Totally kids environment with cartoons and books and play station, rewards with toys afterward that attracted kids looking forward for the next visit.

Luckily, no damage was done and my daughters have been patients ever since. They are always kind, professional, and keep a tight knit shift. Doctors are well aware of different scenarios when it comes to youth and their jaw and teeth when growing. Don't have a complaint to say about them at all. Thankfully!!!! Might I add they also give prizes for no cavities and for being good during the appoint! Kids love prizes I definitely recommend this practice and location.

The rule of thumb at the first visit is to never restraint the child. It would traumatize them and instill fear of the dentist for a very long time. Read this: https://children1stdental.com/what-is-papoosing/ I had first taken my child to my dentist but they were not pediatric dentists and I was advised to take the kid to a pediatric dentist because they would know best how to provide care for the child, especially a 4 year old. Why wait this long to start dental service? Covid. I first took him to dentist when he was 2. It was actually not bad, but then COVID hit and no dental appointment was to be made until the offices opened up. So that doesn't help. So I seek for a pediatric dentist and came across to this. On my child's first visit, he was restrained. There wasn't a relationship established first to build trust. Who will have to take care of the kid's fear of dentist? Us, the parents. Not this dentist. I was a little disappointed after reading about restraints should never happen on the first visit. I got an email from Dr. Weng explaining that she wanted to have 30-minute chat with the kid to establish a relationship. So I made an appointment with explaining to my kid the dentist just wanted to chat with him, there wouldn't be procedures done on his mouth. But apparently I was either miscommunicated or misunderstood so he was traumatized twice. After 2 visits, this dentist office recommended that we find someone else. In full disclosure, my kid does have some work needed done on his teeth so he's not exactly an easy patient, but I really think the restraints hurt him the most. Because with my dentist, he was pretty good. I'm not sure if it's the age, at 2 and at 4 or if the restraint made him to blacklist all dentists. 2 stars because they're easy to schedule an appointment and the staff there are friendly. They made us to feel welcomed. The minus of 3 stars because of restraints and referring us to find someone else (when they're pediatric specialists). Off to look for a new pediatric dentist.

I scheduled my child's appointment back in October for a December 19th visit at 8:30 a.m. The appointment was confirmed multiple times through their automated text system, and I replied to confirm as requested. Then, just two days before the appointment and after business hours, I received a text stating they do not accept Kaiser insurance and that I needed to upload new insurance information by the next day or my appointment would be deleted. This office was listed as a provider on my insurance company's recommended provider list, which is why I selected them months ago. This issue should have been identified when the appointment was scheduled, not after nearly three months of waiting. When I responded immediately, I received only an automated after-hours reply. The next day, the only follow-up was a brief message saying they "never intended to cause inconvenience." There was no real explanation or solution offered. I later received a phone call that disconnected mid-conversation. I called back multiple times and was told someone would answer, but no one did. Shortly after that, I received a text stating that my appointment had been canceled. There was no proper phone call and no attempt to resolve the issue. Canceling a pediatric appointment two days before after months of waiting due to failure to verify insurance is unacceptable. Parents plan around work, school, and childcare. As someone who intentionally wanted to support a Black-owned business, this experience was especially disappointing. Unfortunately, the level of disorganization and lack of professionalism makes this office hard to recommend.

I discovered Children's Choice Pediatric Dentist last year when I was on a search for Black-owned…read moredental offices in PG County. My daughter has attended Children's Choice a total of 3 times. Each time, it has been a pretty pleasant experience. We spent no longer than 3-5 minutes waiting to be taken back, if that, and my daughter never left with any tears. The dental hygienists were patient and understanding and met my daughter where she was at. She did not get any x-rays done her first time because she was afraid but the next time around, she was very brave and got the job done :). I like how bright and open the physical space is. I wish there was some kind of separation between the chairs, however, to give a little more privacy. It's probably not possible given the space, but it was a thought I had. I also love that the kiddos get a token and a special treat at the end of the visit... she looked forward to that the most. The only reason why I deducted a star is because one of the assistants at the front told me that they did accept my dental insurance when I spoke to her on the phone. I gave my new card at the next appointment (previously we were using medical insurance) but they still billed the old card I had on file. It turns out, they did not accept my insurance so they billed the old card I had on file (my medical insurance). Although it wasn't an expensive co-pay, I could have saved money by visiting a dental office that did in fact accept the insurance that we now had.
