Absolutely love the restaurant . The staff are courteous and they allow dogs outside in the back. The menu is fairly decent . The only thing I had a bad experience with was the AI reservation process . It told me they serve dinner from 1130 and found out they do not serve it till later on. Hopefully they get that fixed or go back to having people answer the phone. read more

You have to be careful selecting your dishes. Some are priced reasonably and some are not. I ordered the beet dip appetizer and was pleased with the portion size vs price. I then ordered the $11 portion of Sandra's salad. There was an $18 portion. I thought the portion I ordered would be a regular size salad similar to the portion served at Kneaders. To my surprise, it came on this tiny plate and was smaller than a side salad. I laughed at how small it was and was surprised the restaurant would charge so much for a half of palmful of lettuce with a little cheese. The portion size was seriously was about 5 bites. Their cost of goods (based on the lettuce you can buy from Costco) couldn't have been more than $0.20 cents. So I asked for a little more lettuce. Because I had previously asked for my dressing to be on the side, it was just lettuce. Our server brought another small portion and then charged me another $11!!!! So in the end, I paid $22 for a regular side salad portion. They should consider being a little more generous with their lettuce. I won't return and recommend you don't order their salads as a dinner entree. read more

Cute stop for a bite to eat while in Midway. We were 9 people (we split the teens away from the adults & it was nice & peaceful ). Service was great, & our waitress had a good sense of humor. Located on Main Street of Midway and the place is so cozy and rustic. Service was spectacular and so helpful with recommendations. The food was insane, my partner and I have moved this to the top of our list for favorite restaurant near SLC. He is a steak fanatic and rated their ribeye special as the best cooked medium rare he's ever had. The bacon wrapped dates are worth the drive alone. Every aspect of the dishes had so much flavor down to each side that came with the entrees. The chef came to each table and greeted as well! Yummy food, sunlit dining room with outdoor views and local beers on tap! There's also a nice patio in the back that I didn't notice until we were already seated. Our friendly server told us about the daily special and answered our questions about the menu. I enjoyed the rotating "early summer" pizza from the wood-fired oven, topped with ripe tomatoes and locally-made bison sausage, with a crisp but satisfyingly chewy thin crust. Midway mercantile is quant and cozy. I just wish the food was better. What we ordered Clams and mussels, this was the best thing we ordered, bread was delicious, broth was flavorful. Winter squash salad. Just okay, not much flavor or toppings Salmon tacos, again just okay, nothing special, no heat, and needed more seasoning Bison Meatloaf, we had high hopes, but it had a very strange flavor with mushroom butter sauce, which we are huge fans of butter and mushrooms, but this tasted off. Roasted dukkah salmon, the salmon was cooked well but a little overpowered by the dukkah, everything on the plate needed more seasoning, more salt, more pepper. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing, I'd like to come back and try other items on the menu, but not sure I can talk the husband into it. read more

Very cute restaurant down town Midway, we stopped by a a quick lunch on the way down from Sundance. The service was great, we made reservation so got seated promptly, they were very busy even during lunch hours. Reservation is recommended. The pizza was on a doughy side for us but we like the salad and I enjoyed my mussels and clams as it had a nice rich coconut and lemongrass flavors. Overall a nice stop over for a small town in the middle of nowhere. I am.glad we found it. Coming from California I may be a hard critics but I would imagine this restaurant is one of the better if not best out there. 3.5 stars for food 4 stars for service and ambience. read more

We made a reservation here for our anniversary, and noted that & that we wanted to sit outside on the reservation. Unfortunately, not being local, we didn't realize that they host wine or whiskey dinners. When we arrived we learned we couldn't sit outside, and were put at a table right near the entrance (which was different than their normal entrance due to some construction?). The whiskey dinner really altered our experience - people were constantly in and out, we heard staff repeating the same instructions over and over, staff seeming stressed from managing the crowd, all made it really hard to enjoy our dinner. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. My husband received the wrong entree and it took quite a while to get her back to report it - once we did though, the correct entree arrived super fast. Walking into this restaurant you could tell it was special. Attention to detail is an art that has been lost. At Midway Mercantile they have perfected it! From the menu, to the cocktail ingredients, and the execution of the food it was all impressive. I ordered the swordfish skewer app which was hands down the best swordfish I have ever had! Read that again the best swordfish I have eaten was in Midway, Utah! That alone is crazy sounding but facts! I have enjoyed swordfish since I was a kid growing up in San Diego and have eaten a lot of swordfish. I was very skeptical when ordering it but they absolutely nailed it! I also had the peach Caprese salad which the marriage of flavors was masterful. I was full already but couldn't stop eating so for dinner I ordered the trout. Again this was the best trout I have ever had. I sat at the bar the bartenders were both very knowledgeable and guided me through the menus and my decisions with perfection. Love this place, every bite is delicious and the space is homey. We went for Valentine's Day dinner and had the chef special steak cut. We both got medium rare and I will say the meat was definitely on the rare-er side and was a bit too bloody for my liking. On one visit the server reached out to his parents in Boston to get local recommendations for our upcoming vacation The food is consistently excellent with a great variety of both flavors and price. As a southerner, the shrimp and grits are terrific! We got them without the blackening. The greens were delicious, with a tang of vinegar. We had the hot fudge sundae for a birthday. I don't write bad reviews on restaurants, everyone has a bad day and I don't want to highlight someone's bad day. But this is not someone's bad day. The host here seemed to not like me and my group. I'm not sure why- but everyone in the group thought it was due to our race. We asked to be seated - 5 of us - and the host said the wait would be 30 minutes. It was a Wednesday afternoon. We could visibly see 2 empty 4 chair tables and there were 4 people seated at an 8 person table. But we asked if we could sit at the 4 person table and bring a chair over. He said no they were saved for reservations. We then asked if we could put our name down so we'll be seated when the next table is available. He said he doesn't do that, he suggested we leave and come back in 30 minutes and then IF there is a table available we can take that table. I was confused because he just mentioned the open tables are saved for reservations, isn't putting our name down the same as a reservation? It was pretty obvious this guy didn't want us to eat there and we weren't going to make a scene. Kind of disappointing but we had a great meal at LOLA'S STREET KITCHEN. He owned and operated a restaurant in the Seattle area for 17 years before moving to Midway. The ambiance was perfect. We did arrive early (5pm) got a seat right away. We are frequent visitors and have our favorites - halibut, salmon, Sandra's salad, seared tuna, and more. What I LOVE is the dishes that complement the season. Last night's dining included the peach and tomato caprese. Unique and fabulous! My salmon had peach sauce, another nod to the season and sooo good! The ambiance was pretty cool. We were taken to a patio area with temporary enclosures. There were space heaters that kept the space cozy. We were lucky to be seated right away on a Friday night. I order the shrimp and grits. They were extremely flavorful. They had just enough spice to enjoy, but not too much. There were plenty of shrimp and they were each pretty large. Even the greens in the dish were tasty. Highly recommend for a taste of southern cuisine. My wife ordered the sea bass. She was excited as she normally enjoys it. However, this time it was pretty bland in flavor. She loved the steak and everything she had last time, so we're keeping the 5 star rating. But skip the sea bass if you enjoy flavor. read more

The restaurant is beautiful, service is attentive and personable, cocktails were made perfectly and went down easy, and the food was pretty great too. We shared a couple of appetizers (the famous bacon wrapped dates and a special vegetable app as well) amongst our group of four. I went with the seabass entree, which I was happy with. Others at the table had a crab cake pasta special (also a hit), and a steak and pork entree. The pork was the only thing that didn't go over so well. Midway Mercantile was absolutely worth the drive from Deer Valley--honestly, it exceeded our expectations and ended up being better than any restaurant we tried in Park City. The food was outstanding from start to finish. We ordered the Wagyu steak special, hot honey pizza, and lamb chops, and every single dish was phenomenal. What really made the night special was the service. Les, the chef, came by our table multiple times to check in and chat with us, which made the experience feel so personal and welcoming. DJ, our waiter, was also fantastic--attentive, friendly, and made great recommendations. This is the kind of place that turns a good dinner into a memorable experience. Decided on Midway Mercantile for a special birthday dinner with friends. Thought the restaurant would be promising as the ambiance really was great. However we quickly realized there weren't a ton of great options on the menu. And when that happens? Rule of thumb is to always order the burger! While the burger was great, the rest of the dishes felt thrown together and not in a good way. Specialty pizza was no good, the orange chicken with lavender rice was a good second choice until we noticed the chicken was a thigh! Kinda random. I wish the servers were more engaging as we were celebrating a birthday. Refills took a long time and they just weren't attentive. Cakeage $25, they offered to cut the cake which was nice! What I found interesting is that they cut the cake in the back and brought out slices of it, did we have left over cake? Unknown. read more

Went there for lunch a few weeks ago. We split a pizza but it took 20 minutes to arrive. Also, it wasn't completely cooked. It was tasty but not fully baked. We've been coming to the Merc for 6 years every time we see out in PC and now we have a place in Hideout. John is a great host and cares about his customers. Great consistent menu with a few rotating/new dishes (ie peach accents during season). Oyster selection is strong. Tons of Gluten Free options. All food from scratch is except the GF Chick Chacks which we are addicted to for my celiac daughter. Most ingredients are from within 5 miles it seems (local meats, cheeses, fruit, produce, herbs, etc). Pretty consistent server staff. Pricing has certainly increased like everywhere else, but we still feel it is fair. At the risk of driving too much demand, I strongly recommend. read more
