This place has extremely poor customer service--missed deadlines, sloppy workmanship, and unacceptable behavior from the staff. I brought in four pieces of clothing for alteration and dry cleaning on Friday, May 23. One of the items was a brand-new Reformation dress that cost over $200. It only needed a minor alteration to the elastic band on the puff sleeves. When I dropped it off, May assured me that their tailors are among the best and that their work is "immaculate." She promised the dress would be ready by Thursday, May 29, and even wrote that date down on the pick-up receipt. However, when I called on Wednesday (May 28) to check on the status, May said the dress wasn't ready yet but promised it would be done by Thursday (May 29). On Thursday afternoon, just before I planned to pick it up, I called again--only to be told it was still not ready. She brushed off my concerns and acted as if I was being unreasonable for following up. When I asked for a completion date, she said she didn't know and would contact me when it was ready. On Friday morning, I went to the store. Not only was the issue with the sleeve still not fixed, but the stitching that had been done was messy and unprofessional. When I pointed this out calmly, May became defensive and rude, accusing me of "overreacting" and insisting it was "no big deal." I refused to pay the $16 alteration fee for the damaged dress (though I paid in full for the other items). At that point, May began yelling and insulting me. She called me a "very bad person," "the worst customer," and accused me of making things up. She even told me to "shut up" and called me "bullshit." Before I left, she told me to never come back and that they would refuse to serve me in the future. According to her, I was only the second customer ever rejected for service. But after glancing at other reviews, that claim doesn't seem to hold up. Now I'm left with a poorly altered, possibly ruined dress and an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone. Avoid this place if you expect reliable service, quality work, or basic respect as a customer.

On my way home with a perfectly pressed shirt for the most difficult and painful day of my life.

Well, I dropped off a dress shirt to be pressed for my mom's memorial service tomorrow. I began looking for more cost-effective dry cleaners about 2 years ago? The owner is May, and she is awesome. I found CHIEF CLEANERS back when my health began to decline and my expenses suddenly hemorrhaged due to alternative treatments i opted to use in my battle against my stage 2.... so simple mathematics dictated a more frugal approach to cleaning my acquisitions from back before the pandemic and cancer and lockdown. I met May, and we chatted and discovered that her sister had been battling cancer and subsequently had been through so much, and May was amazed by what I was bearing up against, too. I dropped off a dozen shirts and a couple of wool trousers, and then I got sick and went to the hospital and came home and was recovering for quite a while. I neglected to remember I had dropped off items already at CHIEF'S and was completely oblivious about what had been waiting for me. Then factor in a fall and a torn stitch or an irritated staple and dehydration and a pretty bad cold. Needless to say, time had flown by. I found a recipe in my messenger bag from CHIEF'S, and I was shocked and a bit embarrassed. I phoned in and MAY answered and informed me that it had been over a year and a half. OMG, I went in and picked up my cleaning, and it was all there. I thanked her for keeping my items safe and secure and MAY asked how I had been. I shared a bit of what I had dealt with, and she had a similar experience that her sister had gone through. She handed me my things and stressed for me to keep safe. To take care of myself. May is so very kind! And deserves to be celebrated. She does good work and values her customers' possessions. I'd like for CHIEF'S cleaners to become YELP famous! Let's have May's business become flooded with customers and overwhelmingly successful! She is pure awesomeness! And kind beyond belief! My wish is for CHIEF'S to become a DESTINATION cleaners! Come on, influencers, let's make CHIEF'S Instagram famous!

Big stain on back collar, like not washed.

I have think about to write this review for so long. I don't want to give bad review to hurt the business under current circumstances. But honestly every time I try to wear my shirt I feel so sad about it. I don't believe how can a professional dry cleaner can make this kind of mistake. See the pictures for detail. Two different button areas has been over bleach to white, and on the back collar has a big stain. I can accept if you tell me you cannot make it good when I drop the shirt, or just return my shirt. But I cannot accept you charge me on this kind of services. I didn't go back the store because my husband picked up my clothes. I just feel so sad about it. So want to show everybody the truth and be care full when you do dry clean here.

The crooked stitching I noticed that was in the breast area of my dress.

AVOID AT ALL COST. I'd give her -5 stars if possible because WHAT THE HELL is this work??? I literally cried on my way home from both embarrassment and just over all being so upset with how this dress looked in the end. The only reason I came here is because a friend of a friend's got her Chinese dress altered here and said they did a decent job at fixing her tea ceremony dress. This place did a horrible job at fixing my dress. The first time I brought my dress in, the lady (I think she's the owner), had me wait 20min for her to get to the shop-- no big deal cause' I just did a walk in. Then she started pinning my dress and commenting about my weight and my body saying how it'll be hard to fix it so she will have to charge me more. She didn't give me a price, but instead she asked me how much I was willing to pay. This was red flag number one. Good thing I brought my fiancé along so he instead did the price negotiating. She charged me $80 because she said she has to cut a lot of the fabric and sew it back on and then synch the waist and all these reasons. I agreed to it because I thought it was a fair price for what she was going to do. Gave me two weeks estimate and told me to come back. I come back two weeks later to pick up the dress-- I was expecting to try it on when I get there, but the lady who helped me literally just handed me the dress and told me to pay. I didn't know any better, so I went ahead and paid with my card and took the dress home to try it on. BIG MISTAKE. There was a very obvious fold in the front of my dress where they had stitched it in. I drove right back and told them to please redo it because it was so obvious. I was expecting them to argue with me because they did not acknowledge me at all when I went in and told them there was a problem with my dress. The owner told me to wait since there was a guy ahead of me, but fortunately enough, the guy was nice and told me I can go ahead in front of him since he was going to take a while. I showed her the VERY obvious fold from the stitching and she started to blame the fabric saying it was because it's double layer and that my body was difficult to work with. She also kept telling me to not gain anymore weight and repeated it over and OVER. I was embarrassed by this because she was saying it IN FRONT of other customers. She took the dress again and told me they will text me when it's ready and that was that. I get the text and told me the dress was ready and I went in right away. They stitched the dress even longer and the fold is still there. Not only that, I also noticed a very CROOKED stitching on my chest area. Again, she blamed the fabric. Blamed my body saying it's hard to fix the dress to my body-- which at this point I was getting sick of hearing because if you aren't able to do a good job for the service being requested, then don't accept the job at all. I told her that I will not be letting her touch my dress anymore. She already ruined it enough. I politely asked her to refund me half the amount I paid her because she did not do the job she promised to do so I can take it elsewhere or use the money to purchase a new dress. After several back and forth, she finally agreed to return me half the amount I originally paid for and told me to never come back and threatened that she will always remember me and will refuse service. I don't plan on ever coming back and if you can, please avoid this place at all cost! She will not take accountability for her tailor's mistake (no she does not do her own alterations, she outsources it to other people) and blame you for it.

Absolutely very rude! At first they are ok and then just after i keep on bringing back my Dry clean clothes and some dress for Alteration, OMG! Kid u not they charge really way to much! So i bought a dress for $10 and just to cut it a little bit shorter they want me to pay $20 for it. When i told them i won't have it repair they now got pissed and says she wasted her time. So to give a little consideration ( i still want to be a good person) i let them repair my other dress even if it cost $44! Just for repairing little bit in the side and back of the dress. And this time i was asking nicely if ever it still needs little adjustment can i bring it back. Now she tells me this ' we did it on our right way' we can't do it perfect' now that really pissed me off! Way to rude and very unprofessional. I won't be coming back here anymore. There's one small shop near GW supermarket which is way to much cheaper for alteration and a lot of other places to get my clothes dry clean. Don't waste your time coming to this shop.

    I enjoy the colors!

I've had this leather jacket for almost ten years, but in the past two three years, it's gotten a bit too tight. To be fair, I got it during the era of the shrunken leather jacket, iykyk. I brought it to Puac. They told me that they don't have the fabric for it, and gave me direction to this fabric store downtown. I thought, well, I'm in this for the plot, and went where they told me. This let me know that Puac knows exactly what to look for. The fabric store was great, and when I told them who sent me, they gave me a 15% discount off the leather. When I brought the leather in, there was a week and a half turn around. They measured it out, and gave me an idea of how it would fit. I would say that you do pay for the quality of their work. It cost me about a hundred dollars for the tailoring alone, which I thought was absolutely worth it. The leather was $68. This is a jacket that I will continue to wear for a very very long time. I know that this tailor shop can do generally alterations, but I would trust them with more complex alterations and trickier fabrics to work with.

We had two suit pants, one skirt and one stretchy pants. One of the suit pants needed a smaller waist band. The pants around the waist was loose but there were a lot of fabric making it look extremely oversized. So the entire pants needed to be cut down a couple sizes. The other pants just needed to be tailored at the ankle. The stretchy pants and the skirt also needed to be tailored to be shorter. When I gave her my pants and skirt, she noticed immediately that they're from Uniqlo without even looking at the tag. When I tried to ask Uniqlo to tailor my pants, they said their machine would ruin it. So I took it upon myself to use those cheap brothers sewing machine to hem up the pants. I clearly didn't do a good job and Han saw it and easily guessed that I used a portable brothers sewing machine. After getting them back, the pants fit perfectly and not loose at all. Han hemmed everything up really well and for a really affordable cost. We weren't in a rush to get them back but she did it in a week. She also had a lot of work to do from other clients, so for her to finish in a week was amazing. When you meet her, don't feel discouraged, she has a really monotone facial expression, but we chatted and she was friendly. If you need something done quick or small at an affordable price, would recommend seeing her.

So, I was searching on Yelp and came across this business. Shoutout to the previous Yelp reviewer who explained she also needed her bridesmaid dress altered on a Thursday and the wedding was on a Saturday. That's the same dilemma I was in. I called to confirm what the other Yelp reviewer said and sure enough the owner said she'd have it done the next day! I took it in on Thursday morning and she had it done by 5pm on Friday. So grateful she was so efficient! I paid approximately $40 (see photograph below). Han explained that because the dress was double layered it would cost a little more. I personally thought it was a lot, but when you're in a bind and don't want to drive far you pay. However, I spoke to the other bridesmaids who also had their dresses hemmed and they paid $50! The owner was not the friendliest upon arriving but once she warmed up to me she was super talkative and nice. I now know she has a son, lives in Alhambra, has been doing this for decades and likes to eat her lunch. She may come across as cold to others, but if you treat her with respect she will be super sweet. The dress itself came out perfect! I told her I needed three inches to be hemmed and she did just that. It legit looks and feels stunning. So happy with the end result.
