The facility is always clean and the staff is pleasant and accommodating. Their services are automated which makes it easier on me as a parent. You have the option of filling out intake forms from your phone before arrival as a well. They have iPads in the waiting area and are always playing the latest and greatest kid movies on their numerous screens. They even go as far as having screen above the service chairs and for kids that can be a bit finicky in the chair I'm sure this helps a great deal. The staff are always patient with my babies, more recently the kids had to get X-rays of their teeth and they're always so understanding of their inability to keep the guard in for the pictures. Going as far as to reassure them even when they're unable to get the X-rays needed. Thanks for helping me keep my kids mouths fresh guys :o).

I also mentioned that he is due to get a routine cleaning. Even after stressing the EMERGENCY part, the best they could offer was an appointment a week out. I ended up having to take him elsewhere to get the emergency addressed but we still came to this appointment thinking he would get the cleaning I also mentioned. We get there. Wait. Get taken to a room. Wait. She comes back and says there's paperwork for the cleaning. Why wasn't it given to me when we checked in? I brushed off that thought and go to the reception desk where I'm told they only scheduled him because I said it was an emergency and that we'd have to come back to get the cleaning. IN WHAT FUKKN WORLD WOULD ANYONE ALLOW THEIR CHILD TO SUFFER WITH TOOTHACHE PAIN FOR A FUKKN WEEK THO?!?! THE FACT THAT THAT WAS THE BEST THEY COULD OFFER TO AN EXISTING PATIENT IS BEYOND ME. This is why I wish they did confirmation calls or something because I could have cleared this up and found a different dentist for the cleaning if I knew my damn time would be wasted with them. But this is usually the case so I won't be taking my son back.

Many complain about the wait time, but most of that is not the fault of the practice. Previous appointments may run longer than expected (it's a kids' practice) and previous clients may not arrive on time, which can back up the entire day. We make it a point to go first thing in the morning. The most important thing for us was the comfort of our children. They love Dr. J, so much so that my oldest wants to visit her every time he has a loose tooth so she can remove it, rather than let me pull it. My youngest has special needs and she and her staff are excellent with him and do a great job minimizing his anxiety. I'm thankful for her, her staff and her practice!! Keep up the good work!!

We are leaving this practice after just a couple of visits…read more Our first visit was fine - we liked Dr Altman and the quality of the cleaning, X-rays, etc. seemed fine. However, we've been disappointed with the practice since then. Our son had a cavity and we had to wait a month for an appointment to get it filled. And he's now had two adult teeth come in behind his baby teeth, and needs another emergency appointment. But I've called repeatedly and can't even get him on the calendar. The receptionist promises talk to the doctor and call back, and doesn't. She also tells me that, even if we can get squeezed in for an evaluation, the next appointment available for a tooth extraction is not until June - three months from now! Kiddie Cavity Care is the only provider on this side of town who accepts my insurance - so I will going be paying out of pocket to go elsewhere. I am disappointed that this dentist accepted us as patients so recently (just a couple of months ago) when the practice clearly is overbooked and does not have the capacity to accommodate new patients. My neighbor has also just left this practice after being unable to get her kids' cavity filled within the next two months.

Why wait this long to start dental service? Covid. I first took him to dentist when he was 2. It was actually not bad, but then COVID hit and no dental appointment was to be made until the offices opened up. So that doesn't help. So I seek for a pediatric dentist and came across to this. On my child's first visit, he was restrained. There wasn't a relationship established first to build trust. Who will have to take care of the kid's fear of dentist? Us, the parents. Not this dentist. I was a little disappointed after reading about restraints should never happen on the first visit. I got an email from Dr. Weng explaining that she wanted to have 30-minute chat with the kid to establish a relationship. So I made an appointment with explaining to my kid the dentist just wanted to chat with him, there wouldn't be procedures done on his mouth. But apparently I was either miscommunicated or misunderstood so he was traumatized twice. After 2 visits, this dentist office recommended that we find someone else. In full disclosure, my kid does have some work needed done on his teeth so he's not exactly an easy patient, but I really think the restraints hurt him the most. Because with my dentist, he was pretty good. I'm not sure if it's the age, at 2 and at 4 or if the restraint made him to blacklist all dentists. 2 stars because they're easy to schedule an appointment and the staff there are friendly. They made us to feel welcomed. The minus of 3 stars because of restraints and referring us to find someone else (when they're pediatric specialists). Off to look for a new pediatric dentist.

I discovered Children's Choice Pediatric Dentist last year when I was on a search for Black-owned…read moredental offices in PG County. My daughter has attended Children's Choice a total of 3 times. Each time, it has been a pretty pleasant experience. We spent no longer than 3-5 minutes waiting to be taken back, if that, and my daughter never left with any tears. The dental hygienists were patient and understanding and met my daughter where she was at. She did not get any x-rays done her first time because she was afraid but the next time around, she was very brave and got the job done :). I like how bright and open the physical space is. I wish there was some kind of separation between the chairs, however, to give a little more privacy. It's probably not possible given the space, but it was a thought I had. I also love that the kiddos get a token and a special treat at the end of the visit... she looked forward to that the most. The only reason why I deducted a star is because one of the assistants at the front told me that they did accept my dental insurance when I spoke to her on the phone. I gave my new card at the next appointment (previously we were using medical insurance) but they still billed the old card I had on file. It turns out, they did not accept my insurance so they billed the old card I had on file (my medical insurance). Although it wasn't an expensive co-pay, I could have saved money by visiting a dental office that did in fact accept the insurance that we now had.

They told me they tried to call me twice but didn't leave a voice message, which doesn't make sense. Now they don't have any appointments for 2 more months. My suggestion would be to call their front office a week before and the day before so you don't have to do unnecessary coordinating for an appointment that isn't happening. Unfortunate this happened since this part of town doesn't have many other options for pediatrics dentists.
