I have to give Chicken + Whiskey credit. It takes a special kind of arrogance to serve food that looks like this while also lecturing customers through a mandatory "fair labor fee." Let's start with the obvious. If labor matters so much, build it into the price. Every other business manages to pay employees without turning the receipt into a public relations campaign. Instead, Chicken + Whiskey wants customers to admire them for charging extra after the fact. As for the food, the chicken looked less "wood fired" and more "insurance claim." One piece was so aggressively charred it appeared to have entered the atmosphere and returned. The sides were forgettable, the presentation was indistinguishable from a middle school cafeteria tray, and absolutely nothing on the table justified the premium pricing. The entire experience feels engineered by a marketing team. Keep the menu prices looking lower than reality. Add surprise fees later. Call them something noble. Hope nobody notices. We noticed. The funniest part is that the restaurant seems convinced the labor fee demonstrates transparency. Real transparency would be putting the actual price on the menu. What they're doing is the restaurant equivalent of an airline advertising a cheap ticket and then charging separately for the wings. For a place so concerned with fairness, they seem remarkably comfortable being unfair about pricing. I left feeling like I'd paid admission to watch a TED Talk about compensation practices while eating chicken that looked like it had been recovered from a structure fire. The food wasn't good enough to justify the price. The price wasn't honest enough to justify the policy. The policy wasn't clever enough to justify the attitude. One star. Raise your prices. Pay your staff. Stop expecting applause for it.

Really great service and delicious empanadas. I actually preferred the chicken. It was really fast but it seemed like items were made to order. The staff were super nice. I was here for an early dinner on a weekday but I think it would be great to try their roast chicken and whiskey next time.

This place is tucked behind a restaurant focusing on chicken. The bar is well done. They have DJ's on weekend. A very good selection of bourbons.

We had a plan to come here for some decent Peruvian cuisine and this restaurant fit the bill. Besides it was somewhat close to our apartment so walking here was easy. This side of town is super lively so we actually walked around for a bit before we came here to eat. I ordered the Borracho Wrap while he got the Quarter White chicken thar included 2 sides. This place is Peruvian fast food at it's finest because they did a great job preparing our food. We sat at the restaurant side, although the club side of the place would have also worked. That part of the restaurant has a totally different vibe. I wish this place also served Anticucho because that IS my all-time Peruvian food. The music was traditional salsa, the food was great, and overall vibe was very nice

One of those spots I never skip when I'm in DC. Their pollo a la brasa is absolutely the best in the country--juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked every time. My go-to sides are the yuca fritas and sweet plantains, both so delicious. They offer other sides like arroz chaufa, veggies, beans, etc Prices? Unbeatable Besides their rotisserie chicken (peruvian - venezuelan style), they also serve up wraps, salads, arepas, and more--plenty of options if you're craving something different. Big shoutout to the crew at the counter--your energy and customer service are always beyond special. You guys make the experience even better. Pro tip: Don't miss the hidden bar behind the back doors--it's a whole vibe and 100% worth checking out- also great drinks

New to the area I found Chicken +Whiskey on a food delivery app. I love Peruvian food so I had to give them a try. I ordered the half chicken dark, half bean & rice and sweet plantains. I also ordered a Inka Kola. At first glance I was surprised at the portion. There were two pieces of chicken on a bed of 1/3 c of rice. I was like this can't be all the rice. Then when I looked in the bag the bowl with beans also had rice in it. Odd packaging but I guess altogether it was about a cup of rice. Then the sweet plantains were packaged separately. The chicken was way too salty and the rice and beans had no salt. The sweet plantains were not completely cooked. I was saddened because Peruvian food is always a hit for me and with the high ratings I expected good things. Perhaps it was an off night. There were no utensils in the bag which to me was a missed opportunity to make a good impression. Considering the food was being delivered to a hotel and folks usually need utensils away from home. On the fence about if I would order from here again, but if I did, I would probably go in person instead of ordering through a food app.

Great Peruvian food I will definitely be back. Customer service was ok and I do like the area it's located. Check it out!

Love this place for their chicken! The meal can relatively be healthy and there is indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a pretty good happy hour special. The service is great. You can order your food in a line or from a bartender and they will bring it to you. It is pretty quick since most of the chicken and sides are made. The decor is what you'd expect from a rotisserie chicken place.

This is our go to spot for casual dining with a group of friends. We often go here for dinner and get their combo meal. It used to be $50 but they have increased the price to $60. It's still worth it. They give you two whole roasted chicken ( very tender and flavorful) with 4 sides. Highly recommend the Yuka fries, rice and roasted veggies. Doughnuts are good as well. It also comes with soda. It's good portion for 4 people. It's self serve kinda place.

This place is the epitome of a mullet - business in the front and party in the back. I dropped by Chicken + Whiskey on a early Saturday evening to meet a few acquaintances. While visiting the boy's room, I noticed a bar in the back of the restaurant. Clearly, I missed the big sign on the wall in the restaurant saying "Whiskey in the back". ;) Since I arrived a bit early for my meetup, I decided to check out the bar...Also, I was quite excited to have an adult beverage while waiting for my acquaintances. I'll say that I loved both the chicken and whiskey components of Chicken + Whiskey. I think this is the perfect business model, because you can party in the bar and grab a bite to eat before or afterwards. Whiskey: The bar component has a MASSIVE selection of whiskey options, which is to be expected from the + Whiskey. Also, it has a nice mix of various cocktails, so I think everyone can find something that they will like. For my tasting pleasure, I went with "I can buy myself flowers" (of course I ordered it how Miley Cyrus sings it) and a standard Manhattan on the rocks. Both drinks were delicious although gin-based beverage (I can buy myself flowers) was a bit too sweet for my liking. My bartender (a woman with brownish/reddish hair) was absolutely amazing. Chicken: The restaurant component is a typical Peruvian rotisserie chicken operation with plenty of chicken and side options. For my meal, I went with 1/4 white chicken with two sides (mac n queso and fried rice). The chicken was very delicious with oh so juicy meat. The mac n queso was just ok, but the fried rice (arroz chufa) was amazing especially with the bits of bacon mixed in. The meal was about $14, which I thought was reasonable. Since I did not get enough gin and whiskey from the whiskey bar, I decided to wash my meal down with a can of a hazy IPA. The can of beer was $9, which I thought was a little pricey. But, it is what it is, I guess. Overall, I definitely will love to visit Chicken + Whiskey again, especially the Whiskey part, because I really would like to try more of their cocktails. One note: While you can take your beverages from the Whiskey part to the Chicken part, it is HIGHLY recommended (actually, it might be a rule) that you do not bring food from the Chicken part to the Whiskey part. If you want bites while in the Whiskey part, you can over food from the bar's menu.

I used to love taking whiskey and remember and it was just this location on 14th with a really cool back bar. Unfortunately now the quality has gone down as time has gone along and it really has reached a sad point. I ordered a chicken sandwich tonight and basically seeing the bacon bits instead of actual bacon barely enough chicken to fill the bun. It's really quite sad. But it was speedy so I gotta give them that.

After going to a concert in the neighborhood, we were looking for some food to fill our bellies. After checking out a few eateries, we settled on Chicken and Whisky, a Peruvian place, as the roast chicken looked really inviting. The first impression was good. The shop was decorated with bright colors and an open kitchen. All of the staff were young men who were in good spirits and very friendly. We shared the 1/2 chicken with two sides combo and selected the Yuca fries and sweet plantains. We also shared a can of Brazliian Guarana-flavored soda. My husband also tried a pork belly arepa. We must have been hungry because we devoured the food in just a few minutes. That's how good everything was. The chicken was roasted to perfection, even the breast was tender and juicy. The yuca fries were big and crispy and the plantains were nice and charred, but not overly sweet. Needlessly to say we were very impressed with the food and wish we have a Chicken and Whisky near home. If you are in the neighborhood and want some delicious Peruvian roast chicken, definitely give Chicken and Whisky a try.

Again I must preface by saying I didn't dine here or experience the place. I was invited to a dinner here that I couldn't attend, and as a birthday surprise I wanted to send that table a bottle of champagne. I intended to order a Dom Perignon (for which they charge ~$400 per bottle). But the staff was on amateur hour -- instead of taking my order, they altered the reservation, then alerted the birthday person who made the reservation (ruining any potential for a nice surprise gift), and said they would have to cancel the original reservation because the number of people changed. Birthday person had to call them and me to smooth it all over. Then, another person called me to get my email address to send me a PDF to fill out (which I had to then send them on WhatsApp) for my order - a comically silly added bureaucratic/administrative load. Just take the credit card over the phone on the first call/request, like 99% of businesses around the world. This place takes 3-4 steps just to order something... This person had absolutely zero idea that I made the request as a surprise, so it suggests there is pretty poor coordination and communication amongst staff. I'm sure people come here regularly and have great meals and great times. But at their prices, wine/champagne mark-ups, and promise of an 'elevated' experience -- staff need to get their act together.

It's hard to describe but I almost felt like every dish was so genuine? Like it wasn't trying too hard to be unique --which I feel like some fine dining places do given how competitive it is. Each bite was so thoughtful, flavorful and authentic. The lamb was a definite favorite of ours but the standout was actually the dessert --it was like this chocolate 7 ways...it was INSANE. It is located a few blocks from the Washington circle park in Washington DC Service is excellent with attentive and friendly staff, from the hostess welcoming you, to the manager and al the way to the servers. The ambiance is relatively casual, with comfortable, nautical theme of blue and white decor with gold accents. Easy listening music set the stage for a comfortable dining experience, either with coworkers or for a special night out. Their wine and alcoholic drinks selection was wide and their mocktails were equally as interesting. You can definitely see the interesting Mediterranean/Latin fusion in all the dishes. From the ingredients and spices picked for each, to the presentation and flavor profiles, it all screams fusion. Even though we didn't go for the chef's tasting this time, our party got to try and share quite a few dishes.: To start, we were received by a mushroom and truffle cream soup shot. Tasty and creamy, great way to open the appetite. For the appetizer round we ordered the moussaka cigars and falafel. The moussaka cigars were perfectly delicate and airy, yet flavorful, stuffed with eggplant and ground lamb and pine nuts, served with a creamy manchego goat cheese dip to balance the crispy, fluffy phyllo dough. The falafel was equally delicate and light, served with a Latin tahini spiced with sumac and cinnamon. For the main course, we got to try three different dishes: The mushroom risotto - very interesting flavor profile. The crispy fried maitake mushrooms topped the perfectly cooked, creamy risotto, which was surprisingly acidic in a very refreshing way. The lechón was delicious. A generous portion of tender, fall off the bone, suckling pig, including a super crispy skin, served on a date mole with zucchini blossom and a side of zucchini salad with radish, olives and pepitas, definitely stole the show. The only criticism I would have is the zucchini blossom was a bit too oily probably due to the drench they used before frying. Other than that, it was a really well balanced dish. The Lamb terrine was served on top of potato puree, red cabbage confit and lamb juice topped with generous shavings of black truffle. Beautiful to eat with your eyes and equally as delicious on the pallad. For dessert we ordered the pistachio and yoghurt dresser with consisted of a delicious salty pistachio ice cream served with a dulce the leche foam and yogurt, served on a raspberry sauce and topped with a crispy Mille-feuille cookie. Fascinating dessert and incredibly well balanced. The sweetness of the Dulce the leche foam was expertly balanced by the pistachio ice cream and the raspberry sauce provided some acidity. The cookie gave a textural component much needed by all the other soft/smooth elements. Definitely try it out if it's on the menu. I would definitely recommend Imperfecto. I know I'd come back!

You'll be doing 1, 2, 3,...5, 6, 7 all night!!! LOL!!…read more Every time I'm in DC I make it here on a Friday night. I come for some grub and HH drinks. For grub, I usually get the Lomo Saltado. So tasty...I usually share it b/c its too much for me. My drink of choice is always that $10 Caipirinha! After that the music that has started gets a little louder and I'm dancing in my seat until they take the chairs away. Then it's a full blown party. I've always had great service from the manager, the waitstaff, and bartenders. Definitely try this spot, you may see me!

Girls night out! I've been here before, but was like two other friends. We had to come back so we…read moredid. Came here for one of my cousin's birthday. We snack all night and danced the night away. We did have reservations just because of how big our group was. We had the top section bar area to ourselves to eat. The waiter was amazing. We felt very taken care of. The only bad thing is I ordered the tacos and they never came so, I don't know how good they are. The drinks and the food was delicious. We literally all shared our dishes, which is great because our bill was close to $200. I did not take pictures of everything. Music selection was great when we first got there it wasn't as busy as when we left.

Fajita Sub? Really?…read more Yes..really! Take a look at the pic. It is every bit as delicious as it looks. Every ingredient fresh with homemade sauces and the most perfectly baked bread you can have for a sub. The menu options are overwhelming at first, so I ended up settling on their namesake sandwich. I chose the Carne Asada as my protein and went with the default fajita toppings for the rest. I made use of their homemade sauce station as well to complete the entree. After adding a Sugar Cane Mojito Lemonade, the grand total came to less than $10. This for one of the best sandwiches I have ever had in my life...and it could have fed two people! If you see them, stop, ask questions, and then partake in a delicious adventure of latin flavors!

Best under the radar food truck! Don't let the name fool you! They serve wonderful homemade arepas,…read moreso much better than Arepa Zone. When I was walking past the food trucks in Chinatown, I saw an unfamiliar food truck the next block over and decided to check it out. I saw an overwhelmingly extensive menu of subs and arepas and was about to walk past it, when I saw a familiar face. The kind old owner was bringing Fajita Sub to DC! I used to get arepas all the time from the Fajita Sub Factory (they had a trailer) when I used to live in Silver Spring. Soo sooo good! The owner is so passionate and an amazing cook! She makes the arepas and even the seitan and all of the sauces. I was so glad that I saw her and got the Vegan Dream arepa with Venezulan cheese and plantains. It's only a $1 extra for unlimited toppings. I added the garlic crema sauce on top (the sauces are self-serve, you must try them!). For $10, I had one of the best lunches in DC. Everything was packed with flavor from the cheese, plaintains, to the seitan and grilled veggies and the SAUCE, aww the sauce. Was stuffed afterwards, totally worth it! Even though Fajita Sub isn't on the Food Truck Fiesta app, you can come find them on FB page: https://www.facebook.com/fajitasubfactory/
