We had drinks before dinner at Jack Rabbit here and wish we had eaten here too. Best cocktails at Okana.

It's not especially large in terms of seating available, but it does have a pretty fair selection of whiskeys and other spirits for cocktails and mixed drinks. The seating they do have is very lounge-y, with comfortable armchairs and couches surrounding a series of low tables, and some stool seating at the bar. The staff have always been friendly, and the decor is definitely rural/western themed. Some plusses: Because it's in the hotel lobby, there's a ton more seating in the lobby area itself, which is very comfortable. Not only that, there's several restaurants located within the hotel, including The Tap House and Bob's Steak and Chop House ($$$$). Both are fantastic. So if you're meeting up for dinner with friends, you can loosen up with a drink at the Basin Bar first. Or after. Or whatever! Also, down the hall is a coffee shop and a small gift shop. The only real minus: their prices. You expect to pay a little higher at a bar/lounge for drinks, but this one struck me as steeper than normal. A Tom Collins (which was on the weak side) and an IPA cost $30 before the tip. The next night I stopped in for a couple of standard sized cans of IPA, and was charged $20, again before the tip. PRO TIP FOR MANAGEMENT: Less is more. Charge less, you'll have more customers and they'll spend more.

Humidor: It's small, but everything in stock is top shelf. Well stocked also. Staff is very helpful in finding what you're looking for and making recommendations. 10% off for military, vets, and first responders (cigars only). You can smoke on site, which is getting rare these days. Bar & staff: Nothing short of outstanding. Friendly, chatty (if you want that) and make the best Old Fashioned I've ever had. 3 different bartenders, 3 old fashioneds, all amazing. I told them they need to have a "mix off" for bragging rights. They're considering it. If Old Fashioned isn't for you, very wide selection of top shelf liquor, wine, and beer. Wanna play "Stump the Bartender"? I dare you. They'll know how to make it. Atmosphere: Lots of locals and a few visitors like me. Very welcoming. Told me a lot about the city and made me feel welcome. Definitely not a snooty "you're not from here," vibe. They welcomed me as one of their own. Not a sports bar, per se, but the games were on the one TV, which is fine with me. No kitchen on site. If you need food before your liquor, eat beforehand. Bottom line: My go to place in OKC. Should be yours also. Miss y'all already. Hope to be back soon.

I was delighted to find out that our hotel was only 2 miles from this highly acclaimed restaurant. Upon entering, I immediately felt the welcoming atmosphere. We were warmly greeted by the host. The inside is lovely, modern and well laid out. It's perfect for date night or hanging with friends. The host chatted with us, explained the restaurant concept, and answered all my questions. We got the Baked Chèvre for our appetizer. It was layered with flavor and a most delicious and perfect bite for a cold evening. My entree was the Rainbow Trout. The fish had crispy skin and was moist, flaky, and well seasoned. The broad bean mixture served with it was equally delicious. The hubby had Honey Roasted Lavender Chicken which he declared to be one of the best chicken dishes he's ever had. He even raved over the vegetables that came with it. Of course I also had to try dessert. I loved my warm spice cake with a scoop of ice cream and swirls of buttery caramel rum sauce. The cake was so moist and paired perfectly with the sauce and ice cream. Our wait staff was friendly and professional. I forgot to jot down names so I could give them a shout out. Excellent staff is always a part of an excellent dining experience. This was just a delightful experience. The host even gave us the name of some nearby live music venues that we enjoyed later that evening. We will certainly return here the next time we are in OKC. If you are ever in the city, make a reservation and stop by for a fabulous experience.

We each started with a dirty Martini with Hendrick gin and a light touch of Vermouth. They were perfect. We then ordered the Charcuterie board. It was amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed it. It was delectable with a nice mix of cheeses, meats and vegetables. Turned out to be dinner. From a decor perspective, I love the mix of old and new. Located on the corner of Robinson and 26th St. in Capitol Hill, this place is a hidden treasure, so when I tell you don't walk, RUN to get here! They're open every day from 6 AM to 6 PM, making it the perfect morning pit stop. This isn't just a taqueria; it's a tortilla factory that supplies fresh tortillas to some of the most renowned restaurants in town. As soon as you step into this unassuming little slice of heaven, you're greeted by the rhythmic hum of the tortilla factory cranking out thousands of tortillas by hand. Watching someone stack and bag them at the end of the conveyor belt is a sight to behold. With over 27 years in business, they've mastered their craft, offering white corn, blue corn, and flour tortillas for tacos, plus larger flour ones perfect for burritos. The vibe was incredibly welcoming, and everyone was super friendly. The gentleman who took my order and cooked my tacos (I didn't catch his name, sadly) was a delight, as were the staff in the back making tortillas. They all looked and smiled warmly when I placed my order. Unfortunately, there's no place to sit down and eat inside, so everything is to-go, but that didn't dampen the experience. They offer a wide variety of drinks, including Jarritos, Boing!, canned and bottled sodas and other drinks, which was a nice touch, and you can even buy containers full of their house salsa, chips, and other packaged goods straight from the factory. I went for four tacos; since barbacoa and carnitas are only served on Fridays and Saturdays, I chose two asada, one chicken, and one al pastor, plus rice and beans with a can of Diet Coke. The tacos arrived dressed with fresh cilantro and onion, accompanied by sides of green and red salsa that were bursting with flavor and just the right amount of spice. Pure perfection! I also grabbed some tortillas to take home for my own Taco Tuesday dinner, and I can't wait to use them. This is an absolute must-try for any taco enthusiast. You can call in to order, and I'm already planning to swing by for tacos and burritos for my next big gathering. Do yourself a favor and visit, your stomach will thank, this place is a gem!
