger med-rare, wings, and of course the chicken nachos which unfortunately are now over priced). The food is usually good. Only once or twice I've had meh food. Never any "projectile vomiting". But, that being said, I would have to say this place needs BETTER MANAGEMENT. I would have to agree with another reviewer that it isn't really kid friendly. They seem to allow foul language to fly at the bar which is within 3 ft of the tables. I've had employees talk to us and make things a little uncomfortable with their comments. I've witnessed people getting loud and being asked to leave. The service is also a bit slow. This all stems from poor management. It is also fairly dark and could probably stand a bit of a reno. My wife and I still go there because we know what to expect. This is your prototypical dive bar from the 1970s which is when this place opened. I did not have any food there because we had already eaten prior to meeting another friend here. I will say that the bottled beer selection is impressive for a place like this. The tap selection was also admirable with Dale's Pale Ale and Bells on tap in addition to the required crap beer (Miller Lite and Yuengling). Another plus is there beer is dirt cheap compared to my usual gastropub hangouts. The atmosphere is very relaxed, low key with a mixed crowd age wise which is what I like in a place. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Once you get visually past the very old motif of the place, it's a pretty chill place to kick back for a beer. Flew out from Portland Oregon due to my mother being in the hospital, needed a break from icu and 5 min from the hospital I found this great place . The wings were everything I've missed from the east coast. Grilled mango habenero wings are out of this world .Great beer selection and a great menu of stuff id love to try the 5 stars comes from the staff , they were all super friendly and personable and really made my night alot better.
