We are a party of 6 requiring 1 highchair. We arrived at Chili's just about 9 pm, and of course Chili's does not accept reservations, which we called to make earlier in the day. We arrived and they took my daughter's name and we proceeded to wait without being offered an approximate wait time. Meanwhile, parties of 2-4 were arriving and being seated almost immediately, or told the wait was 5 minutes. My daughter works in the industry and of course, was scouting out areas in the restaurant and saw a large booth near the bar, however, we were not offered that area, nor were we offered the patio like area where there was semi-outdoor dining. After waiting for 20 minutes, I asked one of the hosts how long they thought our wait would be. The curt answer I received was "I don't know we have a lot of large parties right now and we don't know when they will be done." Really??? you don't have any idea? Who is running this restaurant and why don't they know? 10 minutes later a different host said they were cleaning up a table for us now, which apparently took another 10 minutes. When we were shown to our table, the seats were still wet from being wiped down, and we were expected to sit on wet seats. When I tried to flag down a server for a dry towel or napkin to dry the seats, he just ignored me. So we basically sat in a wet booth, 4 adults, a 3 year old and a one and a half year old. Our server, Colin, greeted us and took our drink order. 2 diet cokes, 1 coke, 1 water with lemon, and 2 kids apple juices. This took another 10 minutes for the sodas and longer for the apple juice because he said he had to get that at the bar. When he came back with the apple juice we ordered our appetizer and my daughter said she wanted the kids mac and cheese put down at the same time because the children were hungry. We also ordered our main meal at that time. Again, after waiting entirely too long he brought out the appetizer and no mac and cheese for the kids. He left the table and then came back to ask how the appetizer was and my daughter asked him where the mac and cheese was. He replied by oh yes(in otherwords he forgot)went to the kitchen and brought it back. This food was basically dead in the window. The corn on the cob was served cold. The children liked the mac and cheese. We waited again a long time for our food to be brought out and were finally served dinner. Two in our party ordered food with wedges and were served their food with fries. The server told us at that time, they must have been out of wedges so they just substituted fries for it. Really?? at who's consideration was that. If you don't have a side that someone asked for you should be asking the person which other side they would like, not just giving them what you feel like making. At the time dinner was brought out, my daughter ordered a strawberry margarita. I paid close to $7. for a drink that wasn't even drinkable and was never brought to the table until we were all just about done eating. The server came back a couple of times sometimes greeting us from the correct side of the table and sometimes from the half wall, which I found inappropriate. He came and asked if we wanted desert and I told him to bring our check immediately. In the meantime my daughter left the table to talk to the manager and my other daughter took the, now fussing, 1 year old outside so it wouldn't disturb the few remainging guests. The server said we could pay from the kiosk if we were using a credit card. I told him I had a gift card and credit card, so he brought me the check at 10:43, which I was ready to pay immediately and he disappeared yet again. He finally came back and said, "are your ready to pay" I said it's been sitting there since you handed it to me. He took the payment and returned a few minutes later, at which time the manager came back to the table with my daughter and said, "Oh you already paid the bill, if I had known before you paid I could have made an adjustment to the bill." This also is untrue, and I can't believe, even after my daughter told him she worked in the industry, and knows that if the manager wanted to he could have adjusted any part of that charge. Instead the manager just said that at our next visit, he will take care of us. Well my daughter may go back there, because the food is very good, however, I will not go back to that Chili's again. As an aside, I did tip the server, and only because, my daughter is in the industry. However, even with the service being as bad as it was, I still gave the server a 13% tip, which was way more than he earned or deserved. read more
