We decided to visit the Chili's restaurant in Oceanside, CA located on Vista Way. We arrived at 11:30 am, a half an hour after opening. The hostess saw us enter and instead of greeting us, she looked at us with a blank stare as if we were invisible. Not a good  start. I  asked if we could get a table for two. She proceeded to walk us to our table. The restaurant was fairly empty. Unfortunately, she decided to seat us right next to the entry doors of the kitchen, putting us next to a busy area with a lot of foot traffic. Oh well, looking on the brighter side of things, maybe we'll get our food faster. We were greeted promptly by our server, who took our drink orders. She gave us time to look over the menu and after bringing our drinks in a timely manner, took our food orders. We opted for the Santa Fe Salad and the Ultimate Smokehouse Combo. Our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and after providing us with extra napkins and refilling our drinks, we were ready to dig in.  The Santa Fe Salad consisted of tender grilled chicken, mixed greens, pico de gallo, avocado slices, cilantro, crispy tortilla strips, spicy Santa Fe sauce and a side of house-made ranch dressing. The salad was well portioned for the price. The only criticism if any was that they went heavy on the  Santa Fe sauce, making the salad a little too spicy for my taste.  Luckily, the side of ranch dressing toned the spicy flavor down a bit. I would recommend asking for the spicy Santa Fe Sauce on the side so that it gives you more control over the heat level.  Would I order this again?...probably not. I can usually handle spicy food, but when it comes to a salad, the spice should be there to accent the flavor, not overpower it.  The other dish we ordered was the Ultimate Smokehouse Combo. This was a very well portioned platter that consisted of a half order of honey chipotle ribs, tender chicken crispers,  jalapeno-cheddar smoked sausage, roasted corn on the cob, french fries and a slice of Texas toast. There are other options of choice for protein and sides available for this platter, so be sure to check the menu or ask your server. The favorites were the sweet and juicy ribs and the well seasoned corn on the cob. There was so much food, we took the leftovers to go. Overall, I would say the portions of food were spot on for the price and our server did a great job checking on us periodically and topping off our drinks. Just make sure to come here with a big appetite. read more

I enter the store, there are two sizable parties ahead of me. I'm a party of one, so I understand that they get service first Two groups of 5-7 enter after me and have to wait to be helped. Understandable, it's a sunday and its packed. The smaller group in before me then get seated and situated. Thats good, how it should be. Smaller group that entered after me is asked if they've been helped, they say no and get seated and serviced... Kinda weird but a few groups had left, so still a good sign! Second group after me gets helped, and seated and a couple more groups enter. Very weird vut but so long as things keep moving, I guess. Third group in after me heads to the bathroom, leaving just me and two large groups one in before and one in after me. One of the servers look to me and ask me directly if I've been helped, I say I haven't! The server then turns to the fourth group after me and goes to seat and service them instead. I leave the store since god forbid ONE PERSON gets helped before the 15 other people behind him. Instead of having a bunch of blobs at the door, try an actual line or queue system. I am one guy, just looking to have dinner after a horrible day of a horrible month. The bar is so low it is in hell, but everyone wants to play limbo apparently. read more

Had a great experience at Chili's Grill & Bar - Oceanside right off the 78. We walked in around 2:30-3:00 p.m. on a Saturday and were honestly expecting a bit of a wait since it's the weekend, but we got seated immediately. Our table and menus were ready, and we were greeted right at the door. Service was quick from start to finish, the food came out fast, and everything tasted great. If I could rate this server a 0 I would . We came to chilies because we love coming here but this was one of the WORST experience we've received. The waiter never checked in on us and forgot about our drinks we were basically done when she decided to bring our drinks and we sent them back . Then she came once we were completely done to ask how everything was going, she never apologized and her excuse was she was busy on the other side of the restaurant when in fact I saw her talking with her coworkers for a good 5 minutes doing nothing . What can I say? We go here because it's in walking distance of my friend's house & it's a hell of a lot better than Applebee's. We ordered the margarita they have a 2 per person limit on - it was incredible. Nachos were great. Service was friendly - helpful. I can't complain in any capacity. Always choose Chili's over Applebee's when given the chance. read more

We don't normally do big chain restaurants but the kids like this place so we ventured over there last night. The food is what you would expect. It's simple and does the trick, definitely nothing spectacular. The service was actually better than expected as they were very busy. Personally, I think these places are too loud, the music is odd and the decor is a hodge-podge with no direction. Does it work in a pinch? Yes. All in all it was a good night out with the kiddos. read more

I love that they have maintained a family-friendly atmosphere at a reasonable price. Even sitting at the bar doesn't feel Shady. And they are the go-to on Veterans Day. I use to love chili's. But lately it just hasn't been good. The food just doesn't seem fresh. My plate was the most unappetizing looking plate ever. I got the: CILANTRO-LIME CARNE ASADA (550 cal) Seared steak, topped with a drizzle of cilantro-pesto, lime, pico. Served with Mexican rice & black beans. 12.39 My plate looked like it was just thrown together. The rice had burnt pieces in it and was dry! The beans... took the whole plate. And the meat. Looks like it was just thrown in there last minute with the sauce not even drizzled nicely. Pico... what pico? 9 little tomatoes scattered in my black beans. I pictured my plate much differently. lol Their signature chicken crispers were not crispy. Their drinking glasses looked dirty. You could literally smudge the white film caked on them. The one positive thing I can say about this restaurant is our waiter was super nice. He went above and beyond for us. But everything else.... Needs work on. read more

I used to be a regular customer of Chili's when I lived in another city. It was always decent. It has a full bar, and serves solid drinks. And I like the food. Then the pandemic happened and most of us stopped going to most restaurants. That is supposedly behind us now. This was our first visit to this Chili's location. We will be back. The food was well prepared. The service was good. The drinks were great and were a good size. The place was clean. It was easy to get there and easy to park. I always used to order the Skillet Queso, but Chili's menu now lists calories, and when I saw how many calories were in Skillet Questo, I decided not to order it. Too bad. Very tasty. I had bone-in barbecue wings and street corn. I don't remember what my wife ordered, but she ate all of it, so I can't go look in a leftover box in the fridge. Some restaurants that are similar to Chili's have vast menus. I liked the scale of the Chili's menu. Just enough items that you can find something you like but don't have to wonder about ingredient freshmess. read more

Been coming to this Chilis since it opened years ago and it gets 2 stars because the food is still good but the management/manager is terrible. Instead of carrying drinks start managing the restaurant as a whole. We watched 3 parties get sat in front of us and when I asked "why" after the first two the lost manager just stared at us. Then they sat a third set of people. We were only 2 people waiting for a table. Then we were going to buy a bunch of holiday gift cards but nobody was around. Makes people not want to visit a place that couldn't care less about the customers. Sad to see this Chilis heading in a bad direction. read more

I had a fantastic to-go experience at Chili's, all thanks to Angie. She was incredibly friendly, efficient, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. From the moment I arrived, she greeted me warmly, double-checked my order to make sure everything was perfect, and had me on my way in no time. It was all prepared and warm when I got there. Everything was packaged neatly, nothing was missing, and the food was still hot when I got home. Her attention to detail and positive attitude really stood out and made the experience feel more personal. We chatted about my kids for a few minutes and she didn't make me feel rushed. Angie is a great example of excellent customer service, and I'll definitely be coming back thanks to her! She mentioned she was training and whoever the trainer was did amazing! I was in the food industry for nearly 15 years. On one hand, I am very forgiving, understanding and I empathize when things may go wrong. On the other hand, I know proper standards, especially when it comes to quality, guest service and cleanliness. It was disappointing to see that during my latest (and very rare) Chilis visit....most of the servers and food runners had their hair down, or half way down. Most of their hair was over their shoulder and basically in the food that was being served. Maybe things have changed since I left the service industry....however I believe service, cleanliness and food quality should be at the forefront of a restaurant's business. Overall, liked this place. Atmosphere was great. Clean and welcoming. We were met quickly and seated right away. Our orders were taken, drinks brought before the meal arrived and were refilled during the meal without asking. I ordered the, new to the menu, Philly cheese steak. My wife ordered the big burger. She liked the burger, but thought the Habit is better. I thought the Philly cheese steak tasted good, plenty of onions, peppers, jalapeños and melted cheese. The bread was fresh. I did think the meat was skimpy and maybe cooked too much. I'd still go back as it is pleasant and the food is generally good. read more

If you're from the south and want some southern sweet tea you aren't going to get it here unless you want unsweetened sweet tea. So Chili's is one of those places I used to go to a lot more than I have in recent years. It's a chain, and I'm going to more mom and pop restaurants these days. Well, while on vacation recently my hubby and I were hungry and Chili's was the closest place to our hotel (and most others had closed for the night). We ordered out - chips/salsa and margaritas. Oh my goodness, the drink was fabulous (simple, but just what I needed at the time) and the chips came in this special bag you could pop in the microwave to warm. OH my goodness, I love warm chips! The whole thing was such a cool little experience, especially with the new 'My Chili's Rewards' program they now have. We can get chips/salsa free each time we go in. I'm there! UPDATE TO THIS WEEK ... we wanted a chain restaurant with american food (our son is picky and was coming along with us), and a good diverse menu. Funny thing is, most of those restaurants are now gone! Like some Denny's, IHops, Soup Plantations, Sizzlers etc ... it's so sad. This fact drove us back to Chili's and I'm glad it did. They've up'ed their anty. The waitress was amazing (super sweet and on-top-of-it), everything we got (especially the Awesome Blossom Petals) was great. We were all happy and I got my margarita again. It was actually a surprisingly good experience. Those restaurants who made it this far in the pandemic, did so for a reason. Their innovative ideas pulled them through. Congrats Chili's. read more

I wanna say that my family and I have been going to this particular Chili's location for at least 10 years. It is located off of El Camino North complex where you will find a lot of parking, Ross, Barnes and Noble, Red Lobster, and Tilly's. We had a wonderful waitress named Daphne, who honestly was one of the best waitstaff I've come across in a while. She was very friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and always there when you need (for extra sauce, refills, etc.) It is always tough to accommodate a large party and she did so w ease. My only recommendation is that you come in w an empty stomach because of the free chips and dip as well as the 3 for ten dollar deal will fill you up. This Chilis was not my favorite location/experience. Oceanside location. I had a few meetings today and decided to stop by to grab a bite. It took 10 minutes to be seated no biggie as its dinner time but now we are waiting 20 min for ordering and had not been offered drinks at this point. I felt sorry for the young lady as you could tell she was struggling as I heard people saying they are still waiting on their drinks, refills, or had not ordered. I was nice but annoyed too.... when you can't even get straws, napkins, drink refills and you haven been more than patient it's kinda irritating. I think they could have helped her instead of having two girls at the front door... I mean how many people do you need to greet people saying how many guest, it will be 10 minutes, can I get a name??. Now the food was ok the burgers were a little pinker than I like but I dare not ask her to fix it I would be there longer.... The drinks were good so no complaints there just wish my waiter could have been more attentive. The ambiance was a regular atmosphere of chilis as it was an ok crowd out tonight. Ok one last thing.... I like the Chilis brand despite their prices going up it doesn't feel like a deal where family can go to dine for a good price anymore though. read more

Absolutely love chilis! You can never go wrong here, so many options to choose from!! It can get busy on the weekends but if you go a bit later in the night you'll miss the craziness and longer service times (which is to be expected when the place is full). This used to be favorite chilis but I'm so done. First I got the 3 for me, cost 14.99 or so for the Nashville crispers. The picture on their website shows 5 crispers but this chilis only gives you 3. My side salad was pathetic. You used to get the fries and corn with the crispers but now all you get is fries and they raised the price. So what you are really paying is more money for less quantity. My family and I headed over to Chili's for dinner. We had a long day with soccer tournaments for one of my kiddos. I think this was the best service I have had at a Chili's. Our server was Andrew. I've been here a few times but recently about a day ago. The server was a woman and she was super nice and very attentive. There was a second person who was also a woman who would ask if we needed our table to be cleared and if we needed extra condiments she would get them for us. Both ladies were very attentive and made sure we were always taken care of. You can never go wrong with Texas cheese fries, the classic nachos were okay and so was the bacon burger. The 3 for $10.99 is a great deal and they offer pretty good entrees to choose from. My kids loved the cheese pizza as well. There was an issue with our bill but the waitress took care of it for us.
