Very very Plain "French Toast". Overcooked and yet weirdly chewy bacon.

I usually love small town diners. This was not the case at Chick's. The French bread was just bread cooked in eggs (as far as I could tell). No seasoning or anything. The bacon was chewy and overcooked at the same time. Just not pleasant. Husband ordered breakfast sandwich (not on the menu). He said it was o.k. But that was about it. He got hash browns, which was smashed up has brown patties. No seasoning. The diner is very cramped inside, there's some cute touches inside but that's about the only redeeming quality. We told the cashier that the food was terrible, so she took some of the bill off. We still paid over $30 for a breakfast sandwich, 2 drinks, and some inedible food.

Completely tired of the pretense of the wealthy big city transplants taking over Heber City in recent years with their multi-million dollar homes, designer clothes, and fancy foreign cars, the old Heber vibe of Chick's spoke to me deeply tonight. The authentic comfort food, kind and genuine staff, and even the old wood paneling on the walls made me feel at home in a town that hasn't felt like home in quite a while. The food was great - I mean what not to like about Chicken Fried Steak and a deep fried scone smothered in butter and honey? Chick's might just become my escape - a portal back to a bygone era.

This cute local cafe on main street of heber city is perfect for post camping or lake day! It can get busy but it's worth the wait for the homemade scones! it's pretty affordable and who doesn't love a hometown cafe!

Very good lunch. Had the hot hamburger. Red mashed potatoes with brown gravy. So so good! Our server was really good. And they all share in keeping water glasses and coffee filled. The ambiance is very busy and casual.

3 star food, 3 star service, 3 star prices. You get what you pay for at Chick's. The carbs are heavy and the attention to detail is light. It's as casual as it gets. If you come in regularly, they will greet you with a welcome and point you to "any chair you would like." If you are new, they will greet you with a welcome and point you to "any chair you would like." Omelette was decently prepared but I could not understand the hash brown potatoes. I think they started out as a patty and then chopped up on the grill. As I ate at the counter, I saw the neighboring patrons leave most of the potato on their plate. Fortunately, I upgraded to the pancake instead of toast or scone. That pancake was sizable and delicious. Perfectly filled the void left by the potatoes. Staff was friendly but inattentive. Coffee mug was empty more than it was full. The server assigned to my seat walked past an empty mug 4 times till I shook the ice in my water cup for attention. If she walked past me 1 more time I was just going to go refill the coffee myself. You get what you pay for. The omelette pictured was $12.

We ordered the rainbow trout, with gravy and potatoes. It was the worst food ever. The fish had a smell. Even with that, I tasted it. It was overcooked and had no seasoning. The gravy I can not explain thick and wried tasting, but if you moved it out the way, the potatoes were the best thing on the plate. The clam chowder was okay. I'm not sure why the fry bread is called a scone. The Cafe was very clean and inviting. Our Server was great. She made us feel welcome. Thank you for your great customer service.

I was totally surprised by this meal! From the outside it's easy not to expect much; but as soon as we entered we were warmly greeted and told to "find a table in the back". The dining room was packed, which is a great sign for a place like this, especially 80+ years into its history! The server was busy, but kind. The food took a while to come out but was worth the wait! Crispy and crunchy and fresh in all the right ways; chicks cafe delivered exactly the experience you want on a summer weekend morning and I'll be back!

The motto of this diner is "Where people eat by choice, not by chance." This may be true for the locals, being that Heber has few food options, but more likely for its nostalgia and familiarity. For everyone else, though, I think the reverse is true. Passers through eat here by chance, not by choice. Chick's is more of a "something to put in your belly" eatery than a destination dining experience. The menu is simple and limited, the ingredients are cheap and not fresh, and if it's not fried, it's greasy. In typical diner fashion, most of the surfaces were sticky, the coffee is weak and served with half and half in sealed plastic cups, and the attitude is very casual. The service gets the job done, but not with a lot of enthusiasm or thoroughness. I imagine if you are from Heber, it's a more pleasant experience to come in and chat with the people you know that work here. I came in on a Sunday afternoon when it wasn't too busy, the service was quick and the food was hot. I ordered the halibut strips, which came with a salad, a side of fries, and a scone. The salad was mostly comprised of large chucks of old iceberg lettuce, it was dry and slightly wilted, topped with low quality mild shredded cheddar from a bag, and some (much appreciated) cherry tomatoes on the side. The halibut strips were served hot with fresh lemon wedges, but the three strips I got were small for the price, dry, and overcooked. The fries, however, were excellent. They were crispy, possibly beer battered; very tasty. The scone was a Utah/Idaho scone - fried dough rather than the flaky biscuit you'd find in a bakery. This one was delicious, served hot out of the fryer with a pad of foamy melted butter that soaked down through the middle. Overall, I wasn't too satisfied. I came in hungry and left with a stomachache. The few things Chick's did well happened to come out of a deep fryer, which I don't consider to be the mark of fantastic food. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're in the market for lots of bland fried carbs.

I love this place. The Scones are awesome. The service is great. Cute little Cafe that has the small town feel and comfort food that just makes you feel good !

I was hungry and stopped in for breakfast. It has that diner atmosphere that I totally love and very friendly people but the food is just gross. I ordered some scrambled eggs and hash browns and what I got was a plate of very yellow eggs that just didn't taste right and had the consistency of tofu. The hash browns were actually frozen hash brown patties fried and mashed up and served in a bowl. Although I was hungry I couldn't get past more than half of what was on my plate. I really want to like it here. The price was right but they need to step up in the food department. Maybe I'll try there for lunch and see if it's any better

I've been driving through Heber for years and for years I've seen this place. So finally we stopped. I was so sad to be this underwhelmed and bummed for that. We got the biscuits and gravy and the breakfast burrito. When the food came out the hash browns were just tater tots that had been cooked and crushed up. I guess some might like this but I just found it super weird. The service was fine and so was the decor.

Scone was very good and a must to try! Also, don't forget to add the honey it gives that extra

It surprised me to see that the rating for this place was low. I still do not understand why.... This place was excellent! Our server and service was top notch and couldn't have been any better! The food was very good and served warm. We were a party of 10 and were able to get seated right of way. I highly recommend the scone which was definitely not what I assumed it would be. It was very good and a must to order. Love the twist with the hash browns. Cinnamon roll was fresh and hot! I truly believe this place is a must for breakfast if your in town. Prices were reasonable and when I return I will definitely eat here again!

Clean table! Free table! We showed up at 11:00am and we're worried about a line.

They were not; they were actually 50% or more higher at the restaurant. The hamburger that was showing on Yelp for $15 was actually $22. The Steak Frites advertised for $22 were $35. I understand inflation, but this was a gross enough difference that it borders on deception, in my opinion. I also had a bad experience with my food: I ordered a cup of their chili (which they claim is made from scratch, on-site) and it was brought to the table cold. Like, "right out of a can" cold. Kelsi, our fantastic server, returned it to the kitchen where (I presume) they nuked it and brought it back. It was heated, but not very tasty. Flat; under-seasoned; mushy textured. Definitely something I'd never order again. Many reviews say the atmosphere is "loud" but what they mean is, it's "LOUD". We were seated inside, and it was nearly impossible for the three of us to converse. The acoustics are not great. Enough cons; how about some pros? My burger was FANTASTIC! piled high with caramelized onions and pastrami, but beef patty tasted like it'd just come off a charcoal grill. Terrific flavor in every bite. (The parmesan fries were tasty, too, but a little on the soggy side.) My dining partners each had a salad (one 'wedge' and one 'beetroot') and both were well-prepared and generously portioned. And, finally, the staff, the location, the vibe: All really first-rate. I'll probably come back, if I ever recover from the bait'n'switch sticker shock. (But I'll steer clear of the chili and opt to dine on the patio, if that's available!)
