I love that they use white meat chicken and never anything weird texture-wise in the meat. I consider myself pretty picky when it comes to chicken and this place always hits the mark. I had the pleasure of experiencing this establishment during my first Yelp event last year. I'm a huge chicken salad fan and I have to say, I wish I had tried this place sooner! I was a little hesitant to check them out based on some of the reviews but then I got an email from the OTP coordinator Kelli saying this event might be something I would enjoy. I decided to check it out and I'm so glad I did. We got to try a variety of the menu and everything was outstanding. I'm not even sure I could pick a favorite chicken salad but I was definitely fond of the buffalo style and the lemon. Their pimento cheese was good, but honestly, I'm partial to my husband's. The broccoli salad was something I wouldn't normally go for, but I enjoyed this as well. The cookies they serve up are quite addictive as well! Came here with my 18 mo old daughter when we were looking for a place for a "girls lunch". Getting toddlers to eat anything can sometimes be a challenge. She loved the classic chicken salad. CSC has perfected this Southern ladies luncheon food to something more by offering 16 (yup, 16) varieties of chicken salad on their menu. I've always been a fan of chicken salad, but in my house my Dad was the expert at making it. I'm accustomed to it being packed with celery and loaded with mayo. At CSC, their old south is jam packed with pickles and hard boiled eggs and man is it delish! But let's back up a bit. This was my first visit and I had a terrible time deciding. So instead of getting a sandwich, I went with the Trio. This allowed me to get a scoop of 3 different flavors for my first time. Now for me, I only had 11 to choose from as 5 of the versions have nuts in them - I know this is a popular thing to put nuts in your chicken salad, but obviously that'll kill me dead - so I had to avoid a few. After discussing with Tanya C (a regular) and the girl behind the register, I chose my 3: Olivia's Old South (pickles and eggs), Fruity Fran (apples and grapes) and Sassy Scotty (ranch, bacon and shredded cheddar). They serve the trio with half a dozen packets of wheat crackers and on a few leaves of green leaf lettuce. No frills. Half the crackers were broken in the packets, but I managed to muddle through. The ratio of cracker to chicken salad was off, so I ended up finishing the chicken salad with my fork. While all the flavors I chose were delicious, I think the fruity Fran was the most flavorful without being too rich, however the grapes were whole. That was disappointing - cut the grapes in half. There were both red and green seedless grapes with gave both a sweet and tart component I enjoyed. The Sassy was great, but that's probably better on a sandwich. It was too rich to eat on its own and was too much by the end of the scoop. The old south still had my vote as a great every day salad that I wouldn't get tired of. Other things to note: Their unsweetened iced tea is probably the best and most refreshing I e had any place in town. Clearly freshly brewed, not weak, not bitter. Delicious and I left with a full refill to enjoy on my trek home. The decor is quite "ladies luncheon." They make fun of themselves and have some signage in the men's restroom applauding the men for braving the girliness to make their women happy. (My friend took photos to show me). And they have a rewards program to earn free stuff (drinks, cookies, etc) complete with an app for Apple and Android. Well worth it - why not. read more

How quintessentially East Cobb! I love coming home to visit my family and discovering the new, non-chain gems around town. This place is seemingly strategically placed between a Chili's I worked my way through collage at and a La Madeline, which has long since slipped downhill. East Cobb NEEDS more places like this. Let's face it, it's a ladies-who-lunch spot through and through. But that's okay. Sometimes we need a little girl time. When I went with my mom and somewhat reluctant boyfriend, it was packed. Packed. There was very little direction as to where a line began and ended, so we undoubtedly unintentionally cut people in line. Either way, it's a fabulous sign for a place that's only been open 2 months. The boy is somewhat shy of mayonnaise, so he opted for a turkey sandwich while my mom and I remained dainty by ordering a scoop of chicken salad on a single lettuce leaf. The options for chicken salad vary greatly between savory, sweet or spicy, all with clever names assigned to each one. You can squeeze it into a croissant, the way God intended or on a wheat or white sandwich slice. There is a decent variety of sides as well. To my surprise, my chicken salad wasn't swimming in mayo. This was quite a relief. However, to my shock, I looked over to my boyfriend's turkey sandwich, to which he nearly had a mustard/mayo combination dripping down his arm. It was absolutely atrocious. It's as if they put half a jar of mayonnaise onto each bread slice. The entire reason as to why he opted out of the chicken salad was in fear of there being too much mayonnaise in the chicken salad, but in turn got it all over his alternative. The restaurant is bright and cheery, with plenty of tables. On a Saturday afternoon, the number of women certainly outweighed men ... but there was a cross section of customers. I came during the lunch rush on Monday, around 12:30, and seating was limited especially for groups larger than two. Luckily I was dining alone and grabbed a little two-seater table in the corner. The setup is fast casual and the food is run out to you (unlike Panera where you have to retrieve your meal.) There are about 12 or so chicken salads to choose from and a variety of sides. I opted for the Original Chick combo (One scoop or sandwich, one side, a cookie and pickle spear. It does not come with a soda.) I selected Olivia's Old South on croissant with the broccoli salad. Adding a fountain drink bumps the final cost to about $9.50. Everything tastes exactly the way you would expect. I mean that in a good way. It fulfills your chicken salad expectations. The chicken salad oozes out a bit when you take bites of the sandwich, but that could be because of the croissant. The broccoli salad is tossed in a vinaigrette and sprinkled with bacon and cheese. This is a refreshing side dish. The grape salad (I didn't try this but asked about it) is composed of chopped grapes and has a cream cheese dressing with brown sugar on it. The overall vibe is pretty Southern and a little Waspy (hey, it's a chicken salad restaurant in the suburbs) and the branding/decor is kind of Hobby Lobby chic. She guided us through ordering our food as we were first timers. I ordered the curry chicken salad. You can have it as a scoop with crackers or a sandwich. Very cool that you have options! I opted for the scoop, and it also came with a side, pickle and a cookie. The side salad was a good size and very tasty. All of this was $8.50. The interior is nicely decorated, and had a feminine touch. It is very laid back and you can easily sit and have a nice long lunch or dinner. I won't spoil it, but guys, check out the bathroom.
