I thought I should write a review here since my experience was vastly different than those included below. We moved to a new house (which had been previously rented) and we wanted to re-key the locks. All of them were in fine condition and the front door had a "smart lock" which our home inspector told us should be much easier (and cheaper) to re-key. We were going to have lots and lots of contractors in our house and instead of spending the time researching and calling a bunch of locksmihts, I just purchased the 15 for 30 yelp deal and called Chikos Locksmith up. Our schedules were tight but he was very accommodating and said he could come between 8 and 10 on a Sunday morning - great! Sunday morning came and I hadn't heard from anyone but texted them to give them my husbands number since I would be out of the house and he would be the one there to receive them. They called about half an hour later (it is now already 830) to say they could get someone out at 11. But we already had plans to be gone and I was confused since I had confirmed for an appointment between 8 and 10. I told them we would not be interested since we had other plans but that I appreciated the call. He kept saying they would send someone, but finally I explained we simply wouldn't need the service any longer. I tried, to no avail, to refund the Yelp deal, and a few weeks later we still hadn't gotten our locks changed I thought I would give them another chance. I called, tried to explain that we needed "locks re-keyed only" and set up a time for someone to come out. They didn't give me an estimate on the phone or explain to me any type of service charge (although I assumed there would be one). No problems so far. The man called and asked if he could come before the window I had set up - not a problem, I was home. He showed up and asked "are the locks not working?" I explained (for the fourth time) that "no, locks are fine, we just need all of them re keyed". They quoted me nearly $500 to re-key the front and back locks on our house charging the same price for all of the locks without being able to explain to me how the smart key lock may be different/easier? To do so would have taken him only an hour or so of time. The gentleman was quite friendly but he just kept calling someone else (discussing for a few moments) and then would return and say that was the price. Well, that was much higher than what I had seen online and what friends had said theirs had cost had been so I said we would be not be needing their service and would simply figure out a cheaper way. He sort of mentioned a $29 service charge and I indicated I had purchased the $15 for $30 so seemed fair that we were even and I would mark the deal as used. I guess I have mixed feelings. The people I interacted with were all nice but nobody seemed to understand what I would need on the phone and were unable to give me an estimate (if they had told me $75/lock to re-key only on the phone I probably would have re-though a visit in the first place - and saved everyone's time). Then there was the earlier missed appointment. Just a frustrating experience, but not deserving of one star since they genuinely seemed friendly and earnest to help. read more

We just moved into our new house and wanted to update the locks for the four doors into our house and get them all on one key. Chiko did a great job figuring out an approach that would work given that many of the locks and doors are old (from the 60s). He worked efficiently and was great at coming up with some strategies to get everything updated well. read more

I had an extraordinary disappointing experience because: -Locksmith arrived 30 minutes late -Locksmith was extremely rude and disrespectful to my neighbor - so much so I physically had to step between them because he began shouting at her and made both of us feel physically unsafe -Locksmith stepped outside for a smoke break in the middle of doing his job and then stepped back inside to resume his work though he wrecked of cigarettes -When asked for electronic receipt, he became angry and frustrated. This scared me to the point where I stopped engaging in conversation so he would finish and leave because he made me feel unsafe and uncomfortable. I do not recommend this business and believe stronger vetting must be done to bring more even-tempered individuals to this work. read more

Chiko was great - my fiancé and I bought a house and Chiko came the next day (a Saturday!) in the morning to change the locks. He switched out all four locks, which had different mechanisms, so that they all use the same key. He spent some time lining up the locks as they are a little sticky. We also had an issue with our garage door - the track attached to the lock wouldn't fit in the hole made for it any more (movement over time). He took out his drill and made the hole bigger just the right amount - now the garage door locks great! All for a reasonable price. read more

I like Chiko. Knows exactly what he's doing. I hired him to replace an old doorknob and deadbolt with new deadbolt and handleset, and to drill and install a deadbolt on a door that did not have one. One of the new electronic deadbolts was defective but Chiko followed up with me to make sure I got the issue addressed. read more

Wow! Chiko's answered my phone call right away and got me a quote to unlock my car within 10 minutes. They sent Itamar Greddy to my rescue STRAIGHT AWAY and he arrived within 25 minutes!! He had my car open in under 5 minutes and he was a great example of amazing customer service. They are very reasonably priced and the whole process, from when I called till when my car was unlocked, took under an hour!! They are the best locksmiths I have ever used by far. read more

My experience was starkly different than the reviews below. I locked my keys and phone in the car. Luckily I had a 4 hour window for a meeting so I was not in a pinch. I called giving them this information and the kind lady on the phone told me it would be $100. When my locksmith did arrive, he unlocked my door which now makes a squealing noise when I open it and gave me my receipt. $225. He claimed to have given me that estimate over the phone. He did not. That is the same price I have paid to get a new key made for my car!! Disappointed but grateful to have gotten my keys out. read more

We recently moved and two of the doors had key holes on both sides of the door so you couldn't lock the door from the inside without a key. We also had a carport shed with a lock and no key. I requested a quote from Chiko and not only was it lower than the other two I got, but he came out the same day and replaced and rekeyed all requested locks. He asked me pertinent questions to my situation, and even asked me to send him a picture of the lock! A few calls later, we had settled on a solution.
