I'm surprised at the 2.5-star overall rating (on the day I'm writing this). I'm used to the Chili's in the D.C. area, where I live, that I find mostly mediocre. This Chili's in Culpepper is much better. I stopped by while traveling and the food and service were very good. I was greeted promptly and politely by the host (I think it might have been the manager), the server was polite, smiling, and attentive, but not intrusive. I saw staff working together and helping each other. The food was excellent. The restroom was clean. Other customers seemed to be having a good time. Hats off to management for setting an example for other Chili's on how one should be run. I'll make it a point to stop by again when in the area. For a casual dining restaurant, this was as good as it gets, so five stars. read more

We were expecting better. Ordered fajitas with chicken and shrimp. The food tasted fake. The tabletop game/pay device was very dirty along with our table. My Mother didn't even eat her food, they did remove it from our bill. Probably was my last time trying Chili's. read more

Brought our family of 6 here for an early Sunday dinner. We requested a booth and the host took at least 5 mins cleaning off a table (with a half empty restaurant) while we kept our 2 hungry kids occupied plus 2 infants in their carriers busy...We were seated and given 2 menus and our server arrived right after with 2 set of silverware (for our table of 6...with 4 eating). To say her serving personality was underwhelming to say the least. She barely smiled or looked at us and took our drink order. She came back with drinks and walked away. Finally waited for her to return and asked for straws and she pointed at the silverware under the menus and said they're there and immediately walked away again! This went on for the majority of the meal. She was disinterested. She didn't ask what she could get us. She brought an appetizer with only 2 plates. It was just a frustrating dining experience as she would drop off her items and would leave without us getting a chance to ask her to bring what we needed. I walk to the restroom with 1 infant & a toddler and she and 3 other servers are sitting in a booth eating...which I'm fine with...If you are taking care of your table and thinking ahead. No water refills. No napkins brought. Appetizer platter wasnt cleaned off table (which was completely empty) so I had to put it on the ledge above us. She wasn't rude..she just didn't seem to care. It was just disappointing as as we had driven 3 hrs and just wanted a good meal before going home. I gave this 3 stars because the food came out hot, no long wait times and simply really good. We had Cheese fries and fried pickles as an appetizer and they came out perfect and hot! We also ordered chicken fajitas and the chicken was grilled sooo tender and juicy, a smothered burrito which was cheesy and huge & a sirloin and kids pizza). But service is so so important. We are good tippers always well over 20%...we don't believe in not tipping but this was one of the 1st times I've ever thought about if I was a non tipper this would be a time I wouldn't! On 3 entrees 1 kids meal & 2 appetizers we tipped 15% and that was hard to do. Near the end of the meal she came and asked if we needed...As an afterthought...I was a server throughout college. Maybe she thought our family of 6 (2 being infants) wasn't worth looking after well. I hope this Chili's understands how service is as equally important to the food itself (especially to thus wife and mom of 4) and will be the main reason we wouldn't want to return. read more

Dined here on 10/9/16 service was good. Food lousy. My son got the 6" pepperoni pizza with fries. Pizza was from frozen... Hardly no sauce dough was like bread. Fries were ok. I got the dr. It is so funny that I was reading the reviews while sitting here and the tip that said to get the nachos and salsa because it will take forever for your food to come what prophetic. It's a chilies. Similar to the rest of the chain they have chain quality food and consistency. The restaurant is clean and the service is polite. The restaurant features a device that allows you to order and pay from the table. This helps to get you on your way if your just having a quick lunch. read more

Used to be good but now they our last choice if every other restaurant is too busy. The Service is average but the food just taste blah. They also don't know how to do hiring very well. I went to apply for a serving position and they guy came out talked to me for 30 seconds and that's it. Very crappy interview or maybe just laziness. I have 5 years experience in restaurants and 1 1/2 years of it was serving. It's ok 309 grill hired me on the spot and the owners are amazing!! Eaten here many, many times. Fav is bacon ranch quesadillas! Usually have quick & friendly service, except for once when my waitress was new & still in training...took half an hour to get our order & then 45 min later when it came out mine was wrong, so I had to wait another 20 minutes while everyone else ate, for my correct dish to arrive. Then, I had a free appetizer coupon that she forgot to subtract from the bill..she had to get the manager to figure it all out...i should've been comped for my messed up meal too! But that was just a one time thing, i love the apps, entrees, drinks & desserts. 4 words...chocolate molten lava cake! Culpeper Chili's is one of the best restaurants in town. There is a warm greeting at the door, preferred seating, if requested without a fuss and quick service. The servers always suggest an item from the menu, know the soups of the day and remember to ask if you would like dessert before leaving the check. When dining at Chili's in Culpeper, I feel as if I am the only patron and that I have the total attention of the staff. The management is always available and can be seen interacting with the customers and helping out with any thing that may need attention. The music is upbeat yet not too loud so that conversation may flow easily. The decor is satiable and pleasing to the eye. Great place to dine! read more

The service was good. At first when we walked in the door the girls that greeted us were a bit snooty but after we sat, she lightened up a bit. We arrived around 4pm on a saturday and the place was pretty much empty. few people here and there. I ordered the chicken bacon and ranch quesadilla which was amazing! My boyfriend ordered the ribs and it seemed to have bone sharps in the BBQ sauce. Not to pleasing when trying to enjoy your food. we also ordered the spinach and artichoke dip that was good too. The food took a bit longer to come out but we were ok with that, since we had an appetizer and like to enjoy our time. Oh and the water tasted like rusty pipes. Chili's is Chili's wherever you go...same food, same everything EXCEPT only the Culpeper Chili's has HERSCHEL!!!! He is by far the best server I have ever met at any restaurant. He is so personable, attentive, smart, funny, and exceptional at his job! My BEST friend and I just left and were laughing all the way home, still talking about this guy! So I came to this Chili's after a long day, hoping to relax and all that. Now, I come to this Chili's quite often, but this particular visit stands out. The waitress was nice enough, she asked for drinks, so I went with strawberry lemonade because I'm on a strict soda diet, whereas I would have gone with a crisp Dr Pepper. So about twenty minutes pass before she comes out with the drinks. Upon the first sip, this lemonade was pretty good, but as it went down, I noticed that all the "pulp" had settled to the bottom. It was gross. Anyway, that was no big deal, but then I ordered some nice chicken crispers because I consider myself a chicken connoisseur. After a while, a dude comes out and tries to give it to the wrong table. I'm an awkward person, so I don't get mad. He goes back to the kitchen for like 5 minutes before coming back out and giving it to me. This stuff looked disgusting. The chicken crispers usually actually look CRISPY. This stuff looked like someone took a dump in a deep fryer and threw it on a plate. I proceeded to take a bite because I'm not trying to be a Karen. This stuff was on par with McDonald's on a bad day. The "meat" was all mush. It was freaking mashed potatoes inside there. I didn't want to eat that. Then I ordered the cookie ice cream pan thing. They take like 30 minutes to get it out. And by then they had the AUDACITY to present it without ice cream. The waitress said that she was waiting for the cook people to get more, but they never did. I wasted like two hours in this Chili's. I have never been this dissatisfied with the service at this place. I don't plan to come back any time soon. read more

We called twice on the day we were planning to come in and they confirmed it both times. We arrived and they claimed they could not find any reservations or anyone who had called ahead under the name we put it under. Interesting experience today. My husband and I are pretty laid back and easy to please. It takes a lot for me to go to the trouble of writing a review like this. I happily write one if someone goes "above and beyond" for me but sadly, in this case, I'm writing my first ever crabby review. No complaints about the food--all was delicious. It's the service that was sorely lacking. Our server was a very lackadaisical young woman named Christen. She took our order promptly and returned with our drinks--a beer for my husband, a supposedly "bottomless" Diet Coke for me. After she left, we noticed that the little paper packets containing our silverware had no napkins in them. My husband flagged Christen down and asked for napkins. She said she'd bring them but never did. After a while another young lady arrived with our food order. When we asked this server about the napkins, she promptly returned with them and also brought me the mustard I asked for. Christen checked on us just seconds after we received our order and asked if everything was all right. We said yes because at this point everything was going smoothly. However, it quickly fell apart after that. We didn't see Christen again the entire time we ate our meal. She never came near the table to ask if I wanted my empty Diet Coke refilled or if my husband wanted to have another beer even though we were both no where near finished with our food and definitely could have used refills. I began to get annoyed because although my husband was nursing what was left in his beer, my Diet Coke was completely gone and I still had half a hamburger and some French fries to finish. Finally, a nice young man--don't know his name but he had a beard and a shaved head and looked like he works out--noticed us and asked if we needed anything. I told him I'd love another drink--it didn't have to be a full one (food all gone at this point) but just enough to "wash down the French fries." He said sure, took our empty plates and went to get the drink. Then and only then did Christen appear behind my husband's head, looking over his shoulder into our booth (we were the end booth) and asked me if we wanted desert. She couldn't even be bothered to walk around to the side of the table to face us both directly and ask properly! Amazing! I told her no and asked for the check. The sad thing is, I used to wait tables when I was in college and I've always had a heart for servers and the long, hard hours they put in for little money. I always tip generously and am very considerate of them and certainly realize that so many things that go wrong are out of their hands. In this case, however, my husband and I were completely ignored and treated rudely (the talking over the back of the booth thing was incredible). I hope someone at Chili's will have a little talk with Christen about the right way to make her customers feel welcome at the restaurant. She certainly isn't someone who leaves her customers with a desire to return. read more

I want to start off by saying that I rarely take the time to write a negative review and/or feedback unless it is very bad like this visit was. 1. I walked in and there were a few tables that were not cleaned. I understand 1 or 2 if customer's had just left but these were to many to count. I had to stand and wait to be greeted and then seated for about 5 minutes. 2. I get seated and the booth is not clean. 3. I got my drink and no straw so I had to wave another waitress down to give me a straw because my waitress was nowhere to be found. This leads to my next complaint. 4. Normally you get silverware in a paper bag when they sit you which has the straw in it. I finished my food before I even had the opportunity to ask for the silverware as my waitress would go a very long time from coming to where I was seating and always to tend to the other tables. 5. I finished my entire meal and had to wait several minutes before I was able to ask her for napkins because I did not get any at all. She then brought drinks and food for other tables and forgot my napkins. 6. Then took her forever to pick up my CC. Pay now on the kiosk was grayed out. Extremely unlikely that I will ever be back. read more

Went to lunch here. Do not get the enchiladas. They were awful! Husband ordered an old timer burger and the waitress did not repeat order back to us and when our meal FINALLY got to us she brought him the ultimate bacon burger so we sent it bacon only to wait ten more minutes to get his food...which was once again wrong. I love this chili's in all honesty, but the service I just received from the current bar tender was not the service I'm used to at this location. I ordered a beer and water and I forgot my ID so understandably she had to refuse me service for alcohol and that's fine but after that she just seemed to avoid my eye contact and ignored me as she spoke to everyone else at the bar multiple times checking on them while I was sitting there ready to order for about 15 minutes. So I finally just hollered my order and changed it from in house to to go which was simple traditional wings with ranch and Unpleasantly found out I received bleu cheese instead. Don't know the bartenders name but if she works every Thursday lunch shift I'd say go to bdubs or ruby Tuesday instead. read more

The Chili's in Culpeper is one of the nicer restaurants in town. My family lives in Culpeper, so I've been to Chili's several times. The service is always fast and the food is always good. You definitely can't go wrong with the combination fajitas or my new favorite, the sour cream and chicken enchiladas. The restaurant is also good for the kids (reasonable prices). I could also die for their molten chocolate cake. Yummm! The servers are always nice and most dishes are delivered in a timely manner. Give Chili's in Culpeper a try. read more

Have visited many times in the past but it seems that recently has taken a turn for the worse. Service was very slow and lackluster. Normally have their fantastic Cobb salad but they no longer offer it, so i ordered the shrimp tacos instead. Tacos had very little favor, or shrimp, for that matter, Our entress took 35 minutes to come out and then the server disappeared for another 30 minutes. In spite of the fact that the last time they sent our steaks over done, we went for it again. And we got a salad and a new Fresh Mex dish. In the internet site clearly states that it comes with rice and beans, none of the two came in the bag. Met up with some friends for dinner here. We've eaten at Chili's before, and were well aware of the prices, not horrible if you know what to expect. Our food was brought out in relatively good timing. Our server was attentive and pleasant. Some of the steaks we ordered were not cooked to our specifications, but the manager Nick (I think was his name) did a professional job of bringing things to our satisfaction. Most importantly, I'm sharing this review because while I was there, I accidentally misplaced my iPhone. Some kind, honest soul of integrity found it and turned it in to management rather than choosing to keep it. I don't know who you were, but I thank you greatly, and pray you reap rewards for sowing a good deed tonight. We have enjoyed both the sit down and the To-Go services at this Chilis and had great experiences with both. Tonight we ordered the 2 for 20 for take out and our order was taken and served very efficiently and the food was delicious! Everything was packaged very nicely for easy reheating at home and good sized portions of the appetizers and entrees. Guacamole was excellent, the bacon jack chicken breast was very good as well as the chicken bacon quesadillas. We have and will continue to eat here! read more

I went to Chili's on Monday in Culpeper Virginia and asked if either I could eat off the kids menu or order the lunch size fajitas (I would gladly pay a dollar or 2 more, other restaurants usually do that for me) I explained to the server and showed her my medical card that I carry since having Gastric Bypass. Tiffany, the server, got extremely rude and upset with me so I asked to speak to the manager to explain my side and ask about my options. She refused to get him and said she'd handle it herself. She comes back 15 minutes later with a larger chip on her shoulder and precedes go yell about it " he'll honor it this time but don't ever expect it again!" So loud other tables turned and I was so embarrassed I literally started to cry and wanted to hide. The manager never did come out and her treatment got worse. I called the corporate office and no one has responded. I feel so hurt and embarrassed. ( I don't mind it if they don't honor but really did she have to make it such a horrible deal like that?) My in laws family and I went here last night for my birthday dinner. We waited at the bar for a table and the bartender was nice and prompt with my family's drinks and even found time to ask about my pregnancy and our baby even though she was clearly very busy. When we got our table I got the 6 Oz sirloin with grilled avocado and it was good! Everyone else seemed to like their food too. Our server was clearly new and had not been trained well at all. Didn't know what beers they had, had to go keep running to the bar and asking. Didn't know what came with the dishes. I was told mine came with broccoli when I ended up getting a tiny salad. My cousin got the ribs and shrimp. Brought out the ribs and there was no shrimp. Had to wait another 15 minutes because "one of the servers took her shrimp" took forever to get drink refills. Then we needed to get home to take care of our dogs and she was nowhere to be found. Waited a long time for her to come and when she finally did her excuse was she was rolling silverware. I'm a server so usually I'm pretty lenient about this stuff when I see a place is busy but they werent THAT busy, our service was just ridiculous. Even my fiance said "my pregnant girl would have this knocked out and be sitting back twiddling her thumbs." Food was good but service....not so much. read more
