Decent food and nice accommodations. But the real asset is the staff. They are hilarious and funny. The banter alone is worth going in!

This is all you can eat, but not buffet style. Which I found intriguing. I heard about it through a…read morefriend. Whether you choose all you can eat or not, you order off the regular menu, and they bring it out fresh to order for one set price. You can share with other people at your table, if they also order all you can eat. Which was another plus for me. It is also, what we decided to do. Our approach was to try a little at a time, so we could try as much as possible. We both ordered different things, with the intent on sharing. I ordered 2 sushi rolls. One I wanted and one my BF asked me to order. He is relatively new to Sushi. He ordered Beef Teriyaki, with steak, rice and Zucchini. My BF said he did not like Zucchini. But he loved everything about this dish. Real steak, the Zucchini was cut thick, so it had a nice crunch to it. The sauce was out of this world. Very different from Beef Teriyaki I've had at other Japanese restaurants. Lots of flavor, not salt. I really liked the Sushi rolls I ordered, but my BF ended up only trying 2, before he decided he wanted to move on to other things. Leaving me to finish the Sushi myself. Which filled me up pretty good. When I go back, I am not going to oblige him with that courtesy again. Haha! Next time I will order one roll, so Im not too full to try more menu items. It's quite the menu. If you do not like Sushi, no worries, they have a wide variety of hot dishes and appetizers. They have a food waste policy, which I thought was a huge plus. A lot of items on the menu are small plate foods, so it shouldn't be a problem. BF received his food first, there was a bit of a wait for the sushi, I heard a lot of people ordering a lot of Sushi upfront. Which probably backed it up a bit. But it was not a problem. I just helped BF eat his steak dish. lol. You do not have to order everything at once. Staff walks around checking on you keeping a close eye out. You can order more items off the menu as you go. The Ambiance was also very nice.Very comfortable, perfect for date, family, or friend nights out. They also had some whimsy, which is nice. Their Uniforms, have a Yoda saying on it. Which is definitely fun to note. The food was fresh, and delicious. A great way to upscale "all you can eat" I will definitely be back. Usually I cannot eat enough to make all you can eat worth it. But I would do it again here. Our bill was reasonable. But If I knew exactly what I wanted and it was less expensive than all you can eat. I would also order off the menu. This is my new favorite Sushi Restaurant. They do serve alcohol. Wine, beer, and sake. The beers are mostly Japanese beers. Staff were super friendly, happy, and helpful. They will walk you through the process. They have real menus, and also a QR code menu. The only improvement I would recommend, is that once they take your initial order. It would be nice to be able to use the QR code to order more items, instead of waiting on staff. I think it would work great with their food waste policy. But that's just a friendly suggestion. When I do reviews, I do take pics of the ladies room, if no one is in there. I think it should be normalized. Theirs was impeccable. The entire establishment was super clean.

We were quoted about a 40-minute wait for a table, but told bar seating might open up sooner (around 30 minutes). They took my number and we stepped outside to take a walk around the block while we waited. We ended up getting a text about the bar seat availability in about 15 minutes. Once we got seated at the bar, things turned around quickly. The space has a really cozy, intimate vibe with dim lighting, warm atmosphere and overall it feels thoughtfully put together. We ordered hot toddies to drink, which were perfect for the weather, and for food we got the Japanese sweet potatoes and the cavolo nero pesto. Both dishes were incredibly delicious - flavorful and well-balanced. Just be prepared for a wait (and maybe stay nearby instead of wandering off), but once you're in, it's a great experience!

It's a small space inside but it's designed well enough to manage a flow of traffic for customers and staff. We sat in the back greenhouse area. I think the least enjoyable part of our experience was how loud it was in the restaurant. Definitely not a good spot if you're trying to catch up with someone and your voice doesn't carry. I couldn't actually hear the specials the server was telling us. I want to try out Vern's again, so I may wait until there's an outdoor table or ask to sit in the second level to see if that's quieter. We tried one of their spring menu appetizer items, the Japanese sweet potatoes with kimchi ranch and dill. One bite and I was addicted, these were so so good. We then moved on to the classics for entrees -- bee sting pizza and the ragu-- and we were amazed at how good everything was! The only note we had was about the pizza, it was very soggy in the middle but still edible if you rolled it over in itself. We also had a few cocktails, and while they were somewhat small, you could tell they weren't watered down in any way. Two drinks was more than enough for me. Overall it was a great experience and we want to try it again. If you're someone who struggles to enjoy a meal out where you can't hear much, maybe wait for outdoor tables.

What an excellent experience at this restaurant. We made reservations to celebrate our anniversary…read moreand without a doubt I made the perfect choice. Hearing how this restaurant Redd Wood shares the primary owner of Redd, Richard Reddington; I knew I wasn't not going to be disappointed since Redd is a favourite of mine. Starting off with a few appetizers, the deviled eggs were great. I can't say the caviar was necessary since we both didn't really taste it and the filling for the deviled eggs overpowered the texture and taste of the caviar, nevertheless we both enjoyed these. We also placed in an order for the tuna tartare. This came on sticky rice and had a primary flavour of sesame. The tuna was fresh, and it was a fantastic appetizer. The only disappointment we had with this dish is it states there is pear which we did not find throughout the dish nor taste. We saw they offered caprese which was done with burrata instead of fresh mozzarella which we found worked beautifully. Served with marinated tomatoes and a lovely balsamic vinaigrette, this was very refreshing. Now onto mains, I opted in the Prime NY Strip (14oz). This was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The steak itself was tender, juicy and seasoned perfectly. For a side, I opted in for the Pommes Aligot (potato purée & alpine cheese) and this accompanied my steak perfectly. I can confidently say that this is one of the best steaks I've ever had from any restaurant. We found our server, Scott to be a pleasure. He was professional, hospitable, and made our experience that much better. Overall, this first experience at Redd Wood easily made it on my personal list of top 5 restaurants in Rochester.

For the price, we were completely underwhelmed For starters, we ordered two different cocktails. The May queen was fabulous the bebbo was tasty, but you couldn't taste any gin in it We started with the Lyonnaise salad , smoked beets, Swedish meatballs, tuna tartare and chicken wings The salad was our favorite, the tuna lacked flavor and we detected no smokiness in the beets. The meatballs were light and the sauce flavorful, would've loved a few more June berries. Chicken wings were nicely spiced and no too saucy For the main we shared 2 steak frites- a bit more well done than the medium rare ordered but tender and tasty, fries are great- bordelaise sauce didn't have the depth of flavor I expected. For dessert we shared the lemon poppyseed cake and chocolate mouse. The cake was light and Lemony with a hint of poppyseed flavor. The mousse was very odd- super pale in color and the crunchy bits on top did not pair well with the texture of the mousse Service was attentive, sometimes a bit too much- reaching across the table to fill waters... maybe leave a bottle on the table? It was a completely male staff... Male servers, male, valets, male bartenders. We did wonder where the women were.

We ordered the panzanella salad, street corn, and a large, shareable ribeye with potatoes. Everything was superb--truly excellent. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere was romantic and low-key, and the entire experience was outstanding. They struck the perfect balance of making us feel celebrated without being over the top. For dessert, we had the funfetti cake, which was absolutely divine. I look forward to trying from the fall and winter menus as well. I'll definitely be trying a dessert next time. Their s'mores one and funfetti cake both sounded delicious. I was too full from the appetizers and dinner to attempt a third course.

Service was very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. For the AYCE, you can get almost every item on the menu by either ordering it via the tablet at the table or taking a plate you want off of the revolving belt that goes around the restaurant. My friend and I did a little bit of both. We tried a lot of items and definitely got our money's worth. My favorites were the scallion pancake with beef roll and mala soup dumplings. Everything was good, the only small complaint I have is that I love a very marinated smashed cucumber salad and the one I took off the belt seemed like it hadn't been seasoned and allowed to sit for very long, so it didn't have a strong flavor. Other than that, everything was very good and I'd return, although I'd probably do a la carte next time (simply because AYCE led me to eat too much!).

I was greeted by friendly staff and immediately shown to a table. Looking around, I found this restaurant to be smaller than what I had in mind, but nevertheless it was decorated nicely, and seemed clean. We were met by Jessie who gave us the run down how everything worked. Everything on the conveyor belt is part of the AYCE, and we're also able to place orders on the tablet which will be delivered either by server or by a secondary conveyor belt which is above the revolving one. The thing I really loved is the fact the sushi rolls on the conveyor belt were 3 - 4 pieces. A great way to try the roll if you're nervous about placing one in that would consist of 6-8 pieces. We were satisfied with the options for sushi rolls that made its way around. A few appetizers we also enjoyed were the cocktail shrimp and pickled daikon and carrots. Looking through the menu on the tablet, we placed in a handful of different dim sum and sushi. Some highlights for us were the shumai, shrimp dumplings, and tripe. Some appetizers from the tablet we enjoyed were the fried scallops and egg rolls. For sushi, we really enjoyed the white tuna tataki. The nigiri and sashimi were fair and pretty standard. Now onto why this is a 4-star vs a 5-star. I visited twice now, and it seems certain items are always sold out. Reading other reviews, it seems to be the norm. It makes me believe it's possible perhaps these items are always sold out or rarely offered at the restaurant. This is a disappointment considering we're paying full price for several items to not be offered. Egg tarts, roast pork pastries, even some sushi options were sold out such as salmon roe and surf clam. Overall, this is a nice restaurant, and we were treated with great hospitality from Jessie and we enjoyed the majority of the items offered here. We're hoping our next visit, there won't be so many sold out items.
