This restaurant has really improved since my last visit. Staffing levels are way up! The servers I've interacted with have been pleasant and frequently very friendly. Our meals have come out in a reasonable amount of time, at the same time. I've had no issues with the quality of the food served. Salads have fresh vegetables. Proteins are cooked to specifications. Also, the specialty drinks are enjoyable, even if they frequently seem rather small compared to other restaurants. I'm happy to be able to give them a new, positive review. read more

So I recently started dining at chilis because there really aren't that many affordable casual restaurants in this part of Austin and sometimes I want to spend 12$ or less on a margarita and just eat some classic American pub fare. This one is a special one since it's been on 45th and Lamar since I've been here which for me is excellent since I live less than 2 miles away from here. I've been seated at the bar which gets swamped making drinks but the bartender is very attentive and they check on you enough if you need to add to your order or order another drink. I would say the same for table service as well. I'm still a fan of their baby back ribs and a half rack is plenty and comes with fries avid Mac and cheese. Their burgers are also tasty and sizeable. Had to try the triple dipper and see what all the hype is about. Underwhelmed. The chipotle honey moz sticks were ok. Not as hot and the cheese as stringy as I expected. Prefer just the standard I guess. All the sauce on the outside took away the crispiness. The honey chipotle chicken tenders were mostly breading, not enough quality meat. And finally the burger sliders lacked freshness. It was just meat and onion. No lettuce or tomato etc. which I knew before ordering. This Chili's experience earned my business back. I hadn't been to a chilis in over a decade but had an insatiable craving for the honey chipotle chicken crispers and my husband for the baby back ribs. Eventually agreed to give chilis another chance, and they did not disappoint! We arrived for lunch Monday 3pm. The portion of fries was 4.5 ounces on my meal (I weighed it). I measured it because it looked so anemic. I called and they said the normal portion is not that much at only 6 Oz. That is tiny, the to go box didn't even have a thin layer across the bottom. The bottom of the tray was mostly visible. I just felt like for 20$ the Santa Fe burger should have more than 4.5 or even 6 oz of fries. Phenomenal experience here with great service and food! I've been to this location many times but hadn't been back in years. I was thoroughly impressed the entire night! Arrived on a weekend night during prime time for dinner, and we waited 0 minutes to be seated. Our waiter was with us shortly to get drink orders. Theoughout the entire night, he was extremely attentive even though it was really busy! Probably one of the most attentive waiters I've ever seen! Food was great! They were able to put all the sauces for the ancho salmon on the side. The salmon was cooked well, and the rice and broccoli was also tasty. I wish the broccoli was less salty, but it was still good. Chips and salsa were great too. They also gave us a bag of chips and salsa to go after asking for a take home box!! The noise level was average, and tables were clean. One of our favorite places to take dad. His dementia makes it hard to take him places he's not familiar with. The manager at this Chilis is incredible. Are you even from Austin if you haven't experienced the Chili's on 45th and Lamar? Reddit told us this was THE date night spot to go. We ordered a round of drinks, some fajitas, chicken crispers, a Southwest salad, and the dip trio. The fajitas are where it's at. These are consistently good regardless of which location I go to and these were no exception. The chicken crispers were our second favorite. A little dry, but still pretty solid with the dipping sauce. Unsurprisingly, the salad was definitely our least favorite. The lettuce had turned brown and wasn't super edible. The nachos were subpar, it didn't have many toppings on it and I was also promised queso as a replacement for the meat which I didn't get. The hot chicken crispers were too sweet and not hot.
