My boyfriend and I love to come here for their Cajun pasta. I get the shrimp one and my boyfriend gets the chicken one. We usually come in late and they are still more than happy to seat us. We get the dinner for two for $25. It includes an appetizer (we get the two Caesar salads) which are a very decent size. Then we get our entrees, the shrimp cajun pasta is $1 extra but worth it. And for dessert that is included with the $25 we get the skillet chocolate chip cookie. The cookie could be a little more soft in the center but other than that it's delicious. Ive been a chili's customer for years and i often take advantage of the free coupons and give them quite a bit of my business throughout the year until after today. I ordered online to save time and showed up at the time stated on my confirmation. Upon arrival, i was the only one waiting on a to-go order . When someone finally came , they assisted the gentleman who had showed up after me after i had been there for 15 minutes. Once i was noticed they brought my order out and i informed them that i had a free coupon for the appetizer. The waitress then proceeded to tell me that my appetizer wasn't part of the special. So i said ok , ill order a different appetizer . Then she went in the kitchen and yelled something. Then she came back out and asked what i wanted instead and then said well that will be another 15-20 minutes. So 30 minutes waiting for the online order. 15 minutes waiting to be tended to and another 20 minutes? You mean you couldn't just give me the appetizer i originally ordered and charged me for the difference or something. I mean who else is going to eat it? So i politely said its ok don't worry about it and left to Industry on Guadalupe where it doesn't take long AT ALL. Horrible customer service. I should have read the reviews before ordering. There are approximately three Chili's in my area I've been to all three. I would say this is the best location in my area . The past few times I've got an excellent service and great food. Today we had Lloyd as our server and he was prompt I didn't have to ask for more ice. I didn't have to ask for more tea. Worst chilis I have ever been to in my entire life. I love chilis, honestly it's one of my fav restaurants, but an experience with what I had makes me question. First off, I drive 20 minutes out of my way with my date to come here because chilis sounded good, showed up and there was no one in the waiting area and apparently there was a "30 minute wait". My date and I decided to sit in the bar area at one of the open booths which was covered with dirty dishes, after waiting 20 minutes for a waiter to clean our table we CLEANED IT OURSELVES. We moved the plates to a cart next to the kitchen and wiped it off with hand sanitizer and napkins. After waiting AGAIN for like 15 min the bartender took pity on us and walked over and took our drink order. By that time we decided to leave. I came to eat dinner with my husband and my daughter for a nice dinner away from home. The restaurant was very empty, with only a few other customers seated. Nobody was there waiting to greet us, and we stood there for a moment before we were taken by the hostess/employee to our table. A few minutes later, our waiter arrived to our table, looking very exhausted and nervous. He spoke with a quiet and shaky voice, struggling to explain that it's his first day on the job and that he is overwhelmed with the workload. Then he took our drink orders and disappeared for awhile before coming back to tell us our drinks were on the way. We finally got our drinks. We were asked if we'd like any appetizers so we ordered our appetizer and waited another long wait before we were able to order our meal. Finally, our waiter took our meal order and disappeared. We were visited again 2 more times while waiting on our appetizer, and he kept saying it's coming out soon, but was very timid/nervous about it. It took 40-ish minutes to get our appetizer. We ordered our meal and finally got our food after 40 minutes. My husband ordered the ribs and broccoli-the ribs were dry and the broccoli wasn't warm enough. My daughter ordered a cheese pizza and fries (she couldn't have mac n cheese because they were out) and was satisfied, I had no complaints about my bacon ranch chicken quesadillas. When we told our waiter about our issue with the ribs and broccoli, he asked what he could do for us. We requested to see the manager who approached us almost immediately. She asked us if everything was ok, and my husband explained that his meal wasn't cooked and prepared properly. We were offered alternatives but declined because of the amount of time it took for each of our items to be brought to our table. We also noticed a considerable amount of grease/film on the silverware before we even used them. We showed the manager this as well. This visit was highly disappointing. Nobody was enthusiastic to help us, everything took much longer than it should've, food was not all good, and none of the staff smiled. We paid, quickly left, and we won't be back. Hire employees who want to work, who are smiley and enthusiastic, who are motivated, and who can communicate effectively with their customers. Food was AMAZING! But... The reason this is 2 stars is because our waitress, Amber, was not guest friendly or very interactive. For starters she just snatched my friends cup off the table to refill it, she never ASKED if we wanted refills when we needed it. she didnt talk to us to ask if everything was okay. she never even made eye contact with us, and to top it off I was going to give her a 20% tip but when she brought me my cash she kept my change, because she thought we werent going to tip her cause we asked for the change, so I didn't bother leaving her anything except the change she stole and we just picked up what we had and left. We went to this place last week to grab something to eat and we were very hungry. When we arrived, it took about 10 minutes before the waiter came by and asked us what we wanted. But we figured something was going on to make service so slow, and didn't say anything. When the waiter did come by, we ordered an appetizer and then some drinks and our main meal. The drinks took almost as long as the server did to arrive and the beer was not even cold. Usually, we you order drinks the appetizer follows shortly thereafter. It took 15 minutes for it to come out. By that time, I asked the waiter if there was a problem in back or something going on to make things so slow. He immediately got an attitude and gave me a dirty look and make several smart remarks, but never really explained the problem. Later on, his college buddies arrived at the table behind us and he actually confessed that the reason service was so slow was because they were all helping to unload a food truck in back. Now if the guy had said this to begin with, I would have totally understood and not said anything. But the fact that he got very testy with me and acted like he didn't even care about the other customers he had in his area (one couple next to us waited between 10-12 minutes before he came by), his attitude was the worst I have ever seen in a server. Yeah it's a college town, so you expect this kind of thing, but if I was the owner I would seriously get my act together. He needs to have servers with better attitudes and at least better communication skills. Even when we spoke politely to the manager about the bad service, he got angry with us. read more

I give this Chili's one star due it's awful costumer service! Once, my husband and I sat at the bar, thinking we'll get served right away(there was no one at the bar) but we were way wrong. The bartender walked right past us, at her own bar, several times and didn't even ask us if we wanted a drink, much less offer menu for food. So we walked out. Strike one. Then today, my two sons and I go in and I'm thinking, maybe it will be better because we have an actual assigned waiter... Yeah no, I was wrong. Once again, the waiter walked by our table 3 times and never even took our drink order! So, we walked out again,.. Hungry, and frustrated. Strike two! tl;dr Food is crap, Service is crap. Funeral homes have better food and service. This is the story of Llyod and Happy Hour. After a lengthy wait in the bar, we were called to the front of the restaurant via a buzzy plastic contraption and seated with the regular apathy expected from a 16 year old hostess in a corporately owned restaurant. We sat down in good humor, joking and talking about the day's errands, what we wanted to do, etc. Quickly we realized we had been sitting for twenty minutes, and we had no waiter. The table of 12 next to us had left, and we were the only booth in the back corner. After some disgruntled mumbling, our savior (or so we thought) arrived in the form of Lloyd. Picture the most unsuitable individual to be a waiter and well, you have Lloyd. Lloyd spent a total of thirty seconds introducing himself to the table, no apologies for the wait or openly visible flop sweat. He was very pushy, so two of us ordered water, the other quickly blurted "Coke!" and off Lloyd went. Not to be seen again for ten minutes. At this point, we knew we needed to order, we knew we needed food. Lloyd returned, with two waters and a Coke, good so far. I then ordered a jack and coke, and my other compatriot asked for a long island iced tea. Having had a drink in the bar earlier, I knew mixed drinks were 3$. As stated by the obnoxious Happy Hour adverts placed everywhere in the restaurant. Sure enough, Lloyd reappeared right on time with our drinks (which means fifteen minutes later.) For those keeping score, we have now been in the restaurant for more than an hour. And Loyd's total time at the table is a world-record-breaking two minutes. We ordered our appetizers and food at the same time, as we were worried Lloyd might take another twenty minute cycle, and we had no desire to sit rather uncomfortably for another hour in our booth eating. Ten minutes later (of course) Lloyd returns with grave news. One of the appetizers we have ordered is unfortunately completely unavailable, as the entire restaurant is out of pickles. Which is very strange. He tells us that we can order another appetizer in it's place, but before giving us the chance to tell him what that appetizer is, he whisks away as though he has been called upon by his deity of choice. Ten minutes pass, (Classic Lloyd) and he returns with our original appetizer, and again informs us that one of the things we have ordered is completely out of stock. This prompts severe grumbling from the table, and my guest is forced to ask for a menu so that she can place yet another order. At this point, Lloyd does not reappear until well after the food has been served. Instead our replacement appetizer and two of our entree's are served to us by what I can only assume is Loyd's supervisor. She carefully apologizes to us and explains why exactly things are unavailable. She and I have a brief discussion about the bill (which I can look at via the handy Ziosk Tablet, more on this later) and she scarpers. We had the chips and queso as an appetizer; it arrived lukewarm and tasted as if the chef mixed bean dip and spray cheese in a bowl. Our replacement appetizer was the spinach and artichoke dip, which was the only thing I manged to eat without gagging. My entree was a buffalo chicken salad. Some thoughts: dry chicken, cold, slimy lettuce. The other entree was a plate of chicken tenders and fries. It seems there is a theme to the food because: dry chicken, cold, slimy fries. Ten minutes later, the replacement entree arrives in the hands of our lovely new waitress "The General Manager" (I'm not joking, this man was the GM of the restaurant and he brought us our food). This is the last time we see our somewhat competent waitress. The replacement entree is a salad of some kind that contains pineapple, it's never finished. Lloyd returns briefly, from around a corner, asking if all our food is good. It's not. As we struggle through our meal, service is scarce and almost completely negligent. Empty appetizer plates pile up, empty drink cups stand completely full to the brim with ice, and we are hunched together in the booth try to escape from an avalanche of mediocre dishes. Lloyd appears, sees us done, says "Be back with the check". This is the last time we see Lloyd. Total time spent with our table? Maybe six minutes of the age we sat there. Lloyd's supervisor returns to tell us she made some alterations to our check to sweeten our dining experience and that she hopes we have a good time. The checks then simply appeared on the table. We don't know who dropped them, we don't know how. Perhaps Lloyd finally achieved instantaneous travel. Turns out, each of the mixed drinks is actually 6$ and Happy Hour only exists in the bar (which I am sitting next to) What an utter disappointment to be overcharged for watered down, terribly mixed drinks. read more

I usually don't stop off at chain restaurants if I can help it, but I did today and I was thrilled!!! Our waitress, Alli, was so patient and knowledgeable! I told her that I wanted an adult drink and wasn't sure what to order. She asked if I liked Margaritas-not much, vodka-yes, fruity -some, sour-some, etc and then surprised me with the best drink!!! My daughter likes margaritas but wanted something different and her drink was picked out perfectly as well!!! I then ordered the Southwest Shrimp Salad, my daughter ordered the Salmon, and my son ordered the Molten Lava Cake-I got a small one to go!!! The salmon was cooked perfectly!!! And if you have ordered salmon at different places or cooked it, u know it gets dried out quick! This was perfect and the salad was amazing! I was watching my son devour his dessert and made a comment on wishing I could do that, when my waitress suggested a small one to go!!! Perfect!!! Seriously, having a waitress that can anticipate ur needs, make knowledgeable suggestions, and be amazing at her job is a rarity!!! I will definitely add this to my choice places!!! Side note: we watched. Table with 3 adults and two kids be picky and messy and then not tip. If u can't tip-DONT GO OUT TO EAT! Chili's has always been one of my favorite places to go because USUALLY Chili's restaurants are clean and well-managed. However, this Chili's in San Marcos was literally FILTHY!!! We sat at the bar and my husband went to the restroom. When he returned, he told me that the men's room was worse than the worst truck stop. Urine was all over the floor. Then, as we received our adult beverage, we also asked for menus. Holy cow....the menus were encrusted with food and Lord knows what else. We looked at each other, asked for the manager, explained how despicable his restaurant was, and left. I coated myself in hand sanitizer the minute we walked out the door. Don't even think twice about stopping at this Chili's. If I could, I would even take away the one star that I had to give this dirty place. read more

Went to our local Chills tonight & like always bad slow service. The waitress brought out our drinks which were not filled all the way to the top. My sweet tea tasted old, unsweetened & hot. My brother ordered a beer took forever to bring it. So she basically brought out drinks then disappeared for 15-20 minutes. I had to ask a passerby waitress to hunt our waitress down. It was partially my fault as I didn't ask them for medium rare but the corn too was a little overcooked as well. some of the other reviews seem to ring true -- its conveniently located on IH35, but not great service, kinda dirty, and kinda loud. I like to meet friends in San Marcos or take a break from the outlets and refuel. I LOVE Chili's but after several visits here, I just as soon pass it over and try one of the many other chain restaurants nearby. Plus, the entrance and exit to the parking lot drives me bananas -- not so easy to get in and out and back on the highway without some serious maneuvering through the parking lot -- which I figured out on subsequent visits. Chili's Restaurant is one of the best places to take the family to eat. The prices are good, the food is GREAT and it is kid friendly. I would definitely recommend Chili's for most family get togethers. The staff is friendly, the service is fast, and you can't beat the prices. Worst customer service ever, I placed an order for pickup , told the server I had a coupon for a free appetizer if I purchase an entree. I order the triple dipper and a Caesar salad. When I picked up my order, the manager told me I could not use my coupon, being in restaurant industry isn't more important to make your customer happy then the fine print on a coupon. Ordered two lunch specials, and only ate the fries. the side salad was just cucumbers, tomatoes, and 1 or 2 leaves of lettuce. the sandwhich was soaked in grease, and the cheese around the turkey meat was infused that it tasted like it was frozen together, then microwaved to be "cooked".
