I called Affordable Locksmiths and they were able to send a locksmith to my house in a twenty-minute time frame. In less than ten minutes they were able to get us back into the house. Our technician was quick, friendly and efficient. He wore gloves and a mask which made me feel a lot better about the whole situation. I am knocking off a star because it would have been very helpful to get some type of semblance of a quote before sending the locksmith over. Instead we were put on the spot and unable to price compare -- I think that even a photo exchange of the locks involved before sending something over would give us a better idea of what to expect...but it looks like this is the way most locksmiths do business right now. For future price references, in the future to unlock a deadbolt and standard lock it cost us $185. read more

Super friendly and efficient. They responded quickly to the request for a quote to rekey a front door lock for a new rental, within just a couple minutes. The quote for the rekeying was "starts at $29", which wasn't out of line with the other quotes we got. The locksmith was was able to come by just a couple hours later and took care of the rekeying in about 20 minutes or so, and he was quite friendly as well. The only things keeping me from giving a fourth star were: 1) that the locksmith was only able to give us two keys to new locks, so we then had to go to Home Depot to get a couple more copies made (not a huge deal, but a minor inconvenience), and 2) the final cost was ~$175 which was a lot higher than the original quote of "starts at $29". I know that the low initial amount/service fee and much larger actual charge is a thing all locksmiths do, and the ~$175 was about what I was expecting based on my research, but I still find it off-putting when a quote is off by a factor of about six. In a pinch I'd go to Affordable Locksmith again, but for a re-keying I'd find the time to do it myself. read more

Forgot my keys inside my home. Looked on yelp for recommendations and found this company. I unlocked the coupon and was able to receive a discount. Pretty good service. The way it works is, you call, put in the request, I imagine with the dispatch person. Someone calls you back to discuss pricing and confirm services. This is the grey area because depending upon labor and the type of lock, all of that determines the price. That part is so up in the air and that's the only reason I gave 3 stars rather than 4. And then the driver called to let me know he was 15 mins away. He arrived with his tools and was able to quickly open the door in less than 10 minutes. From me placing the call to finish, everything was resolved in about 1 hour. They accept debit/credit, or cash. Customer service was very neutral. I understand that the cost could be different depending on the situation, but it's always a red flag if they refuse to give you a rough estimate. He came and told me right away the cost is $$475!!!!! to drill the deadbolt. He got me there since it's late and weekend. I just paid and it took him less than 5 minutes to unlock. It is probably their business tactics to fool and lure desperate potential customers with "affordable" in their business name. Most customers are just one time customers, so they just don't care about how they are reviewed after service. Anyways, he was professional and got the job done. The quality of the work was decent, but don't let the name fool you, they are not "affordable". I lost my keys and I asked for an estimate over the phone, but they said they would not be able to say anything at all until they showed up. That should have been a red flag, but I agreed to meet anyway. When they showed up they said that it would cost $475 to drill out a deadbolt and replace it. Obviously, they had me at that point since it was late and dark and I agreed and paid. The next day, I called several other locksmiths who gave me prices of between $135 and $175 over the phone. The technician was very polite and professional. The company needs to rethink it's name and at least give rough estimates or worst case estimates over the phone - especially for common issues. read more

How much would it cost? - depends on the service, won't know until a locksmith gets there Ran and I communicated via yelp on the best time for the locksmith to come today. At 9:15am he called to let me know that a locksmith will be on his way. The locksmith called me when he was leaving. He called back at 950 to tell me he will be a few minutes late because of traffic which was completely fine because he communicated that with me upfront (really appreciated that). Anyways the locksmith showed up when he said he would and he changed our lock and provided us with two new keys all for $145 (which includes the $15 show up fee). current car for a car sale. I put the offer out on yelp, and this was who I got. Pros: 1- responded quickly 2- had to break safe- and did that within about 15 minutes after asking that they would have to break the lock to get in Cons: 1- PRICE! I had asked for a range- and they wouldn't give me one on the phone- but they also didn't give the base show-up fee- not feeling great about that. Initially upon arriving on site I was told something above $350, and then 'dropped' to $250. I think the technician realized I needed the papers in the safe. I was expecting the low $100s. After completing the transaction, he offered me 50% off next service.... um, right so it could be the typical price?!? Not impressed. I submitted an online estimate through another locksmith , and Yelp gives you the option to send it other vendors, which I did. The garage door knob had fallen off and we couldn't get into our garage from the house and vice versa. I had purchased a new door knob and deadbolt for the locksmith to install. Affordable Locksmiths called me quickly and Ashley gave me a quote of $15 trip fee and $35 labor for the first hour and that it would go up from there depending on how long it would take, e.g.,if the locksmith had to buy supplies, more complicated mechanism, etc. I specifically asked Ashley if it was $35/hour and she said yes, that was the hourly price, but that it could go up depending on how long it took to fix/install. I reviewed the other quotes that I received and Affordable Locksmiths came in as one of the lowest, had good recent reviews and had a Yelp deal, which I purchased for$15 for a $30 voucher. They could also come out the same day so I scheduled them to do the repair. The locksmith called me and told me that he would arrive between 1:30pm - 2:30pm, which he did. This is an updated review of which I deleted the negative comments because the vendor contacted me immediately to rectify the problems that occurred, which is a HUGE positive in my book. They claim is affordable but is not. They send me a rude , unprofessional person, who over charge me , left my carpet stained and didn't finish his work. When I called to ask to finish the work , instead of apologizing , he just kept giving me unreasonable excuses and at the end he just yell at me . They don't even have a supervisor, because the guy who told me at first that he was just the dispatcher, later told me that he was the supervisor, and he didn't resolved the problem, I am still waiting. I would give them zero stars, but YELP would not let me do that. My daughter in law got locked out of her car yesterday morning. It was 90 degrees outside and she had her 7mo old baby with her. She called this company because their add promised that they would show up quickly and charge $15. They showed up over an hour later, took two minutes to unlock her older model car, and charged $213!!!! The locksmith originally asked for $215, but she didn't have that much cash on her, so they in turn took every penny that she had. She complained to the locksmith at that time, and he told her to call the office. When she called the office, she was told there was nothing that she could do, because the invoice had already been paid. Then they blocked her number. These people are not quality locksmiths, they are not quality business people. They will rip you off and literally take every penny you have. Do not use them.
