Covid has destroyed what once was a good place to eat. Slow service minimal seating due to lack of servers..its a shame really.

Went to Chilis Saturday night. Just moved to Ellenton recently from West Bradenton and have been checking out the nearby eateries. Had been in there 3 weeks prior on a Saturday night. They were very busy both nights. Our waitress Alison was cheery and right on top of everything both nights. Beer was ice cold and never ran dry. We(2 of us)ordered appetizers and sliders both nights. Food was hot and very good. We were very pleased with everything including our tab that was much lower than it would have been elsewhere. This chilis is the most unorganized restaurant I've ever been too. I walked in a stood in front of the hostess desk for a good amount of time until a host finally came to help. My waitress and host both did not seem very happy to be working lol. The service was slow and the food VERY greasy. I love burgers more than anything but I do not recommend getting one here. Sat there for over ten minutes after being seated at lunch today. Not one waitress would even look in our direction. The couple next to us were there longer than us and they were never waited on either. Got up and told the hostess we were leaving. After a few hours of shopping at the outlets we thought this would be a great stop for dinner especially since we'd been at this specific location in the past. Well that was a wrong assumption. Although Chili's is in no way a steakhouse they have signs advertising their steak which lead me to the obvious conclusion that the steak would be a good choice. We ordered our food and 25 minutes later they brought out all the food except 1 plate, the steak. The waitress kindly informed us the steak was not cooked correctly and they were remaking it. One of our plates was cold, not warm, cold. Approximately 10 minutes later the steak that was ordered medium was medium rare (closer to rare) and brought with no sides even though the choices had been confirmed with the waitress when placing our order. The manager came, as expected, to apologize and let us know the food would be right out. We let him know what the issues were one of which being the steak was brought with no sides. Waited about another 10 minutes, got our food and again a steak with no sides and not cooked properly. The manager then said "oh I apologize, I thought it was just the steak". Then he decided to tell us that it was the waitresses first day, which was the last straw for me and one of the reasons there is 1 star. The manager should never put his employees down by saying it was their first day when it clearly was not. The manager is responsible for his employees and their necessary training unless Chili's as a corporation does not have that belief to which I would be dumbfounded in the service industry. Overall, the food was not bad. The service was not great, the handling of issues was even worse. You're better off driving a little farther and finding something else. read more

I ordered from here twice in the last month. Never again! How they can make a simple burger and fries inedible is baffling. The meat smelled off, and the fries were fried in something fishy. I asked for a pink burger and it was burned. I asked for a toasted bun and it was wet. The fries were wilted and soggy. I spent a bunch for two lunches, including the tip for delivery during COVID-19 quarantine. This shows what Chili's thinks of "to go" people. Just got into town and could not wait to eat so we came here because it is right across the street from our hotel. The chips and salsa are really good and I wish that's all I had to say so I could give this place a better review. Sadly it is only the beginning... I ordered the potato soup and salad. The salad had moldy spinach leaves and gooey cucumbers. I asked to send the meal back to get a hamburger instead. The manager said what's wrong with the salad? I said it's bad, look at it. He said it's just because it was frozen. Then said it's fine what else do you want? I said a plain hamburger please. He said you want cheese and mustard on it? I no cheese please and mustard is fine, thank you. My meal came back with cheese!!! I told him I did not order cheese and he cut me off and said I asked you specifically if you wanted cheese and you said you did!! I said no I said I wanted the mustard. My friend asked me what happened and I told her I specifically said no cheese and the manager cut me off again and said NO! You specifically said you WANTED cheese!!! Then walked off. So here I am my 3 friends already have eaten their food and paid and I've still not gotten my food. I got the # for the corporate office and his name and I will certainly be giving them a call tomorrow morning. Our server Marcia was pleasant and did her best with what she had to deal with. Goodness, I hate to give this place a two star but service has got to get it together. It's not that the staff are rude, but to get service is the problem. This is my third visit in less than thirty days, and two of the three times there was no host at the entrance, one time I had to ask a manager to get our chips because it took so long for the bartender to get it, and forget about getting condiments for our meal at our latest visit. Saying "sorry for the wait" is a common expression here. I know that these guys work hard, but maybe hiring more staff? Not sure I will be back any time soon- really like Chills but not this location. My boyfriend went to the bathroom and the host was servicing the bathroom! Bait you in with their dine rewards program and then don't want to honor it. Waitress wasn't friendly. Manager never came over but the waitress made sure to tell us the manager said she'd honor it this time but not again. Ridiculous. Third time NOT a charm. We waited 15-20 minutes for a table. There were at least 6 empty tables but still had to wait. Understaffed again. How can you run a restaurant without the proper number of servers.? Poor management!!! Now for the best part, ordered our drinks, and 15 minutes later the waitress said that they couldn't make a Mai- Tai. They don't have the right rum for it and the this particular bartender will not make drinks without her recipe. What!!! Unheard of!!! Most of the time they would go ahead and make it. .., But not today! I told the waitress to go ahead and cancel it. I was not happy. 2 minutes goes by another waitress brings over the drinks. I was in shock as I was told that they couldn't make my drinks plus I had already cancel my drinks order. Now I'm pissed! So I told the waitress to take the drinks back and cancel our whole order because I lost my appetite with all the BS going on. Then the waitress came over and said that we can just go and she would cancel out the check. I then asked her why she would tell me that this particular bartender would not make drinks without following her recipe. She then basically called me a liar by saying that she never told me that in front of her manger that they couldn't make my drinks. The conversation got louder as the waitress was yelling at me saying that I never told you that. The manager admitted that they were understaffed and that they got their butt kicked tonight. The moral of the story is that this is our third time here and it's always the same old shit!!! Wait 30 minutes to get seated and another 30 for your okay food. The food always comes out wrong. I leave here feeling angry. We will NOT return for this SUCKY service. PS...oh to top it off.. The waitress was so sick that she couldn't barely speak. She said that she is drinking vinegar and taking medicine and apologized for her lack of voice. The kicker is when she called me a liar her voice was clear!!! I would avoid here if you have a gluten allergy. I have dined at other chili's locations before with no problems, but this location was not safe. Ordered off the gluten free menu. Told my waiter to let the chef know that I had a gluten allergy. Only ordered the chicken fajitas, and only ate the meat and vegetables to be extra safe that it was gluten free, and I still got sick. Really disappointed, the restaurant seemed newly remodeled and modern, but I won't be going back for lack of safe gluten free options. read more

Stepped outside and after 30 min went back in to check.... was told we called you you didn't come to be seated. No one ever came out side or used to pa to page us. On our very first visit, we waited 20 mins for a water. Then I ordered a burger w extra avocado and got charged extra for a teeeeeny tiny sliver on my burger. I decided to give it another chance- The most recent time I went with my grandfather, who loves "deals" and the convenient location of the restaurant. I am on a strict dairy-free diet, so I asked for a salad w some oil and vinegar, the plate came out and had "old" blue-cheese from another customer's use. So they brought me a dirty plate with fresh food on it. I decided to just drink some beer to get through the lunch. I do not recommend this place. It could be run so much better. read more

Usually whenever I go here with my mom I get great service. Tonight was NOT the case. I went out for a celebratory dinner with my boyfriend expecting a nice night out (which we rarely have) and got the complete opposite. When we got there, there were two girls serving us, Jenn & Brooke. They took our drink order which came out just fine, until I asked for chips and salsa. 10-15mins later we got them. Unfortunately that was the best part of our "meal". We ordered two burgers (WELL DONE) and the waitress gave me a dirty look when I mentioned I wanted mine plain... there's nothing wrong with that right? Apparently so.... It then took us 20-30 mins to get our food as we ate most of our chips and haven't been checked on once within that time frame as we had empty glasses the whole time. She kept asking all of the families who got there after us (with their food) if everything was okay, then ran away without making eye contact with us. After we got our food my boyfriend noticed his was undercooked.. We then waited ANOTHER 10mins to get their attention to re cook the burger. Both of our food was cold by then. I did not finish mine once I noticed not even halfway through that mine was basically still RAW. She then gave us refills FINALLY and brought his burger back WITHOUT the fries. That took another 5mins for them to bring out and by then his burger was cold. I ended up ordering it all to go at that point.... Not to mention he had a CUCUMBER not a pickle, on his burger. GROSS! NOT TO MENTION the manager only asked FAMILIES if their meals were okay and completely skipped us! I am never going back there EVER again! I left NO TIP. SUCKS. ZERO things right here. Called ahead for seating, arrived people waiting with over 10 empty tables. NOT good start. Waited another 10 minutes in light of being "next". Crap table right by kitchen. That was the good part here comes the bad....1 HOUR to get food. Waitress never said a single word or checked in. Sat with empty drinks for 40+_ minutes as she disappeared. When food FINALLY arrives 2 of 3 are wrong missing items (corn on cob for one dinner, avocado for salad). Also only one is hot, other two are luke warm to cold. Tell dumb waitress whose cruising to literally zero tip (and I've never done that ever) missing items. She acts suprised, returns alter with oen missing item. Never any sorry, etc. The horror story continues...bottles of beer arrive we didn't order and we tell the delivery girl nope not ours and she takes them away. Now disgusted with entire place we finish rather crappy overall food and want to pay. OVERCHARGED for the beers we never ordered. Again crap waitress acts suprised we want them off the damn bill. Worst service ever... I have never in my life had to actually walk out of a restaurant... my husband and I had guest over and we decided to treat them to dinner. When we got there was told there would be a wait time of 15-20 min (even though there were open booths everywhere). They had us seated within 5-10 min (not so bad we thought) We got seated and our server didn't come until about 15 min later. We informed our very obviously drugged up server that one of our guest were allergic to tomatoes... he took this as a joke.. our VERY easy app we ordered came twice with tomatoes.. this normally would be ok... if it had not had taken an HOUR AND HALF just to try and correct our app.. we had to hunt him down to ask for drink refills and place our dinner order... He never came so we had to serve ourself and walk to the bar to ask for refills. By this point 2 hours had passed with still... no app, and no dinner in site. As we watch table after table around us get there, order food, eat, pay, then leave we asked to speak to a manager. She very obviously did not care about the horrible service or time we had already sat there (got seated at 7:20pm, by the time we walked out it was almost 10pm). If you're looking for a hot, wilted salad, this is your place! Caesar salad served on a plate fresh out of the dishwasher. I had the server feel the plate, and she agreed should've been chilled. She went back to the kitchen, and returned with the same lettuce on a different hot plate. When I told her that made no sense, she said she tried to explain that to the cooks. No offer to redo or get something else. Didn't even come off the bill, so I had to ask for that to happen since I didn't eat the salad. My other half's larger salad also came out on a hot plate. It seems like the most basic of things continuously slip the staffs' minds at this restaurant. No, they weren't busy. We stopped in here to get some lunch after shopping at the outlet mall. We both wanted a turkey burger and so we decided to try Chili's. The waitress said their turkey burgers were the best, very juicy, not dry and made us want them even more. So we both ordered one without cheese. It seemed to take forever for them to arrive, but when they finally brought the burgers, we noticed both of them had cheese on them. We told our waitress and she said, "we could remake them but it would take a really long time". She didn't offer any apology for the mistake or anything!! We decided to scrape the cheese off and then noticed the burger patties looked very dried out and hard--no juice whatsoever. The first bite was hard and obviously overcooked or just a horrible hockey puck patty, couldn't tell which or maybe it was both. She eventually came back and asked how it was, so we shared that it was overcooked and dry. She said she would be sure to inform the kitchen so they could avoid that in the future. Didn't offer to make up the bad experience in any way. To top it off, she actually charged us for the cheese!!!! OMG--needless to say we didn't tip her just to get our extra cheese cost back for what was the worst turkey burger ever!! Overall--poor service, horrible turkey burger, never going back!! read more

I don't usually do reviews but this place is terrible. It's been terrible every time I've come here and it continues to get worse. Although it's convenient, this will be my last time here. Waited 20 minutes for a table although there were about 8 open when we got here. Ended up sitting in the bar area and it took about 10 minutes before anyone came up. Brought drinks and waited another 20 minutes for a straw. No refills, no napkins, no check back... nothing. Server was gone. Asked the manager for a box after waiting another 20 minutes after he forgot. Finally found someone to get me a box so I could wrap up this painful ordeal. read more

We love Chili's but this location was our worse experience ever. After 5 minutes we were situated and our waitress took our order. Drink took awhile but then waiting for our food over an hour and only two broth and still waiting for the last I call and manage and let him know we were very unhappy with the service, he took 75% off our bill which was nice but we miss our appointment and I will not go to this location again in Ellenton. read more

I've come in and eaten at this location a few times now. Every time has been wonderful and a pleasant expirence. Serice was great, fast and friendly. Food came out in a timely fashion, hot and delicious. The new mango patron margarita is the bomb, bartenders got it going on! I've sat in the lounge, which is great cause you get free chips, but I've also sat in the dining room which is a different experience all in its own. I see all these bad reviews and can understand why people would get frustrated but when I'm here all I see is fast paced hard working people trying their hardest to please everyone. read more
