Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. Wow, what a mistake! First, there is no silverware on our table. Our server told us he would have to roll some, but asked for our order in the meantime. We ordered nachos as an appetizer. Before I could even tell him "no jalapenos", he rushes off to put in the order...more than likely with jalapenos. He comes back out and I wave him down, and i tell him "I'm sorry, it might be late now, but can I get the nachos with no jalapenos?" He tells me he will go tell them. The nachos come out...with jalapenos right on top. A jalapenos on each nacho...very obvious. We have a big glop of sour cream in the middle of the plate of nachos too...but...still no silverware. I also ask for iced tea NO lemon. He brings me a refill tea...with lemon. We finally get our entrees. My boyfriend ordered a buffalo ranch chicken sandwich. It came out ***RAW***. The outside looked nice and crispy, but the inside? The chicken was still pink and translucent, like it had come straight out of the fridge raw with breading on top. It was so disgusting! They offered to replace it, and they *did* take the order off our bill, but by that point, my boyfriend's appetite was gone, and he didn't get replacement food. On top of all that, the server tells us that Chili's no longer does the free molten on birthdays anymore. They don't do anything special for birthdays. What a disappointment. I mostly come here for group events, like birthdays. Chili's is so much more fun with a group, less so with a couple because it's too open and not intimate. I find the food to be pretty decent overall, and have never found cause to send anything back to the kitchen. The service is average to above, but the atmosphere is almost always noisy and it can be difficult to hear yourself scream. Be sure if you have a large group that you don't get seated in one of the long booths, because that really takes away from the experience. read more

We all know what to expect when going to Chili's. Yes, the food is frozen and it tastes the same at every location. Its usually pretty tasty and hot, depending on what you get. The servers are usually friendly and enthusiastic. Unfortunately this location does not hold up to that standard. I go the crispy chicken crispers with gravy mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. The chicken was mushy, and tasted as if it had been under a heat lamp literally all day. The texture inside was rubbery like it was maybe even cooked the day before. Im not kidding. They forgot my potatoes but I got them and they were cold. I didn't complain because I hadn't eaten all day and it seemed like forever just to find my server. By the way, I had 3 different ones. When we were being seated, the table wasn't clean. The hostess would wipe specific spots with a napkin, but after having pointed out several spots, we gave up. The menus were sticky and gross. The server simply dropped a pile of utensils in the center of the table. When the drinks came, the glasses were dirty, and the lemon in a glass of tea still had a sticker on it. When I mentioned the dirty menus and the sticker on the lemon to the waiter, he simply stated that those things weren't his responsibility. (If any wait staff are reading this, let me explain something to you. The point of a customer pointing these things out is so that you can ensure that the responsible party is notified and the problem is corrected.) Mostly disappointing. I was in a party of five on a Sunday afternoon. We expected to have to wait for a table but were pleasantly surprised when we were seated right away. Only two out of my party of five arrived first, myself included, so we just wanted to order our drinks and wait for the others to show up. We waited about ten minutes before a server acknowledged us, and when she did (Amy, I believe) she said with no smile, no greeting, "What do you want?" Pardon me? Hi, how are you, I'm great, what's your name? We place our drink order (two waters, two house margaritas) and wait another seven minutes for those. Meanwhile, the rest of our party arrives and are greeted with the same bad attitude. Everyone gets their drinks and we are ready to order our appetizers. But alas, Amy sets the drinks down and then disappears without asking us if we are ready or need more time to browse the menu. Ok, we'll wait another ten minutes to even place our order. We finally have her attention and place our appetizer and entree order, and get another round of drinks. A friend of mine ordered a house margarita as well, but go this watermelon thing with vodka. We had to flag down the busier girl (who was very sweet, I wish I got her name) and she corrected the problem immediately. No Amy to be found. Our is taking a little bit longer than normal, so Amy finally drops by to tell us it will be just a few more minutes. This happens about three times. Almost forty minutes later, our food arrives. A few entrees are cold, and my salad wan't what I ordered (I requested a caesar, I got a garden salad). By this time, I definitely need another drink. We eat our meal, get our check, and have to call a manager over to have something split correctly. I understand mistakes happen on checks, not a big deal at all. Everyone pays in cash except for me, who has a card. I try to give Amy my card and she tells me to just use the tablet thing on the table to pay my bill. Okay, cool, but how in the hell do I use this thing? Thanks for the zero help with that too. It took me and said friend with wrong watermelon drink to figure it out. What the actual fuck? Come on chili's. Family was Traveling through this area and decided to stop in as chili's is usually pretty good. Well, waited 20 minutes to be seated when there was literally no one in the waiting area with us and we could see plenty of open seats. Then our bad ass server with names tattooed on his knuckles and giant gauges in his ears started out to be cool but then disappeared. Forever. No drink refills. Nothing. I knew going to Chili's was a bad idea. There were no chips. They were fresh out by 3 pm?? Weird. The food they did have took forever. The waiter was MIA most of the time. They forgot my side of avocado and then when he showed up 10 minutes later to give it to me it was rotten and brown. Who would even bother to give someone a rotten avocado??? This Chili's is pretty much just like any other. I live in SM so I'm a frequent visitor here. Sure, they'll take over 15 mins to get an order sometimes and they may add the wrong dressing from time to time, but I've never had a horrible order. I've worked at a number of Chili's locations and this is a pretty good one to eat at. I'm a huge fan of the black bean patty that you can substitute for any meat on any burger. Yummy! Also, Try the Explosion Salad with Romaine Mix and Ranch instead of Citrus Balsamic. It's my own concoction and absolutely YUMMY! read more

We started our meal with the never fail skillet queso. I've been dieting for a minute, so this was my treat! For the entree we tried the smoked platter meal (not sure that is the actual name of the meal) but it was pretty good. Only a few items I was disappointed in: the brisket on the platter had way more fat than meat. Don't get me wrong, I like my brisket moist with a little fat, but that was too much. After a bad experience at the Chili's in New Braunfels, my boyfriend and I drove to San Marcos to use his gift card. This Chili's at least didn't have hair in my food BUT food took almost an hour to come out (2 sandwiches with fries) and NO drink refills. We had our food wrapped up to go. The restaurant was not busy (came at 3:30pm) We waited 5 minutes to be seated in the empty restaurant. The elderly couple next to us waited 15 minutes before a server even approached them. They never once ask if we needed refills of drink. The we ordered food. One of the thing we ordered was a grilled chicken salad. My wife had just started her salad when she stopped as she had hit something very hot. She looked through the salad but could not find what caused it. She tried another bite with the same results. We pointed this out to the the waitress that we could not eat that salad. Her response is maybe some jalapeño got in it, should I take it away. She never offered to get another one or to do anything to make it right. To add insult to injury on the final bill there was that inedible salad. They proved they are too lazy for customer service. Worst experience of my life... Multiple people were invited to dirty tables which were half assed cleaned in front of them before they sat down. Waiter seemed angry the whole time. Same guy serving food and filling drinks was bussing and cleaning tables without washing hands. Service was non existent, leaving us drink less for 20 min and waiting 30 min for refill. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The service here is completely horrible. Do not bother ordering for TO GO because here it CLEARLY does NOT exist. Everytime I have came to pick up my order curbside there is no response to calls, the person inside at the to go register does not come outside to anyone. Every single time I have came I had to go inside and get my food from them, which by the way has been cold each time. Last time I ordered margaritas to go and they were watered down completely by the time I got them. I know this location doesn't have the best reviews, but I have been coming here for years now whenever I visit my grandfather as he loves when we order takeout. I came here yesterday (8.1.2020) and we came very early, which I felt bad for as I know ordering during a pandemic is rough and especially right at opening. But we were helped by Abbi and she truly was excellent. She helped us from the phone order all the way until we picked up the food and left. My family has many food restrictions and so we had a particularly difficult order, but they made sure they had it all correct. Abbi even showed us all oft he food to make sure they had it all correct and to par with our order, which was all perfect. The food took a little while, but we ordered right at opening and got there early as well for the pickup so truly the wait was an average wait time for any restaurant. the food was all great and we all enjoyed our meals and were smiling afterwards. So I should've listened to the previous reviews. They were absolutely true. My boyfriend and I just went to this particular Chili's because it's the only thing open due to the storms that have caused literally every road (even I-35) to have spots covered in flood waters. (tl;dr: The drinks are good, the food, hygiene, and service could use a ton of work though) If you're unfamiliar with this particular but of San Marcos, all the roads leaving north or south cross at least one river or creek so we were pretty much stuck with the restaurant options right nearby. So off to chili's we went. Right when we got there they guy seating us led us right to a booth with an obviously dirty table saying, "go ahead and take a seat and I'll get that cleaned off right away" so that was kind of an "....alright" moment for me and my boyfriend. But we sat and order some barbecue boneless wings with blue cheese and some chips and guacamole. To be fair they got us the food really quickly. It would have been appreciated more however if they hadn't given us buffalo wings with ranch. So there was that but we ate anyways and played games on their little table tablet things and figured we would mention the wings when the server came back...a half hour later. By then my boyfriend had eaten most the wings and I'd settled with the chips so we didn't bother mentioning it and each got another drink. This has little to do with virtually empty Chili's, with a checked out manager and half the staff telling (actually pretty funny) stories of their plans and experiences in the kitchen area. As I ate cool pockets of pasta, stuck together in clumps, the components not mixed with each other...I was thinking this food really, really feels and tastes frozen. I really didn't want to know all restaurants secrets but I knew my internet search results would make me never want to eat out but I had to really know the truth about this restaurant and most (all?) of the others. I knew the results google returned would risking my desire to ever eat in a chain restaurant again, wasting my hard earned cash. As I filtered out the obvious BS, there was enough well written, correct gramma data that research and it is true, ALL of my dinner is heated up from frozen. Nothing is fresh including the "fresh" buttered (not butter) Texas toast. I really wanted to remember the Chili's from my teenage years which included a lot of Chili's burgers and Pasta, cold beer and happy servers but I will never enjoy most food establishments like I did back then. It is frozen, tasteless, cold, and really nasty. Frozen is reheated in cook bags, boiled, flat grill, and most likely microwaved. I won't even mention MEAT GLUE (google that!!) I paid $15,00 for reheated in boil bag frozen pasta with preheated from frozen chicken pieces with colored "grill" markings. It was cold in parts really not worth eating which I did not. So off to a convenience store for chips. I have low expectations for those which I will not be disappointed. I made it thur this whole ramble by backspacing all the cuss word out....there were plenty!! I use to enjoy chili's now I question the San Marcos location. I am fed up with their service. I've ordered to go and each time they either over cook my steak or leave something out my order. Their always saying their sorry. On Saturday I decided to give them another chance. I waited patiently to be seated over 30 minutes. Then we get to our table. We ordered dinner. 2 drinks, thank god we ordered an appetizer. After the waitress came by the table 2 times, she never came back to explain to us why we were waiting over 25 minutes for food. No one came by to even see if we needed anything while we continue to wait we watched the entire sector where we were sitting almost clear out completely. After spending more than an hour and 1/2 and we appeared to become invisible, we just paid for what we had and walked out quietly. I figured I would just add my dissatisfaction on yelp because it is clear that a complaint is nothing and gets you no where. I'm done going here. I ordered a salad, how long does that take. (Hint:She's the one dressed like the janitor. ) I brought her to our table to show her empty drink glasses. How am I supposed to finish my dinner? Maybe swallowing my own saliva will help? I was a little nervous coming here with such low ratings but overall we had a good experience. We sat in the bar area after being greeted immediately by the hostess. They have touch screening order systems at every table which was pretty cool but just as easy to tell our waiter what we wanted. They were very attentive and checked up on us frequently. Our two salads did take awhile to come out but the manager came over and apologized for the wait, offered us more chips and salsa and right after our food came out.
