Upon first hearing about this place, I was super excited to try it out. Being part Lebanese, it's always been my favorite cuisine, and places like Chipotle are my guilty pleasure. This place is essentially a Chipotle ordering style but with Middle Eastern cuisine, something I have always wondered why hasn't been done on a large scale. I got the opportunity to check it out when I was on that side of town before a hockey game running some errands, so I jumped. Upon walking in, the décor is pretty simple and nothing overly spectacular, but the counter front and ordering board are done well. The place was really clean and orderly, and they even have hand sanitizer stations set up by the garbage cans for those of you who don't like germs. Ordering was very easy. The person working the counter was very attentive and knowledgeable, which for me is awesome as a vegan, and is not always the case. I ordered a Falafel bowl, and loaded it with half rice, half cracked wheat, topped with some of their red pepper hummous (all three of their hummous options are phenomenal by the way, and they will let you try anything essentially) lettuce, pickles, pickled turnips, pickled cabbage, more chickpeas, because why not, and some other veggies, they have an abundance of options and I felt compelled to try as many as possible outside of onions as I just wasn't feeling the onions this day. They make your meat/falafel option up fresh to order, at least they did my falafel and the meat orders of the family that was in. I think they have a dedicated falafel frier which is also good, but it might be shared with some meat products so if this bothers you, ask. five minutes after ordering, I had my falafel balls in the bowl, and I was ready to go, although I also asked them about this chickpea soup I was interested in, and they gave me a sample of that, so hurray for more chickpeas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My falafel bowl was aaaaaaaaamazing. I topped it with tahini and garlic spread, but they have other sauces available if your not a fan of either. The falafels were perfect, crisp outside, soft but not overly soggy center, its probably one of the best falafel balls I have had outside of Dearborn. My sampled chickpea soup was probably one of the best soups I have ever had at a restaurant, ever. I don't know what it is, but that spice blend is done right for sure. Next time I go I will make sure I get a bowl of it, but I didn't want to load up on too much heavy stuff before I had a hockey game later that day. The food is done right and is fresh here, what brings me to my biggest issue with this place. How in the heck did I get so much good tastes in my mouth for only $4.50!!! true, a falafel sandwich may only cost you 4.00 or a little less at another restaurant, but you don't get 4 large perfect patties like I got, and that's just for basic falafel, and maybe a little bit of lettuce, some pickles, and a little bit of tahini in a pita. I got a large, super filled bowl of foods....4.50, I don't get it! with the concept, and execution, id expect to pay no less than 5, but maybe that's just me, and I know rice and cracked wheat can be pretty cheap, but still, a burrito bowl at chipotle runs quite a bit more, and is just as filling, and that's a chain restaurant. Whether or not I gain the ability to comprehend the awesome that is this place, I will be back for sure! and next time I will try their lentil soup, but probably order a bowl of the chickpea =) read more

Hellsya, d00d. Really just about every bit as good as I anticipated. Chickpea Kitchen doesn't look all that fancy -- it's a bit bare -- but it's spotlessly clean, the workers are super friendly and helpful (free samples of something if you're unsure about it), and the food -- especially the produce -- almost looks fake or dyed because it's so damn fresh. I opted for a chicken shawarma and added some stuff to it, naturally. I enjoyed it all a lot. My one tiny nitpick would just be that the chicken in my shawarma was very slightly overcooked/dry, but the rest of my wrap was "wet" enough to make up for that. The lemon rice here is very tasty... lemony, tangy, you know, all of that good stuff. The garlic sauce is crazy potent, which I love. It's so strong that the garlic alone sort of burned my tongue. Be ready for it! Maybe the best part about all of this is the price. A wrap, a cup of soup, a side of pita chips and garlic sauce was a dinky $10.31 with tax... more than reasonable given the quality and even quantity of what's served. Ha check out all the fake reviews here: every one has been coached to mention Chipotle. The food here is decent, but mostly bland. I think since most of the bowl consists of raw, uncooked, and unseasoned ingredients, there's not much flavor. Their meats are pretty good, albeit small portions. I drove out here based on reviews both on yelp and Google showing all 5 stars. I been to many different middle eastern restaurants and this place just wasn't anything special. I had really high hopes based on the reviews but i guess most people haven't tried anything better and this is the best they can get. First of all I wasn't given a chance to try all 3 hummus like how someone in yelp stated and i didn't want to ask since they didn't offer. I ordered the steak bowl with cilantro hummus and cracked wheat with chickpeas, ranch and garlic sauce. The garlic sauce was too garlicky. The food did taste fresh and the meat was okay but the portion of meat isn't as much as I'm used to from my usual middle eastern restaurants. If you want some real food order from Cedar Kabob on 15 mile and van dyke. Food is cheaper much larger portion of meat and way tastier with amazing garlic sauce (best I've ever tried) you'll thank me later. Did not know this place existed, till last week. I read some Yelp reviews and they were right Inside the place is open , clean nothing fancy. The food was great ,a nice amount of choices not too crazy but good. I had chicken cream chop bowl $5.99 reasonable , which tasted Awesome,over bulgar wheat ,veggies and topped it with garlic sauce. I absolutely love Chickpea. One of my coworkers introduced me, and it's now one of my favorite lunch spots. I hold a fattoush salad in high regards, and have high expectations because I grew up in Dearborn. The fattoush salad here is fabulous, and the chicken added is the perfect addition of protein. It's always fresh and flavorful, and it's consistent. I always know it's going to be good when I come here, and I really appreciate that. The prices are reasonable, and you're in and out with your food in under 5 minutes every time. The portions are perfect for me personally; I'm never left feeling hungry. Restaurant and bathroom are clean. Food is AMAZING. Cilantro jalapeño hummus is addictive. I have been in everyday this week and have not had one bad thing. This place was exactly what I was looking for. A fast/healthy/flavorful lunch!! Loved the concept. Kind of like a Middle Eastern Chipotle Grill. I ordered the shawarma bowl. Had them add all the veggies and roasted red pepper hummus. It was excellent! Also had a bowl of lentil soup..very good as well. Why would anyone go to Burger King of Wendys when for a buck or two more you can have a healthy meal like this? Just wish this was on my side of town. I found this little slice of heaven on yelp a few weeks ago. I work right around the block and my co-workers and I are always looking for new places to try around the work place. We got chick pea kitchen delivered and our minds were blown. I'm Lebanese and I know what good middle eastern food is. This was by far the BEST middle eastern food I have ever had. (Besides my aunts middle eastern cooking of course) not only was the food phenomenal, but It was so cheap and the owner and his co-workers are very friendly. We all ordered our own bowls and the owner even through in a ton of different hummus' to try at no charge and even did a follow up call to see how we liked it. I was very impressed. Something I love is that they make their pitas/bowls/all food super clean and layer all the toppings just right, unlike a lot of other similar-concept places. Food is always fresh and the service is awesome. They have a super fast, efficient and friendly food line even when it's really busy you can get in and out really quick! OK.. what is the deal here? This place has got 150+ reviews with an average of 5 stars. It does not seem legit since the place opened up not too long ago. So this place is considered to be a mediterranean style chipotle and very family-business like. The amount of food you get price is actually pretty good. But something about the food doesn't make my taste buds go WOW. Mediterranean food is supposed to have that kick and this place lacks that in many ways. The food is just kind of bland to me for some reason. To the people that gave this place 5 stars, I feel you have not been exposed to many different cuisines and restaurants outside of your metropolitan area. I totally see why this place has five stars. Just stopped by here for dinner (based on Yelp rating and a quick menu glance) after an afternoon of window shopping at nearby Somerset Collection mall (aka super-fancy, swanky mall). It's a very tiny unassuming little place and we went an hour before close and there was only one other couple in there. My friend and I agreed that this place is the Chipotle of Mediterranean food and that we are totally okay with that. You can get pitas or bowls. I got a pita and it was only $5.25 because I got steak, other pitas like chicken were like $4.75 or something. I asked for fries in my pita instead of white or cracked wheat rice and it only took a few minutes for them to be ready - during which they were able to make my friend's chicken bowl. Although I got the classic hummus, they had really good cilantro hummus and roasted bell pepper that we tried and really liked as well. In addition to garlic, tahini, ranch and hot sauce, there were tons of fresh veggies with which to fill out pita and bowl. My friend got the crushed lentil soup which he said was thick good. All in all we both thoroughly enjoyed this place. I'm kinda sad they are in Sterling Heights cause I live in Ann Arbor and it's a bit of a drive but I'd definitely come back and eat here again.
