First time visiting TJ in years and it was so much fun! I love a good food market hall, and I had…read moreno idea Telefónica even existed. It reminds me of some of the big food halls in Los Angeles (Grand Central Market, Haven City, etc.) packed with delicious food and beverage options. Just a quick Uber ride from the border and you can be munching on fresh ceviche and savoring an ice cold glass of house-made sangria. That's exactly what we ordered! I appreciated the option for indoor or outdoor seating. Since it was an extremely hot and humid day, we opted to sit inside, where the fans were a lifesaver. We ordered drinks at the bar inside and then picked up food from one of the several vendors outside. The staff was welcoming and checked on us several times, even offering our group a large table upstairs, which was a considerate touch. From coffee to pastries, sweets, snacks, wine, beer, seafood, pizza, and everything in between, Telefónica is a great way to start or end your day in TJ. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in town!

This place is amazing. Disregard any bad reviews that you may see…read more the truth is they have so many different types of food here, the biggest problem is deciding which one you want to eat. My advice, take a cheap UBER instead of driving as parking is not fast. When you arrive take a walk though quickly to get a lay of the land and see what the options are. Maybe grab a michelada on the way in since the bar is right there. I'd pick one or 2 or 3 places to try as long as what you order fits together. the last thing you'd want to eat would be a taco and a hot dog. BE MINDFUL: Realize you are in Mexico. This place wasn't really made for tourists, it's more of a local spot and it's pretty safe. That being said they don't usually care too much about dealing with complaints. Take breath a little bit Karen and enjoy the experience. The tables are open seating, so maybe while you grab food, send your friend to find a table. they also had a cat there that was so chill and wanted to be pet.

I picked a place off Google but when we landed there we were not comfortable stopping to park, so we looked again and decided to check out La Puerta not realizing it was in the Gaslight District. I am not a fan of the Gaslight District, which is why I am so mad!! I'm going to HAVE to go back to the Gaslight District!! The food was AMAZING!! I HIGHLY recommend the Potato Flautitas. It's the kind of dish I'm going to dream about, I'm salivating now just thinking about them. I also did the Pick 3 Street Tacos (and actually ordered a 4th). The Ranchero Shrimp and Grilled Veggie were top notch. The Conchinita was recommended by our waiter, and it was interesting, tasty but different. It could have used a little more pickled onion. The only one I would not recommend (shockingly, I thought it would be the easy pass) was the carne asada. It was too greasy. My husband ordered a carne asada quesadilla and said the same, it was too wet and soaked through the tortilla. But there were no many other delightful options, I would say just don't go traditional. But honestly my favorite thing on the plate was the side dish rajas con crema, seriously, that alone is going to drag me down to the Gaslight District. I'm even considering going to a Padres game just for the excuse. I'm salivating again! As for our waiter, Colin, he was fantastic. Very informative, made great suggestions and seemed genuinely pleased by our satisfaction. He was smiling the whole time, friendly and stayed very present. I highly recommend you get yourself through the door at La Puerta and sit down for a meal ASAP. (We ate the food so fast I forgot to take pictures.)

It's been awhile & I gladly like to update my review here up to 4 stars! One of my fav taco shops…read morein SD. At first I gave them a great review & last time not so great due to prices & portions. Well now over the years their prices are better than other taco shops & portions have gotten bigger. Tho they only have 3 tacos on the menu, Carne Asada, Birria, Adobada, they are good & they have one of the better Birria soup/broth in SD. Their carne asada is one of the best in SD, so juicy & soft I love it, their Birria taco is good too but I prefer their order of Birria or broth & their Adobada is ok just a bit too marinated for me. They also have burritos, tortas & Mullitas & I recommend the Carne Asada form in those because I believe they have one of the best Carne Asada meats in SD. The customer service is really good, cooks are cool & fast & the girls on the register are really nice & the place is always clean. And you know the best part, they have a dispensary/weed store next door so you can buy a joint & go smoke a joint in your car & then walk here & get a few tacos & Birria broth, now that's a perfect breakfast or lunch, tacos & weed go hand & hand baby :) Overall a good little hole in the wall taco shop if you don't want crazy long lines & good service & good tacos & Birria meat or broth this is your place. I even met the Baseball player Adrain Gonzalez here (you can see in my pics) & had tacos on the table next to him & talked baseball a bit & no I was not high, at that moment. So keep up the good job Poblano's & staff & see you soon amigos :)

This restaurant is a monthly stop for my group when we visit Tijuana to run our free medical…read moreclinic. On our most recent stop, we found that the restaurant that was formerly here (Carnitas Y Birria Los Amigos) - was no longer here. After talking to the servers here, we found that the business was sold and this is the new reincarnation. The menu lost some favorites from the previous business such as Menudo, but gained a huge drink menu - which comes in handy when the servers mishear your order and pack a crapton of chili in your tacos! I ordered 2 Tacos with asada, and a burrito with asada, and my order came out within minutes. The food was fresh, the meat portions were generous, and they pack your tacos/burritos full of fresh, tasty, guacamole. There was also a bowl of salsa with CHUNKS of avocado on each table as well. The only downside was that the server must have misheard me when I requested "no spicy", as both my tacos and burritos were probably the spiciest thing I've eaten in a decade. My tongue was burning and the diet coke just made things worse lol. I'll have to be more clear next time we visit. I left feeling satisfied - the best part? My entire meal including my glass bottle of "Coca-cola Light" (which is the Diet Coke south of the border) - was a little under $6 USD. While seating is a bit tighter, they did add some chairs and tables, as well as a "bar" type of area. The restaurant also added another restroom - which is a plus, since the previous restaurant only had one working restroom. Parking is another story - you may have to drive around the block to find some free spots that aren't reserved for businesses. This restaurant is about a 10 minute walk from the pedestrian border crossing at Otay Mesa. Photos included: 1) Menu - they added a drink menu that the previous restaurant didn't have, but they no longer offer Menudo. Note: The prices you see are in pesos, not USD. The exchange rate at the time of my visit was 1 USD = 19 Pesos. 2) My meal: 2x tacos asada and 1x burrito asada.
