I can't believe this place has such bad reviews. I've been coming here since I was 2 years old (so maybe the nostalgia makes the food taste better?). This place just is Texas- a great place to take your visiting Aggie parents or drink beer with your friends. It's my favorite burger in town. Sitting by the fireplace is great in the winter. Yes, they're back! I was eating, drinking and playing pool here back in the 70's and 80's. After a fire and renovations, they were gone for a long while. I feared it might be permanent. On my last trip to Bryan a family member wanted to have his birthday lunch here. I'm in! Let people say what they might about Chicken Oil, but the fact of the matter is at lunch, the parking lot was full and there was a line waiting to order. Can't be too bad huh? The decor? Well, as before, there's almost no open spot on the walls. Very rustic with a comfortable feel. They also have a great outdoor patio. Looks like a great place for a party! Their burgers were what I remembered the most, so that's what I went with. They also had great looking chicken and chicken-fried-steak country baskets as well as shrimp baskets and sandwiches. Everything our group had was pleasing. There were definitely no complaints from any of us. Yep, I will be back! Chicken Oil is the perfect place to get a bite to eat and socialize with friends and family. I love the atmosphere!

This was my first time visiting Chicken Oil Co. I loved the rustic vibe inside. The prices are very reasonable here! Ambiance: Very busy and lively at dinner time. There is tons of seating and you order at the counter. The cashiers were mediocre but the individuals bussing the tables were exceptional. Extremely kind and constantly cleaning up after us! Chicken bites: These chicken bites remind me of McDonalds. I don't really enjoy McDonalds McNuggets so it wasn't my favorite. 1/4 lb cheeseburger: Compared to other reviews I thought the bun was good and the burger was very juicy. It had great flavor but it is on the smaller side. It didn't come with a side and you needed to order it separate. Fries: I liked the thick cut fries and they are very soft rather than crispy. The fries also have an almost sweet aftertaste. The only thing is the fries were not that hot and it lacked salt.

overcooked, burnt meat with dry stale bun.

They served me a cheeseburger and I'm terribly allergic to cheese. The hamburger patties were hard and dry as shoe leather. The bun was dry and stale and it was only there second day re-opening. Don is crying.

Where greasy hangover food intersects with deer wall mounts, dusty beer can collections and pictures of Waylon, Willie and boys. Cold beer and palatable burgers, fries and chicken. Git ya sum.

My quest for a solid replacement for Fitzwilly's continues. While this succeeded in atmosphere and feel, the food did not. First, the atmosphere and decor. LOVE it. Very old-school College Station. Very old-school Northgate, even though it's not on Northgate. This is The Dixie Chicken's sister location, and it shows. Note that is is NOT The Chicken. This is more of a restaurant that serves beer, while The Chicken is primarily a bar. Anyway, lots of old wood, old signs, taxidermy, and heavily carved-up / inscribed tables. Love it. Next, the food and service. The chick who took my order was friendly enough. No real complaints about service. It's not sit-down; you order at the counter and they call your name. Just like old-school Northgate - nothing wrong with that. Food didn't take long to be ready. That's where things got hit or miss... All meat is frozen / pre-prepared. Nothing is handmade or breaded in house. My burger was juicy and well cooked, but it didn't seem to have any seasoning and it just... wasn't special. It was fine - just not worth the money. Should have been cheaper. My wife's buffalo chicken sammich was pretty good, she said. Other chicken tenders ordered by the table were more of the same - frozen and pre-made, then cooked to order. So... meh. The sweet potato fries and onion rings were fantastic. Perfectly fried. Hot frier, perfect crisp, not very greasy if greasy at all. And they have beer. So my take: I'd come back for atmosphere, beer, and munchies. I would NOT order meat / meals here again... unless I'm just having fries and onion rings for dinner. And go for the sweet potato fries over the regular fries. Regular fries were... too regular. Nothing special. Better than A-OK, but not stellar. They could be so much more with more food (meat meals) made in-house. *** CORRECTION: I have been informed that meat is NOT frozen and is delivered fresh each morning. My apologies. The burger didn't *seem* to be freshly hand-made, but it's not frozen before cooking. It still could use that "little something" to make it stand out and be more memorable, but the meat is fresh and never frozen. I've been told it'll be better next time (I do love it when an owner reaches out) and I'll give it one more shot.

I used to live around Hempstead, Prairie view and Waller a couple years ago when I first came to Texas and it was kinda hard finding good places to eat ' I'm not gonna lie I was scouring yelp for about 30 mins before I stumbled across Burger House. I even got to the point where I asked some locals and they said Burger House was a burger staple in C station. Upon looking at the photos, it seemed like a burger that you make at the house to be candid. When I pulled up, I was like "oh wow this place look like a straight shack that's fasho." I decided to go through the drive-through & when I pulled up to the drive-through the gentleman who took my order was hella welcoming and just overall nice like he was happy I pulled up. I swear I was the highlight of my visit. I ended up getting the combo , bacon cheeseburger with fries and a drink, and it was for decent price too. The burger itself was mediocre if I'm being honest, the meat lacked some seasoning, though the fries were pretty decent with a soft inside, light crisp outside. I like the fact they put the lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles on the side instead of in the burger which can make it soggy. So there was some attention to detail. The Bun though? That thang was soft on the outside and was lightly toasted on the inside, which was dope. Would I be back? If I'm being honest, just to say wasup to the gentlemen who took my order and that's about it!

Garlic Burger w/ Garlic Fries- if you're a garlic fan, this was packed with a pretty strong garlicky taste. Superman w/ Garlic Fries- large and flavorful. The drinks were Texas made and they delicious. I loved the strawberry cream soda or the orange cream soda. Lots of different burgers and desserts to choose from. Overall, decently priced for the portions and the quality of the food. These burgers were probably the best fresh juicy burgers that we've had so far in town.
