Seated without a wait on Father's Day...hmmm...SLOW service, incredibly long wait for food, WORST MEAL EVER at a Chilie's. 2 orders of Tacos were cold, kids size & missing most on what goes inside. 4 our the 6 of us had Mexican food, no salsa or pico. Asked & waiter said they had Tabasco?? After explaining got some more than midway through & charged .99 for a tiny cup. The tip guide on the receipt is totally inflated! Way way over the percentages listed and include the 8.25% tax! Dirty seats. Windowsills old food. Asked if this Chilie's was owned or franchised, host didn't know. No one knew anything there. With tons of food venues in San Marcos we will NEVER BE BACK to this location. The reason we choose this was it's convenience to the theatre & chain reputation of being good food. read more

Honestly I like chili's a lot. I'm from Houston where there are a lot of them, and they are always fast and clean. This location is the worst chili's I've ever been to. The food is good but it takes forever compared to other chili's. Also the management here is either not in control, or just plain lazy. I've went there on several occasions where there was a wait but 8 filthy tables with crap all over them, and they sit there dirty for in some cases the whole length of my visit. I even got sat by one, and the smell made me lose my appetite. Having worked in the restaurant industry, when there is a wait and dirty tables, or no wait and dirty tables, they must be cleaned off as soon as possible. I got here around 5:20 today hoping to take advantage of the margarita deal going on and walked in to a half empty restaurant, then was told that it would be a 15-20 minute wait. We got a text that we were ready to be seated at 5:41, got seated at a booth in a mostly empty area. The little touchscreen said we were at table #25. At 6:06, waitresses had visited every table around us had taken drink orders, but we had not even been greeted or looked at by anyone that works there other than the dude that seated us. Walked in, server asked if I could be seated. I said no I placed an order online. After waiting at the bar for 20 minutes the manager comes out and says they never received my order. Well if that isn't awesome. I said how long will it take. Cause I placed the order and online said it would take 15 minutes to be ready. Then I wait another 20 at the bar. So 50 minutes all together to get my food. Other patrons coming in and out after ordering their order online. How is it that my order didn't go through but my credit card did. Whatever. Food was okay, the special way I order it to my liking and my condiments were no where to be found. No discount, No apology. Sean Mac was our waiter. He was the waiter at any comparable restaurant. Food menus have changed since our last visit, so much for the better! Over all,it was extremely fast and inexpensive. My only quip is that one of my forks was not cleaned properly. My family and I have not been to Chili's in a long time because we did not enjoy the food or the service. Chili's food is pretty much the same wherever you go, and this place was no exception. The only thing I'll say other than that is it took way too long to get my food. The reason for the 1 star is because of the terrible service I received at the bar. The bartender was overworked (tending bar and making drinks for the dining room) and just a plain old bad bartender. She was inattentive and slow. I asked for a glass of water after I finished my margarita. It was at least 5 minutes before she got to it. I asked for my check. Again, it took about 5 minutes to get. I put my credit card on top of the bill to pay while she was standing one foot away from me. She walked away without even looking and didn't bother to check for another 5 minutes. read more

First I waited about 20 minutes when clearly there were many tables open but were not being cleaned. When I got sat, it took about 15 minutes for our server to get our drinks, and it wasn't even our server, it was a nearby server that saw that we had not been helped. My friend and I ordered some lunch from here today and compared to other to-go services, this one was not so great. First of all, their to-go was closed and we had to get our food from the bartender which was fine because he was really nice, but our food wasn't prepared as well as it was last time. The soups that came in our lunch combo weren't packaged as well as last time and could have easily spilled in the bag, we didn't receive any napkins or utensils (so we can't eat our soup) and the soup didn't come with any of the condiments listed. Also, they gave us literally 5 fries each with our sandwiches. I've eaten at this chilis several times and they fluctuate way too often between their good and bad days. Whenever I come here it's usually a great meal for me and my wife, but however for this one time specifically it was a nightmare ! I don't know the name of our waitress but she was a blonde haired young women about 5'7 but let me tell you about this women! Ok so first she brought our drink and everything was fine and dandy, but soon after I got call from my mom asking for my help I had to leave. I asked her for some to go plates and she said "so your gonna leave right now" I replied yes mam I must go. She rolled her eyes and walked away. The whole time I was waiting for my food she didn't not once acknowledge me or my wife trying to wave her down for some to go cups. So we then asked a waiter and he was true to his job and helped us out! Soon after that we were brought our in 2 styrofoam plates, and we didn't think much of it. She then handed us our to go cups and they're was hole at the bottom of them as if she poked a hole in them purposely! Then when we got home we opened our food and noticed both of our chicken were missing and in one of our black beans they're was a blob of spit in it!!! You know what to expect when you go to a Chili's. The food is baseline and generally pretty good. I will say our food was fine on this trip, though my son said his steak was slightly undercooked (unlike the table next to us who ordered medium and their steaks were still moo-ing). I will say that among Chili's, the service is either really good or really bad. There are people who can make the alright food better with their attitudes. This was one of the other kids of experiences. Our server, who never introduced himself nor even said welcome, was awful. A different server had to get our drink order and then when our real server swung by our table, and I mean swung by (he didn't even stop to ask, just said want any appetizers and then kept on walking). After what seemed like 10 minutes, he came back for our order and a refill on drinks. He swung by a few more times for refills, never stopping to ask if we needed anything or if we even wanted refills. Finally, after we were done, he actually stopped and asked if we knew how to use the table pay machine and I told him I did and could we get go-cups with drinks. After looking at the machine, we were charged for something we didn't order. We waited more than 10 minutes for him to swing back by---frankly even just to find him walking around so we could get his attention. When he did, he was properly surprised and said he did something with the tickets so that I paid one party and his mgr would delete the second party bill or whatever. I paid our bill, left him a tip he really didn't deserve and we waited another 8 minutes waiting for our drinks. They never came. On our way out, there were three young ladies standing near the hostess stand, engrossed in a conversation and their phones. We were nearly out the second outer door when one finally said have a nice night. All this to say, customer service apparently isn't emphasized at this location. I wish I knew what our server's name was so that I could be specific here, but he never said and I didn't see a nametag. We were there on Saturday, May 27 around 6pm. Been going there for over 10 years-----NOT anymore! Wife and I went in for lunch Tuesday (Nov 5th) here, and were seated. Not waitress/waiter came by even to ask about drinks. We sat there for 15 minutes, several walked by on adjacent aisles, no help. Another party came in and were seated next to us, another 15 min later a waiter came over and went to THEM first. Stop by this location on our way back from the outlet shopping stores with a friend for a quick snack since we skipped lunch. In no way am I comparing this location to other. We went in and the hostess sat us quickly and took a drink order. Our waiter Jordon then came to us after about 5 minutes, answered some questions about the menu items and took our order. I ordered a side salad and a soup, my friend order a nacho...easy order right...10 minutes pass as we discuss the new iphone...20 minutes past and so does Jordon at top speed saying while walking everything good... some other person refills our teas and gives us both sweet tea...25 minutes pass okay forget this I am ready to go ...30 minutes still no food..so I look at my friend and say fuck it lets roll, a random waitress comes by and I tell her its been over thirty minutes since we ordered and we not waiting any longer could she bring a check for the tea, she apologizes and disappears to find a check then as we are standing to leave the guy arrives with our food, ( the ice berg lettuce was wilted and the soup was still mia) then copes an attitude and say you want me to pack this to go for you? He disappears no ones anywhere we wait another 3 minutes then out the door. This entire time around the corner from where we are seated there are four-five employees eating and having a good time. So my family and I were driving through on the way from Dallas to San Antonio and it was 1:00pm, and we were hungry, so we stopped here to eat. Being a former employee (as well as my husband) we tend to over analyze Chilis but this didn't need over analyzing. My husband walked in before me and went to the restroom, when I got in there I asked if he had checked in. She had no idea because she only wrote down pager numbers and not names. So I had no idea. We were told 20 min ended up being about 30. When we finally got sat (next to a bunch of empty tables) the table was crammed in a corner, we barely had enough elbow room. We were greeted promptly which was the only thing good about this visit. She got our drinks, except for my brother's beer. We waited 10 minutes after receiving our drinks the waitress finally came back to take our order. Someone else finally brought my brother's beer (it was a Coors bottle, cause their keg was out) with a not so frosted anymore mug. After this it just goes way down hill. We had to wave her down just to get refill drinks, she ask my brother if he wanted another beer, he said yes. Nearly 5 min later (when we had to wave her down for another refill that she didn't do the first time) she asked him again, forgetting she already asked. We got a basket of chips to hold is over. I had asked for a thing of ranch and another salsa. I kid you not she walked by three times without stopping with no ranch or salsa. I finally waved her down again and asked her and she freaked out because she had forgot. Then the wait began for our food.... Now 2:00 we had gone through 3 baskets of chips and still no food. 2:20 still no food. After calling over the manager my party got the food, to find out that my order was wrong. I ordered shrimp pasta with NO spice. It had spice on it. Apparently there are now more than one spice on it and the waitress forgot to take off the blossom spice. So the manager said he would make it personally and that it wouldn't take as long as the last one. So my party are while I waited. 2:45 the manager brought out my second one. It looked like it had spice on it, so I asked what was this on top, he said BLOSSOM SPICE!!!! Are you kidding me? That's what was wrong with the first one! I told him screw it I'll just eat the pasta (my party was done) I ate as fast as I could, they paid out while I shoved my face. Remember we are just driving through this town. At that point the manager didn't apologize again he just walked away. He took off a percentage of our bills and was not seen again. When we left they were still on a wait and there were like 3 closed sections. That's ridiculous! We got in our car to leave at 3:00pm!! 2 hours!!! Never ever will I be back there! read more

I'm reluctant to even write a review because obviously the word is out on how bad this Chili's location is. I'll speak primarily to their take-out service, because I'm 1000 months pregnant and that's what we've been using lately. All I can say is that it's terrible. I have tried to tell my husband to stop going there, but he must be a sucker for extreme punishment because he keeps trying to give them ONE MORE CHANCE. And every time he waits for over an hour to get boxes of COLD food. I mean, really? He's sitting right there. Yes, that's right - we don't even trust you to call in our order first because you kept giving us the wrong food. So now he drives there and orders in person and waits. And waits and waits and waits. Why is it so hard to get the food to him when it's hot? Why do you let it sit there long enough to get cold? I don't expect it to be hot by the time he gets it home - I'm not paying you to perform magic. But for *&#% sake, it can at least be hot OR EVEN LUKEWARM when you box it up and bring it out. Each and every time we choose to dine at chili's we have had excellent service, great experiences with the management staff to fix any sort of problem (rowdy college students) that has occurred. The food is always very good...if you need any suggestions the southwest egg-rolls, smokehouse burgers, and of course the ribs are some of my favorites. The pricing is very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food that you receive. The last time we ate there we had an appetizer and two main course meals for just over $20 which I could nearly spend that at some mediocre fast food restaurants. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE service. Terrible staff and EVEN WORSE managers. The blonde manager from Florida is a dumbass and shouldn't be working there. I came in (group of total 4) 10:00 on Thursday night and didn't leave until 12:30! I had to ask for a manager 4 times and still no help. Our waiter was doing her side work the entire time and ignored us. We had to go ask for our food to be brought out after an hour and a half after ordering! I've had a terrible experience every time I've been here which is probably around 10 times now. Never going back. Check your receipts too because chances are they added on more food to jack up the bill! It took them 20 more minutes to even comp that off the bill. WATCH YOUR MONEY/ CREDIT CARDS WHEN YOU GO HERE. I went here with 3 of my friends, I pay for the bill, walk out, and notice that the waitress did not give me my credit card back. I go inside and tell the hostess that I was not given my card back. She responds," We are WAY too busy to look for your card right now. Come back tomorrow." So I stand there, with my mouth on the floor, astounded by this response. I mean yes...I understand you're busy, but I work at a 5 star restaurant...and I can assure you that this was Not the correct response. So I demand to speak to a manager, as the rude, blond hostess rolls her eyes at me. A manager gets my credit card back from the waitress who claims that the card "slipped out". Yes, accidents do happen, but I for one will never return there. Not too long after that, someone got ahold of my credit card number and began using it. Lots of yummy asparagus, grilled onion, corn and roasted tomato with a great spicy bean burger patty with all the regular fajita trimmings. It came with a side of delicious rice and black beans. Not sure what has happened, but this once good restaurant has taken a big down turn. Most restaurants change things up every so often with decor and the menu. Unfortunately somewhere along the way someone chose very badly for Chilis. I doubt the bad experience we had, had much to do with his particular restaurant but rather the chain in general. The wait staff for example was fine. It was the menu, quality of food, the little tv/device at our table flashing ads, and even the bad lighting in the restaurant that was the problem. We ordered nachos, chicken tenders, and wings and no one was happy with their meal. Even with a $50 gift card I felt like the remainder we paid was not worth it for the food we had. We were seated by the hostess right away however 15 min after sitting we still hadn't been approached by anyone yet for anything. This was especially annoying because two waiters were standing around watching the Spurs playoff game. They saw us sitting there but made no attempt to help us. We finally got tired of waiting and stopped a waitress walking by, amber. She stopped right away what she was doing to take our drink and food orders. She approached the man we thought should have had our table however he said he was not taking our table. He clearly knew we were sitting there and not being taken care of. Anyway this review is not to complain so much as it is to applaud amber for being an excellent waitress after she wasn't assigned to our table. Went for lunch today. Baked potato soup was cold. Salads and half sandwiches were good, VERY small servings of fries compared to menu pic. Server never offered to refill any of our drinks. One of our group was having a birthday. The server brought her dessert and sat it on the table.(She came alone, no other servers to sing.) We began to sing "Happy Birthday" and she stood a minute then walked off. We thought maybe the servers there didn't do that anymore until we heard a whole group of servers sing to another diner later! She brought our bill, my husband signed the bill, and she NEVER returned to our table. We sat and talked a bit -- we hadn't seen these people in about a year -- the server acted as if we weren't there. Never got a refill on ANY of our drinks. Finally another server came by and asked if we needed anything. I asked for some more tea. She said okay but never brought it. (I saw her talking to our server so maybe our server said, "Ignore them so they'll leave"??? This place was shockingly bad on service! By the way, they weren't busy so that is NOT the reason. The other couple live near there -- we don't -- and they WERE good patrons of this Chilis, so I think they have lost some regular customers after this visit. read more

I've been frustrated with restaurants for a while, but the bad service I had today was the last straw & why I decided to get on Yelp. 3 ladies came in about 10 minutes after I ordered & got their food before me. One of the guys forgot to put on my order. He went back & put my order in real quick & came over & said my food will be out soon...I ordered a freakin appetizer! The ladies we halfway done with their food when he said that. Then the other guy comes over & asks if I want a beer 10 minutes after he took my empty beer. As much as I like this particular franchise, the one located in San Marcos TX needs serious help. My last three visits there have been horrible. The wait staff is lazy and oblivious to their customers. I had to ask for a refill, ask for the empty dishes to be cleared off from the table, the table was dirty with no silverware ready, had to wait for the host/hostess to show up to finally be seated and it wasnt even busy. The bar tender was non existant and he came from the back to randomly check on the bar in what seemed like 20 minute intervals. Several weeks ago my boyfriend and I decided to order some food to-go from this Chilis. Having lived in San Marcos for two years neither of us had ventured to this San Marcos location. Our to-go experience was very unpleasant and after getting in contact with the store we were invited back for another try. Chili's San Marcos has definitely redeemed themselves in my eyes. After spending the day packing up for a big move we stopped by for a low-key dinner. We decided to go for Chili's 35 dollar meal deal which included two margaritas, one appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert. We decided to pay one extra dollar to upgrade both of our gold margaritas to the presidente margaritas which were served to us in a shaker and were both very good. Following our drinks we had the guacamole/chips/salsa for our appetizer. The portion size was very good and you could tell that it was hand prepared because there were chunks of avocado still in it. I then received the margarita chicken with beans and rice as my entree and my boyfriend got the bacon burger cooked medium. The chicken was FANTASTIC. It was so tender from the first bite that I had to cut in to the center because there was no way this chicken was fully cooked AND this tender, but I was amazed to find that the center was perfectly cooked as well. My boyfriends burger came out perfectly medium as well. Following our entree we had the cheesecake which was also very good. While we were eating our dessert the manager even stopped by and asked how everything was (not to mention she was at the host stand wishing us a good night on our exit). Our server was fantastic. I wish I had saved the receipt with her name on it but I didn't. She was a blonde girl that was working in the bar booths tonight around 8pm (July 21st). I like to give credit where it is due and she definitely did a great job. After we finished our meal and paid out we sat there and talked for awhile, eventually we decided we wanted another cocktail and instead of having to sit there looking around for someone or going up to the bar to order another drink a male server saw that I was looking at a menu again and immediately asked me if I would like another drink and allowed me to order through him and he brought the cocktail and we still paid out through our same server (another server helping out the girl working cocktail and not even trying to claim the check on the drinks as his own? good teamwork there). All in all we had an unexpectedly fantastic dinner at chili's and are so glad we gave it another try. We left very happy and very full. Glad we gave y'all a second chance. read more

Worst service ever!!! If could've given Chili's 0 stars I would have. We arrive with our party of 10 and are seated promptly the restaurant looks somewhat busy but most tables are empty. The server comes and gets us our drink orders and takes forever to return every. single. time. When we order I tell them that I want buffalo tenders but no blue cheese drizzle I just want PLAIN buffalo, my dad orders a burger NO CHEESE. She says no big deal. Then we wait 50 minutes for our food. We're a little upset but still no big deal. Then finally, the server brings food. Half our order is wrong and another family member just needs ranch. She takes forever to return our redone food and almost all the table is done except for the 3 meals that were wrong. All that time we waited for our food, my poor cousin never got her ranch so she had to stare at her salad till we got our remade food. They still never got my tenders right and still brought them out with ranch on top instead of blue cheese. I never said sub ranch for blue cheese!!! I will not be back nor the other 3 families with me. This place just sucks!!!! Not to mention once our server realized mistakes had been made she gave up and when she dropped of our tickets she was just put them on the table and didn't say anything like maybe a single "once again sorry about the food."
