One of my favourite restaurants! The portions are massive, the food is delicious, and the service is always wonderful. I'm not vegan, but Chickpea makes me crave vegan dishes. We got the hummus plates, one with falafel and the other with lion's mane steak. Both were super flavourful and well seasoned. We also ordered the apex burger that's stuffed with "mozzarella", BBQ sauce, vegan bacon, and onion rings.

A vegan restaurant that really surprised me in the best way. I went with vegetarian friends and they loved it -- and so did I. The dishes have a nice Mediterranean spin on brunch, and everything we tried was fresh and flavorful. We ordered a variety to share, which I highly recommend since the portions are large and it lets you taste a bit of everything. The vibe is very relaxed and casual, perfect for an easy weekend meal. Their coffee is great, and the food has lots of interesting textures and flavors that I really appreciated.service was good too, tho can be slow when there's a lot of people.

Food is 100/10 Huge portions as well. I tried 2 tacos with cauliflower and they came with chickpea fries. Also had pita with the cauliflower + mushroom filling. Very tasty lots of sauce. Server was friendly and fast to take our order and check that we had everything we need. It wasn't too busy when we went. They have patio seating and decent space inside. Also have a rotating list of beer on tap and some nice looking mocktails as well.

I was on Main Street with a friend. We were looking for a vegetarian restaurant, and after looking at few places, decided to eat at Chickpea. I've eaten at the food truck before, but this was my first time at the restaurant. Nothing too remarkable about the space. I ended up trying two things: - Chickpea Fries: Good. Crispy, bordering on a bit too hard, but tasty. - Calamachick Burrito: Good. Tempura oyster mushrooms were really good, and packed tight into the burrito. It was big enough that I decided to only eat half and kept the other half for another meal. Service on the other hand was not great. We were there at around 2:30pm, so maybe between the busy meal times, but I got the feeling the servers just didn't want to be there. It wasn't busy at that time of day, but the servers made no effort to be friendly or attentive. So overall, the food was good, but the service wasn't. Given my experience, I would've preferred just going to the food truck.

    Platter with crispy chik'n

I'm not usually one to leave Yelp reviews but the fact that this one doesn't have a higher average rating is a crime. The food was amazing, portions large, prices reasonable, and service was attentive and generous. The crispy chik'n was one of the most convincing and delicious vegan alternatives I've had at any restaurant. The labneh was also delicious. Highly recommend this spot!

Brunch set for 2 people was very good.

For vegan food, the brunch set for two people was very good. Food items were flavorful, and portion size was generous. I especially enjoyed the scrambled tofu. The omelet had vegan cheese in it, but it was too sticky and salty. The texture was unpleasant. The blueberry pancake with jam was tasty and very filling. The salad was excellent. The vegan bacon tasted artificial, but I kind of expected that. The home fries were crispy. I enjoyed the casual cottage-like ambiance.

"Chick steak" platter with the Saba Special.

The fries are made of chickpeas. And they are incredible. So is the variety of the vegan menu. I went for a platter with the "chick steak" as my protein. I don't know how they did it, but it smelled like steak and almost tasted like it - it had the colour, the texture, and seasonings - and it was wonderful. The platter also came with salad, hummus, and pita. The portion was too huge to finish. I washed it down with a Saba Special, which was a slush of hibiscus lemonade mixed with ginger beer. It made my mouth tingle. Service was friendly and helpful, and the place has major artsy vibes.

Hearty plates loaded with plenty of delicious food, Chickpea is one of the best vegan restaurants I've ever been to. This restaurant was recommended to me by non-vegan friends so you know it's good because it makes even meat-eaters excited to come back. The interior of the restaurant has a cute rustic vibe. It could be crowded if busy, and the food takes some time, but judging from the food alone I would definitely order here multiple times. The menu is full of new food names as I am not familiar with a lot of the mediterranean dishes. However, the menu is pretty straightforward and has cute images to help you decide what you want. The chickpea steak tasted like well done meat while still being chewy and while the poached egg didn't necessarily taste like egg, it's delicious in its own way. The egg completely won me over because it had great presentation on imitating a runny egg when I cut into it.

Chickpea is a vegan/vegetarian restaurant located on Main Street. They have an outdoor patio which is perfect for the summer and a variety of cocktails and summer drinks. Their service was pretty good - fast and friendly. For drinks we got their non-alcohoic pina colada, it was really good! Exactly what you expect from a pina colada. For appetizers I got their chickpea fries which were delicious! It came with a sweet and spicy sauce which was delicious. The fries itself were not super crispy but they were thick and flavourful. The fries were also gluten-free. For mains, they have you choose a style and then choose a main. So for the style I went with their rice bowl with shawarma at the main. The quantity of the food was HUGE!! Definitely bang for your buck. The shawarma was also gluten-free and were made of soy curls, sautéed onions, curry, sumac & coriander. For someone who is not vegan, this was pretty good. It didn't taste the same but the flavours were really good. My friend got the falafel platter which was really good as well! I would definitely go back to try their burgers next time :)

Two hummus plates, each come with salad and pita. Entree served on hummus.

Huge portions, wonderful flavor, fun vegan and gluten free options, overall 12/10 would recommend For the average person (the hummus plate option at least) = 2 meals easily. The hummus itself is perfection, and for the "cauliflower of life" main entree note it is a whole heckin cauliflower!!! Side salads are super flavorful too, could've had 20. Big yum. Fairy baklava was good, small portion, I wouldn't believe it was vegan ice cream if you told me!!! Inside was super cozy, fun decor makes you feel like you're in a mildly psychedelic nature scene so we felt right at home. Staff was super personable too and there wasn't a wait (lots of seating). Drinks had heavy pours too which was nice!

The food here was amazing! I was blown away at how realistic the vegan poached egg was. When you cut it open, the "yolk" comes out like a real egg... definitely didn't expect that and it was a pleasant surprise. Portions were large but it was a bit pricey. Taste was definitely there though. It was very busy, hard to flag the servers down, but they were very friendly. Hoping to be back soon to enjoy their hafla (which looks insane)! One thing they can improve on is the Turkish coffee. I stirred mine and ended up drinking some of the coffee grounds at the bottom of the cup...

I have been to chickpea many times. I have seen it expanding and that is just because of the yummy ,fresh, super gorgeous vegan food. And the quantity of food is huge that small appetite people can make two meals out of one. I love how the fries are cubes and not long strips. Vegan meat in any of the dishes goes so well that you want to keep eating. My puff pastry was so crunchy and good mix of veggies. Please try some of their cocktails as the herbs and garnishing is so unique to each drink. The vibe is chilled and at busy hours, it does get crowded and loud but most of the times it's quite and easy. My favourite part is the beautiful and inclusive environment of the whole place. So welcoming and warm.

Definitely try to go at opening or when it is not busy, as the dine-in experience is memorable - they place your order in a long wooden board to make it a beautiful spread. We got the Manoush'eh Special which has ground beef, pomegranate, etc and Sham Style which is shaped like a boat. We also tried the yogurt drink which pairs well with the dishes. The only con is that this place does not have free water, but it is no problem to have our own water bottles supplementing the meal. We also got the lentil soup which is pretty good. Definitely sufficient to share one to try, but the Manoush'eh outshines the rest of the items. I loved the quality and texture of the Manoush'eh and just the breads in general. It is a lot of food for 2 people so if you want a snack, you can definitely just share 1. Some people go here for the wraps too. Overall, an affordable restaurant with good food. We got the most expensive items and it was less than 50 CAD all-in, but a lot of the items are around the 10 CAD mark.

On a real whim moment - a friend I was going into town with was carrying on past this joint & said - hey you have to try this Doner - it's good. Oh why not - I said. I popped in & walked around checking out the setup & noticed the freshness & cleanliness right away. I like the decor as well - neat high tables & wood finishing. DS is still a baby - having just opened up 3 months ago. I met the boss & we chatted up a storm. He's a cool guy who's been in Vancouver for over 10 years - originally from Turkey! Ok - you had me at Turkey!!! He recommended the chicken Doner & wow oh wow did this taste of heaven go down or what. The tender halal chicken & Tabouli salad & ingredients as well as added sauces including hot sauce - Mama Mia!!! Heads up for anyone popping in over the next few weeks - the boss has plans for Kebabs & is strategizing how to work in a new grill etc etc. He's real excited about this venture & said I have to come back at the end of February when he hopes to have completed setting up. Sounds awesome - I will definitely be going back! Oh make sure that when you go to DS - show boss the picture of my Doner & tell him to grill it exactly like in the pic!!! You won't be disappointed!

The chicken doner was one of the best I had so far. It was flavorful on its own, with a slight crisp on the edges of the meat. It was not dry and was just right. I got to try several of the sauces and my favorite would be the garlic tzatziki and the cilantro. I didn't really like the doner sauce which was essentially ketchup, mayo and mustard. It was too rich for me. It is a self serve place, where you place the order and then wait to pick up the food. Feta cheese was extra cost which was not stated up front when the staff asked if I want it. That is a bit sneaky I feel.
