    Texas Cheese Fries
    Augustus G.

We were looking to hit our usual places Monday for lunch, but it seemed like everywhere we went they were crowded and extremely busy or they weren't that crowded, but lacked the staff to handle having more than what they had! So we elected to stop and try Chili's Bar and Grill. They had a pretty good bunch of customers, but we were promptly seated and our drink orders were taken! I had sweet tea, my wife had water, and our little one had a coke. We ordered appetizers of Southwestern Eggrolls and an order of Texas Fries that had melted cheese, bacon bits, chopped green onions, and sliced pickled jalapenos! Ask of them were really good to get Started. For my main part of lunch I ordered the Big Mouth Texas Rancher a double Meat cheese burger with bacon slices and ranch dressing, my wife had the lunch beef fajitas and a salad. Our 7 year old had a small lunch size cheese pizza. My burger was really pretty good and I was actually impressed that the meat was really juicy and not dried out! It was really a great burger!!! My wife thought her fajitas were decent, but not really spectacular. Our 7 year old only ate about one and a half slices of his pizza out of four! He said the crust was too thick and fluffy and had too much sauce on it! He's used to and favors thin crust with more cheese than sauce. I'll give a shout out to our waiter who stayed on top of things and kept checking on us and his other customers while we were there!! The kitchen staff would bring out the food too or table as soon as it was ready, so I have to give them kudos too for bringing our food out hot as it was ready!! So we had a pretty decent experience for our lunch here at our local Chili's!

See the lovely hair in our food! Unfortunately can't take a pic of the cigarette smell throughout the entire place.

I would like to give a shout out to Chillis in Silsbee for donating a number of gift certificates for Hardin County "Toys for Tots" auction items. Auction is 2:00 pm Saturday October 14, 2017. Wo's Friendly Tavern in Village Mills. Kid friendly?

I would not bring a Kid to WO's!!!!

My wife and I stopped by on a Saturday night and it just happened to be Karaoke night! I immediately signed up to do "Good Ole Boys Like Me" by Don Williams. Which I then nailed! I ordered shots and they were sorta more like half shots. That's the only thing keep this place from being five stars. It might have something to with the fact that they were in a dry county I dunno. If you wanna experience the local aesthetic of Jasper this is the place to do it. If you driving through stop and prepare yourself for some local culture.

If I lived in the area I would likely be calling the Happy Cajun my second home. The bar is full of locals. It was a Saturday night when we stopped in and every Saturday is karaoke night. Steve H and I quickly made friends with the guy running the karaoke - he was awesome and did a great job! I drank some gin and tonics and had a couple of shots and enjoyed the atmosphere. The shots were a little small, so not sure what was up with that. I assumed it had something to do with the dry county and how you have to have a membership to drink. This is the kind of place where people are friendly and everyone is welcome it seemed. I saw all walks of life in the bar, which is always a good thing. The bartenders were great! There were pool tables and people having a great time all around. I could tell the people singing karaoke get lots of practice and likely sing the same songs over and over, but that is another reason why this bar was so awesome. It almost felt like going back in time a bit here too. The bar is a little divey and kind of a whole in the wall place, but this all adds to the persona of the bar. If you are camping down the road at Martin Dies State Park or just need a place to get away, have a couple of drinks and meet some nice people then stop in at the Happy Cajun because this place was bad-ass and a diamond in the rough!

So go and have a cold one with Shawn Maaden.

The food did take a minute to get to the table.... But we were one of the first tables, actually THE first to be seated that evening. 3 out of the 4 people at our table said their food was horrible. One had chicken fried steak and complained that it was 'all breading' and couldn't taste the steak. One had a Philly cheesesteak type sandwich and complained that the steak was cubed as opposed to thin sliced like a cheese-steak should be. Also said it tasted nothing like it should've. The third person ordered a seafood dish that wasn't thoroughly cooked, as well as a side dish of a vegetable (can't remember which one) that tasted as though it had been soaked in pure vinegar. My plate was fine. But, I just had a plain ol' hamburger. The restaurant didn't even have the manager come over to discuss the issues at our table, which I thought was odd. Due to the multiple issues with the meals at just our table -- I doubt my family will return.
