Nearly two years ago, while researching daycares, I discovered Hope Day School. Initially, I had a…read morelist of several schools, which I narrowed down based on proximity, public reviews, and reported incidents. From the outset, something about the photos shared online and philosophies on Hope's website resonated with me. After touring many schools, Hope felt warm and inviting. The Executive Director and Assistant Director took the time to get to know our family and share their holistic approach and comprehensive curriculum, which includes nature, art, spirituality, nutrition, and open-ended play. Observing families dropping off their children gave me comfort as a first-time mom. My husband and I left with a strong, positive feeling. We applied to a few schools and ultimately chose Hope. It was the practical choice due to cost, availability, and location, but more importantly, it felt right.   A year later, our daughter still lights up when she arrives in the morning and eagerly reaches out to her teachers. She explores, learns, and socializes, and it's been a joy to watch her grow alongside the same group of children. The teachers are attentive and truly get to know each child individually. The chef prepares excellent meals, and I love seeing my daughter try a variety of healthy vegetables.   We have also enjoyed getting to know the other parents better. They had trouble following a feeding schedule resulting in issues. Any time we went to pick up there were screaming kids and no hint or urge from staff to comfort. Final straw was the 6th time they didn't feed our child a scheduled feed. Told me it was because they had spit up. Come to find out he had thrown up warrantying an outfit change but they didn't bother to communicate with either parent. Terrible staff and they don't care for the kids. Don't send your children here. Not worth any amount of money for a poorly run facility that can't provide the basic care for children.

I used to work for The Community School of the Park Cities, and I witnessed three Lead Teachers…read moremistreating the babies & toddlers every day. They leaned all their weight against the babies when washing their faces in the sink (which can injure their organs), lifted them by one arm (which can dislocate their shoulder), grabbed them aggressively, shoved food in their mouths aggressively, made them stay in their cribs for several hours, yelled at them for wanting to get up or for crying, swaddled them when that's against the law in daycare, and spent a lot of time texting & talking on their phones instead of watching the babies. The Lead Teacher in the Toddler Room was very impatient & squeezed their shoulders when they didn't obey, instead of using redirection. I explained these things to the director, but she said, "It's going to be a lot of work to replace those teachers." I later asked her what she was going to do about the incidents & she said her lawyer told her not to talk to me about it, so I reported the incidents to Child Care Licensing. They visited the school, but weren't able to do anything because I didn't have pictures or videos. I asked the director to install cameras, but she said no. Something must be done to bring awareness to the parents. Those lead teachers are still there & the director doesn't want to make the effort to replace them.

This is an update to my original review as of 5/16/2024…read more Miss Bloomingdale's continues to be such a great school for our youngest daughter. She is now 5, and in the Pre-K/Kindergarten program, and just loves all her teachers there. Miss Chere is clearly one of her favorites. And even though she is not in Miss Chere's class anymore, she always wants to make sure I take her to Miss Chere's classroom so she can say hi to her and give her a hug. But all the teachers continue to be great. And Miss Bloomingdale's as an institution is really an excellent value. For the combination of care, education and tuition rates...they are well worth it. And it's evident that they do the best they can to keep their tuition rates as reasonable as possible while still being able to provide a quality education and stay in business in this highly competitive environment. This is a locally-owned, family-run business that I'm proud to support, and I genuinely feel they have been overall a better fit for our family than other daycares/schools in the area that are most likely cookie cutter franchises -- and more expensive.

From day 1, the staff has shown a nervous and at times, an overprotective mother that this was the right place for our son. Little things such as walking into the building, and EVERY staff member that you encounter says good morning to your child and addresses him by name (yes, even people that are not/nor has been his teacher); it gives you a sense of family. Miss Bloomingdale's molds your child into a well-rounded individual. The focus on learning and development - 5 stars; athletics (swim, soccer and dance classes are offered ONSITE) - 5 stars. Learning good manners and respect - 5 stars!!! The teachers and staff - 5 stars. Had we not moved, my son would without a shadow of a doubt would still be there. In fact, I was more emotional and torn up about him leaving. Thank you Miss Bloomingdale's for the huge impact you've had on my family. Will forever be in our hearts!!!
