IT WAS LIKE A SNEAKER DROP.... I got there 30 minutes early and still were people in line before me... When I got in line the line grew even more behind me... I knew I had to stand and wait because I couldn't miss this opportunity of trying food that draws such long lines from locals! I finally reached the door! I was nervous if my taste buds would handle all the greatness that has people waiting in lines! This day they were doing a Party Plate Sampler and I went with the ten options! The line was pretty long and unfortunately did not move very quickly, but the seafood dressing makes it worth it. Macaroni and cheese is garlicky and extremely delicious. Man oh man. This is the place to comfort your soul with food. I heard about Chicken's Kitchen through a foodie friend, Camp. I'm from MS so I want a little southern cooking from time to time. But the thing is this is a southern cajun kitchen aka 10000000 times better! I went one Friday around 10:45 AM (they open for 10:30 AM). I tell you the line will be long some days but the wait is worth it (unless they sell out, and they do sell out). I was tempted to get the fried catfish but i'm so happy the lady and man in front of me told me the fried ribs was where its at. With this plate, you can do a meat, a main and two sides!? LIKE WHAT? My main was mac and cheese and jambalaya (only on fridays can you do both) and I got crawfish hushpuppies and potato salad. Carb loading duh. Plus the ribs, all for $13!?!?!?!?! Not only do they have plates, they have these things called chimmeys which are like eggrolls. They rolled out a new one - birriazy chimmeys and you know my big butt got two of them! Why them peas was seasoned so good I had to just stare at them for a few minutes?? The Caesar salad was hitting, you know Caesar salads be good. The beef had herbs in it which tempted me to pick it, cooked to perfection. It was good but after I let it sit and marinate in the sauce, by my second helping it was yummy! My HONEST review of Chicken Kitchen!!! I give them a 3 out of 10. The food was not bad just way too salty and highly seasoned. I ordered the pasta with shrimp, and I had the blackened catfish, potato salad, and hush puppies. The pasta was overly salty, it had so much cayenne pepper on top I was choking with each bite. The blackened catfish was highly seasoned don't get me wrong it was moist, but whoever made the pasta was heavy hand with the seasoning. The potato salad was okay I can make better at home. The hush puppies were the only thing I truly liked on the plate. If the food wasn't so overly spiced, and salty I would have given this place a 10. It concerns me, because I know we like spicy things in Louisiana, but this dish sent me into a high blood pressure attack. Like seriously, if I ate this everyday my blood pressure would be through the roof. Unfortunately, I can't recommend them to anyone I know, but all I can say is try this restaurant at your own RISK. I am not downgrading anyone's business just saying the food should be tasted before serving it to customers. It would be even better to offer less spicy options on the menu, because everyone is not a fan of spicy things. I would suggest, if you eat here please buy some tums for heartburn, because you will need it. Otherwise, I hope the manager will take into  consideration, that if want people to support your business then some substitutions need to be made. Waffle & Chicken: Waffle was dry and chicken tenders was cold and dry with a lot of seasoning for a morning breakfast 2. Big Back Breakfast: The grits had seasoning in it like your cooking chicken went accent and other season that was put in it. Went a slice of cheese for 0.75 a slice. 3. Shrimp & Grits: The shrimp and grits tasted like barbecue shrimp it was very distasteful. The Worcestershire sauce was over powering the dish. It was very spicy needing for bread for barbecue sauce. The prices was not a problem even though the big breakfast cost about $10.00, the waffle and tenders was $10.00 and the Shrimp and grits was $13.99 mine you when my waffle was in the iron the electricity with out and they was checking the breaker to see if there was something they could do. At this point I assume that it was not done and the cashier replied on it looks okay. Food is amazing. The price is well worth the quality of the meat and the seafood you're getting, and they load the plates up for us like a nice portion. Also, if you think about it, you're getting two meals for the price of one because depending on how much you eat, you can use, say, the second part of the plate as a meal. If you're looking for something fast and quick, I would not recommend this place because even though the food is more just served in and put on a plate, they do get very busy and packed, and they usually yell it's a line out the door. The wait is probably like a 5 to 10 minute wait, but it's worth it. The service there is amazing; the workers work really well and serve the food up quickly. There is also a nice cupcake shop that sells cupcakes and cakes, and their cupcakes and sweets are very nice as well. So while you're sitting in there, you can grab a cupcake while you're waiting for your plate. read more

Rating is 3.5. I've been twice and wasn't overly impressed on either visit. I might give them a third shot but I'm not sure. Staff has always been friendly and the portion sizes are good. Parking has gotten worse in the neighborhood with many spots listed for residents only. The mac & cheese is perfectly cheesy, the turkey necks were well seasoned and tender as ever, the sweet potatoes were perfectly sweet & the greens were good just very salty so i'm not sure about getting those again. When walking in there is a desert bar full of various cakes & cheesecakes so of course I had to try one! I got the red velvet and omg! It was perfect, the best red velvet cake I had in a while. It was spongy, moist , soft & had the perfect flavor. You can tell it's homemade. It's a decent amount of cake for $5, so I would definitely try her other sweets out. The service was good and the staff was very kind. This isn't a place I can try once and be done so I'll definitely be back on another day to try another meal. I found Chicken's Kitchen through instagram and had their food twice already. 10/10 both times. The first time I came here, the line wasn't long. Today though, I was standing outside waiting for the line to move. It only took about 10-15 minutes to get my food. The restaurant is small and they have parking all around it on the streets. Their prices range from $10-$20 each plate, which includes 1 main dish and 3 sides. I definitely recommend coming here and trying their food out. And if you do, come before 12pm. read more
